Meritline - Bear Grylls Compact Knife $19.95

13

I grabbed the BG knife as it seems to get decent reviews and is cheapest I've seen (they are going for around $30 plus postage on ebay). There are also some other items that people might like. Free shipping as usual.

i hope the knife isn't phoney like his show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UpSlpvb1is

    • I think the product review on the site will sort this out

      "yer! is really BG"

Link to the knife might help.

  • It's cheap but I worry if it is real as it ships from China. :/

"Ships from China warehouse. Most customers receive in 2-3 weeks."

  • Don't think you can import hidden blades. Could anyone confirm this?

    • i assume you mean things like flick knives? yes, those are illegal.

From the photos this isn't a flick knife. A sheath is a protecting cover, and is perfectly legal.

      • Thanks.

        • just for clarification in NSW you can't carry any weapon/knife around in a public place without a valid reason.

That is, however, different from import regulations

Carry a carrot in the other pocket and everythings dandy

        • That is funny.

        • +1

That's not a valid reason unfortunately.

        • i prefer a rocket in my pocket

    • Customs doesn't specifically say that 'normal knives' are banned…

      http://customs.gov.au/site/page4369.asp#e1066

Having said this, I would not risk it…The appearance of it can easily be mistaken for a 'weapon'…It's a $19.95 gamble that is not worth taking…

      • The gamble is not $19.95 mate, if you have something seized by customs because it is illegal they will also send you a hefty fine.

        • No fine. Had item seized & got letter saying item entered Australia without authority, so would be destroyed unless I could produce approval. I did not respond as that would be admission I had imported it. To issue a fine, they need to prove you imported it, that you weren't just sent it as a gift. $120 purchase wasted because I did not know the rules.

  • From the photos it is a fake, as the real one has a serrated section near the hilt (as bonus999 said)

100% a Fake. This site sells cheap and fake crap.

Bear Grylls knives are all made in China. So this is probably genuine. Or fake.

    • Even if it was a real one it probably still nothing speical.

I'd rather have a German, Swiss, USA or Japan etc made knife then some cheap crap made by Gerber.

      • Make one yourself out of some chewing gum and a paperclip.

Meritline have sent me several counterfeit products before, and i sent them emails about it, to which they respond that i was basically lying but was willing to send out refunds.

Some of the products are okay, but some product qualities are just shocking.

  • Meritline sells unreliable rubbish for cheap.

I don't expect this to be real.

  • It could be a fake or a revision that was never officially sold. I remember when i was about to purchase my first bear grylls survival knife for 60 bucks there was a 1st revision with lots of issues, it was was only given to people as a complimentary gift.
