Hi everyone,
Sharing a deal I found earlier, I managed to PB at Officeworks for $1709.05.
Techcart's listing mentioned AU stock with the correct model number matching what OW has.

Sounds like you got ripped off I got a two-door 1.8m fridge for only $800.
which brand?
its like comparing a nice pair of socks with a nice tie. can’t wear the socks at the place of a tie(which will be significantly costlier)
How much time each day do you spend interacting with the fridge compared to your phone?
I agree the price of flagship phones has gone nuts, but there is something to be said for spending more on the things you spend a large amount of time using.
A $300 phone can do 90% of what a $1799 one can. The extra cost doesn’t always translate to a proportional benefit.
Using a $300 phone vs a $1800 one feels totally different, same as driving, the pleasure is priceless.
Exactly what I'm thinking.
I live in antarctica, I can’t justify paying any money for a fridge
I think the same but for housing…
A 1000 phone is not the reason young adults can't afford 2m house in Sydney 🤣
Not just a phone. Also a laptop and credit/debit card and still camera and video camera and gps navigation as well. When was the last time you got a phone, laptop, card, camera and gps all for under $2k?
Have you looked into Android phones? In my view, the price is better justified by the quality of the software rather than the hardware.
Yes but same point. People have to stop thinking about paying $1k+ and they are only getting a phone. It's so much more than a phone these days. Nobody blinks twice about paying $1k for a laptop and phones have effectively become a laptop replacement for a lot of people
iPhones hold their value way better than Android
10 years ago $999 64GB iPhones where the thing
So can easily price beat?
Any gift cards special atm to?
so no one would actually buy from these guys? it's just for PB purposes?
Would you rather a random no-name outlet / or a reputable retail chain. Pretty sure OP intended for the deal to be price beat / matched.
can you do PB with office works online or on the phone ?
i did call them and was able to PB on the phone.
I received an iPhone 15 (standard) in the post recently to upgrade the old iPhone 8 I had for work. Work issued it so didn't have to pay anything. I know it is a matter of preference and there's a big (virtual) debate on android vs. apple. My first impression, yeah it's a nice new phone and feels rather premium. But would I pay $1000+? No. Perhaps it's because I'm more entrenched into the Android/Google ecosystem. I use a Sony XM3, Windows 11, Google photos etc. and I feel it would be a massive effort to shift everything over to the Apple ecosystem. You're either fully in or out. That being said, I still prefer my Pixel 5. I still stick to my <$700 budget for a new phone every 6yrs. Didn't think that would be achievable if I was an Apple person.
Switched to iPhone 14 Pro Max a couple of years back after always being on android. To be honest, having had this for 2 and a half years m, this is the first time I’m really finding it runs as smooth as when I bought it. That for me is a big difference with android. I found after two years there were generally issues (crashing, lagging, slowness, etc) that made me want to upgrade. Mind you I’m a gamer and will use my phone quite a bit so my needs might be a bit more .. premium..
So for me that’s worth the extra cost I guess. Having said all that, I’m not nearly as impressed with iOS as I would have thought. Still plenty of little issues I don’t quite like which I would have expected to be better for what we pay…
It depends on what Android you have.
I use Oppo find X5 pro. Bought this 2 and half years ago.
Battery still rocks. Phone is still as smooth as it is on Day1. Picture quality is far more better than Apple.
TBH it's not cheap too but really a good phone.
I bought a refurbished iPhone 14 Pro over $800 from eBay advertised as As new condition 5 months ago combined with discounts (for a colleague). It was in mint condition just like a new phone. No issues so far. But it is always a gamble when you buy refurbished.
Shouldn’t be getting a price match as they are based in Hong Kong
In case it's a consideration for people, at WWDC Apple just advised that their AI based Siri is going to require 12gb of RAM, which none of their current phones have. The iPhone 16 risks being a bit of a forgotten step child for Apple if AI really is their big push in the future.
Apple Intelligence / LLM based Siri are non-starters based on what they've done last year - but fair point! ChatGPT/Gemini as standalone apps are still my go to.
Ohh I agree it's complete garbage at the moment. I'm assuming that at some point though Apple will actually get their shit together and produce a reasonable LLM system.
What's concerning though is that they've been advertising the 16 as 'unlocking AI', which is going to piss off a bunch of people when they realise their 12 month old phone won't get Apple's new AI features in 2026.
True. This is why all high-end Google Pixel phones now come with 16GB RAM ( the same as my laptop ) :-)
Apple is slow to upgrade hardware. I would say iPhone 18 might have 16GB Ram !
Do you have a link that says 12GB RAM is required for Apple's new on-device AI capabilities?
My understanding is that iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max series are coming out with 12GB
Link doesn't take you to phone. Did they change it?
Looks like parties over, the link doesn't work anymore
Yep. They took it off their website.
I got a price match from OW but not MAX.

total pay 1661.95
Thanks hub by Triforce! Never heard your name, but save me $100.
Was able to PB at officeworks, picked one for $1709, travelling soon so should be able to claim $155 gst bringing it down to $1555. Thank for sharing 👍
I just bought a two door fridge 1.8 meters tall for $1400.
Still can’t justify the price for me
