    That’s a big boy.

I can't believe people are moving on to 98" TVs. I'm in the market for a 75", and my wife is telling me even that's too large.

      • +11

        I have an 85" that I want the 98" for.. :P

        • +1

          same boat … lol

      • +2

Yeah feel you. I only barely cleared the 65 inch C1 with my wife. She thought 48 was the go to size these days.

        • +2

Wow 48 is tiny for a living room tv, I even have 65 inch in the master

        • I got the 77C1 in the lounge great size and viewing distance after six months you get used to it and then should have gotten the 82" lol. The PSU on mine just died but LG replacing it free of charge

      • +2

My wife is always telling me this

      • +2

Maybe people have different sized living rooms? I have 98” TV and I still have to sit half way on the floor to get best view. I’m waiting for when they release some cheap 150” TVs

        • I can fit a 98" no issues! The issue for my wife is that she doesnt want the vibe of the room to be about the TV. If you walk into a room and the TV is huge, the TV kind of becomes the focal point of the room. We rarely watch TV so different priorities I guess.

        • +1

Do you live in a convention centre?

      • We contemplated 85"v98/100 for the living room.

Ended up chucking a 98" on the wall. 0 regrets.
Our theatre got decked out as a library with wall to wall shelves/cabinets and I hung up our 65" in there.

Got used to the 98" real quick, first time guests always make it a talking point 😬

      • +3

There is no such thing as "too large TV".

      • Too small for a living room IMO. I currently have a 75" and will definitely go straight to a 98" next. Just need one with a centre stand as I don't want to change my TV unit.

      • +1

I wish I heard those words come out of the wife’s mouth

        • +2

that she wants the next size up?

      • Yeah i wanted the 85" and the wife said NEIN! :) so i ended up with this TV in the 75" size.

        • C8k in 75? Nice! Have you taken delivery? How is it? I want the same one.

          • +1

@ifreddo: Ordered earlier today, should arrive tomorrow sometimes. Yeah the C8K in 75" PM me after a few days and i can give you some feedback :) i managed to negotiate slightly with the online good guys chat.

      • +3

Your wife will change her tune right quick as soon as someone gives her a taste of that monster.

      • Imo if in an average sizes living room and sitting about 3m from the screen, going from 75 to 85 will give you that cinema feeling. 75 is just a very large screen.

      • +1

Wife and I just got a 150" screen and 4k laser projector.

My wife wanted to go as big as possible for the home theatre

Lucky for me she loves tv/movies as much as I do

        • Hope she isn't expecting inky blacks

    • It can replace a wall! I think there'll be trouble getting into some people's homes.

    • Its OK. The box does fit through a standard door. They have to get beyond 120 I think before we start hitting that problem. That said, better have a dedicated TV room !

  • Great deal, I paid 7.2 at JB on the weekend - going to see if they will refund the difference now.

    • +3

7.2k for a TCL?! What cost of living crisis?

      • They make the best TVs in the 98" range. Was originally looking at Sony but wasnt impressed in store. This looked way better.

        • I thought Samsung made the best 98"?

That was my take on the models when I was comparing with TCL, Sony and Samsung 98s

          • @tkboi: TCL now owns CSOT that manufactures a lot of Sony/Samsung LCD’s, there’s not a lot of difference

        • The LG G5 97” would like to throw its hat in the ring.

          • @eccaz: Not a 98" though. Also 25K RRP

            • @ruddiger7: Ahhh your 98” ‘range’ doesn’t include 97’s or 100’s, makes sense.

You did say best, the G5 is the best in that ‘range’.

              • @eccaz: It is true, if I had the cash it would be the LG 97"… or the TCL 115"

    • +21

UPDATE: Rushed into store and got the difference refunded. They had to call up the regional manager to approve. Happy days - $1200 back.

  • JB would price match but charge you $200 delivery..

    TGG did a BEST PRICE of $5933 + $59 delivery = $5992. (I have a payment docket from them)

I'm still not sure if CashRewards would apply 5% to this as it would make it $5695 with free delivery..

$300 more IF Cash Rewards works IS worth it but just cant see if their 5% is for everything

  • 65" at $1995 is the cheapest inhave seen it. I think good guys commercial had it a touch over $2k. Very tempting

    • Scratch that. $1895 at appliance central. Probably worth a post

      • I can't unsee the difference between QLED and OLED… But is it really worth the price difference to go up to an OLED? or would the Mini LED be a pretty good in between?

        • +2

I can't unsee the difference between QLED and OLED…

Yes, in a bright room, with a good QLED, QLED is far superior…

          • @jv: But you're not supposed to watch HDR in a bright room so that relegates you to SDR only. There are cheaper ways to watch SDR on a big screen than this.

            • @tp0: Why would you want to go worse even if you were just viewing SDR?

              • @cille745: Because you don't need the brightness, advanced local dimming or additional colour space for SDR. Just get a direct lit LCD that can crank out 500 nits or so and covers 100% of Rec.709

                • @tp0: You don’t “need” any of those things even for HDR - it’s just better

          • @jv: G5 LG OLED is superior to any OLED in every way that you could actually tell the difference in.

      • +1

I paid $3600 for the 85" at JB today including delivery and wall mount install if it helps anyone, have been tracking C8K prices for a few weeks now

  • +2

    I prefer the 115"

    • 32" more your size xx

      • +1

        It's not 4K

        • +1

          Who said you deserved that…

    • +4

waiting for when 115" hits sub $10k in a few years !

      • +1

Same, hopefully sooner rather than later

      • I look forward to when new houses will come with a media wall.. frameless built in wall screen..

and then we'll bundled into windowless shoeboxes with 'virtual windows' as the next 'housing shortage' fix

        • +1

We laugh but these TCL TVs are cheaper than the equivalent sized window from some places

  • bought for 6570 on sunday thru goodguys commercial. Dont know if they would honor price drop.

    • +3

      Call them and find out?

      • +3

yea already did, will take upto 10 days to process

  • +1

I just ordered the 75" version of this TV a few hours ago, i got the good guys to beat appliance central and also got the 5 years gold services extra and delivery for $2800

    • I've got my eye on the C8K 75" - would love to hear how you like it when you get it set up. :)

      • +1

Yeah i will share my thoughts :)

        • Same here, would love to hear about your thoughts

      • I've been using it for a little while now and it is great, really happy with it and the performance and quality are better then i expected :) let me know if you are after anything specifically :)

    https://www.binglee.com.au/products/100-q7qau-4k-qled-144hz-…

    • +1

I looked today side by side.. no one in their right mind would buy the Q7 if they looked at the C8K.. the C8K is far superior in picture quality and brightness..

  • Bugger, been planning to finally drop the $ on this one this year to replace our 100" projector in our theatre. Saw the deal here then got tied up with work stuff so missed the boat. Nice work to those that lined it up.

    • +3

      • No thank you. What?

      • +1

Gah, just saw this. Imagine it has gone now anyway, but thank you very much for the offer! By cart link I guess you mean one of those codes you enter after netting a deal via the online chat? I do recall doing that once previously with JB and they give you a code.

  • Damn, missed it!!!

    • +1

Available again via JB with 15% off perks deal which makes it cheaper than this.
