For anyone who may wish to keep the Switch 2 box in good condition for selling later (or you are a collector etc.), a word of warning. I pre-ordered a Switch 2 for delivery from EB Games and when it arrived last Friday it has been packed in a really flimsy box with no other packaging/bubble wrap and the Switch 2 box was quite damaged. The box also had rips that could not have happened during transit. Also, the seal had clearly been opened and there were smudges on the screen. It felt like a second hand item. I contacted EB Support and they told me, "packaging is not considered a feature of the product, and as such, we are unable to offer compensation or returns based solely on cosmetic damage to the packaging." Also, "there would be no reason for our warehouse team to tamper with active stock".
So, you will be stuck with it no matter what condition it arrives in. I don't think that's reasonable for an item that costs over $700 (the Mario Kart edition) but now EB Support are ignoring me because they say the case is closed.
Look at the bright side, you got a switch 2 and if think of buying a brand new car…. have you ever land a car that is 0km on the meter anywhere ? as long as you can enjoy the product, wrapping just a bit extra thing that you can happily overlook.
Even when you re-sell, most people care if console is working rather a prefect box but dang console, right?
initially I was like what this guy is talking about and I received mine today from my local store which is like 4 kms away, and was surprised to see box has lot of scratches and no seal on box, there was also no damage protection/bubble wrap/air bag in packaging, the outer box eb used to pack is so big so swtich is bound to bang from one side to another in the transit.
Also share the feeling that it does not feel like brand new, nothing was sealed neigther outer box nor inside. I wonder eb got their entire stock damaged or something, not sure, not impressed and my kid was disheartened a bit :(
