The closed back Rode NTH-100 headphones offer an alternative to the many open back headphone currently on sale. The Rode NTH-100's ear cups offer good sound isolation from external noise and by reverse sound leakage is minimal. It does not offer active noise cancelling because its not that type of headphone.
Currently selling on average for $200 elsewhere, but drops by $40/$44 with the ebay discount codes. Easy returns to seller and apparently lifetime OEM warranty.
Express delivery, bought mine 2 days ago and it arrived today. Been listening to it now for the last 4-5 hours straight. Ear pads not even warm yet because the cushions absorb heat.
First impressions so far:
Construction feels solid particularly the earcups. Able to adjust and mechanically lock the position of the earcups relative to the headband. Included 2.4m audio cable can be connected to either left or right earcup. Headphnes are not heavy and unnoticeable when worn. Headphones feel very secure and comfortable when worn and sit lightly around the head without crushing/clamping feeling.
Sound is clear, not overly bright nor bassy, but bass is present and controlled. More of a neutral sound profile. As can be expected of closed backs, soundstage sits between the ears (so apparently not good for first person shooters), however it does offer an option to connect a microphone under the earcup.
Review on What Hifi here, won its catergory in 2024 awards.
Also worth noting these are made in Australia!
