The closed back Rode NTH-100 headphones offer an alternative to the many open back headphone currently on sale. The Rode NTH-100's ear cups offer good sound isolation from external noise and by reverse sound leakage is minimal. It does not offer active noise cancelling because its not that type of headphone.

Currently selling on average for $200 elsewhere, but drops by $40/$44 with the ebay discount codes. Easy returns to seller and apparently lifetime OEM warranty.

Express delivery, bought mine 2 days ago and it arrived today. Been listening to it now for the last 4-5 hours straight. Ear pads not even warm yet because the cushions absorb heat.

First impressions so far:

Construction feels solid particularly the earcups. Able to adjust and mechanically lock the position of the earcups relative to the headband. Included 2.4m audio cable can be connected to either left or right earcup. Headphnes are not heavy and unnoticeable when worn. Headphones feel very secure and comfortable when worn and sit lightly around the head without crushing/clamping feeling.

Sound is clear, not overly bright nor bassy, but bass is present and controlled. More of a neutral sound profile. As can be expected of closed backs, soundstage sits between the ears (so apparently not good for first person shooters), however it does offer an option to connect a microphone under the earcup.

Review on What Hifi here, won its catergory in 2024 awards.

I have the Rode NTH-100M Professional it comes with the mic attachment had a few years 100% with it for the life time replacement warranty ANYTHING goes wrong with it Rode will replace it immediately. I have this paired with my Rodcaster duo 2 mixer and the sound is so good.

  • Thanks OP. got one to use with my 3.5mm DAC

  • Great headphones.

I have four in my kit bag. Best warranty available ive ever seen on headphones.

  • I really liked these headphones, but be aware they tend to break in a specific spot. Look at reviews and photos on Amazon - there are many reports of the plastic piece above the earcup breaking. I had a pair of these and mine broke in the exact same spot.

    • Covered by rodes Warranty.

  • Spend the extra money and get the FiiO FT1 on sale (bigger AliE sales would have it close to this price via cashback, AU sales will have it close to $200 with local warranty).

Vastly better sound quality, overall better build quality.

    • That's the one I'm waiting for, do you know if there will be a better time to buy than the upcoming ~$33 AUD off code and AE CB with maybe shopback? I've only recently been looking out for a deal for them so don't know if they drop lower.

      • It's a major sale, so maybe, but their biggest sales are CNY and 11.11/Black Friday.

  • I like these headphones, mine broke in the spot that is mentioned above, rode replaced them
a great thing about these if you play guitar and are right handed, you can choose if you want the cable to come out the right or left ear cup
