        It's a rort just use the internal memory 256GB. You cant hack the switch 2 so sd express is no use

          The Switch 2 requires the use of Express cards because it's new technology and as the games get larger, the amount of data that needs to be read increases. Rather than put up with insufferable loading times they have opted to implement a new/better standard.
          PC games used to come on 3.5" floppy disk's. We don't do this anymore because a better option came along.
          Not many people ride horses as a daily driver anymore either.
          One thing to add is that many Switch 2 games will come out as Game Key Cards which require you to download all of the game data to internal memory (or a Micro SD Express Card) which means the the Switch 2 is likely to rely on memory cards more than the Switch 1.

      Switch 2 uses a much faster micro SD card type and wont work with anything but express cards either.
      This Atrix is in fact the cheapest 512gb one available right now.

          Right up until a week ago, there was very little demand for MicroSD Express cards, so manufacturers had no real incentives to create new production lines for them, or expand existing ones.

          Low demand = small production = poor economy of scale = relatively more expensive to produce per unit = costs passed onto consumer.

          Now within the span of 4 days, there's at least 3.5 million new devices out there that can use MicroSD Express cards. So manufacturers will ramp up productions to cash in, which means that the per unit production cost will come down, and price for consumers drop as they compete for customers.

            @pj1351: As much as your theory might be correct it hasn't always happened this way. With silicon prices going up in the last couple of years, gen 3/4 SSD were cheaper 2-3 years ago than they are now.
            Not sure if the same impact will happen with SD express

        General consensus SD express is not common enough to be mainstream. Once they are price will drop. Agree internal memory 256GB is enough. You play games on cartridges anyway not like you can hack and mod the console needing sdcard

      There is a new type of card it is called micro sd express, its different(faster)
      Normal micro sd card will not work(not compatible)

      It's more like an ssd with PCIe interface and NVMe protocol in a micro SD form factor, rather than a real micro SD. Though it is a real micro SD because it is backwards compatible. The form factor just never really took off, until now with Switch 2 it'll finally be mainstream.

        Not sure what you find so outlandish. It’s happened before with special editions of the original Switch (most notably the Animal Crossing one).
        Even if you consider a “kids” product, it won’t stop scalpers where they think they can make a buck. Look up Pokémon scalpers for some embarrassing scalpers in action

          • Wii was at an estimate of around 2 million units for its first month (after accounting for different launch dates in different regions).
          • The Switch 1 sold in the range of 2.7 million units in its entire first month.

          The Switch 2 is officially at 3.5 million units in just its first 4 days.

          It's actually people trying to downplay the achievement that are twisting themselves into knots focusing on largely irrelevant metrics, e.g. "Biggest launch for Nintendo, but still smaller than PS5/Xbox in the UK and maybe France".

    It's a deal.. kinda. I don't think many people would see the point of buying a switch without the Mario kart bundle. So whilst it's a good price on the switch, if you add the cost of Mario kart to this it's no longer a deal. You'd need to be able to source Mario kart for about $65 for it to work out.

    Shame they don't have the bundle available.

      I guess it depends who's buying it. I purchased it as I wanted the FPS performance and HDR upgrades for things like for Zelda, Bayonetta 2-3, Mario Odyssey.
      The Zelda games really needed the performance boost. I should be able to enjoy the game way more now.

      I don't have Nintendo Online and my mates don't have Switches or play Mario Kart.
      I was still happy playing the odd Mario Kart 8 by myself on the Wii U until April last year.
      I still like to keep the Wii U plugged in for Wind Waker / Twilight Princess remastered as they are in the yearly playthrough rotation.

        Sadly games with capped fps are still capped at the same number though eg. Zelda BotW still at 30fps.
        But at least it should hold steady at the cap and not have lots of the frame rate drops like BotW/TotK did on switch 1
