                              • @impoze: Seems like even PLA will benifit from drying but isnt petg better then PLA for strength purposes? I dont only want to print PLA.

                              • +1

@impoze: So you can buy a dryer for $100. Maybe i just get ams 1 and then in the future if i need get a dryer.

                                • @Jklaro: You can get single roll dryers for around that.

DIY food dehydrators for a cheap option

You can even put the roll on your printer and cover it in a cardboard box to dry it Eric would cost you nothing extra.

                            • @Jklaro: You've had good answers on the drying already. In my case, I know I've got a high humidity issue, and the AMS2 also ticks other boxes for me. Depending on where you are in Aus, it may not be an issue for you.

                              • @EthicsGradient: Im in Melbourne. I will need a dryer. Now im trying to work out if ams 2 is better then getting ams 1 plus a side dryer.

                                • @Jklaro: each has it's pros & cons e.g.

                                  • multi filament dryer, all of the rolls should be similar filament as they have different drying temps.

                                • @Jklaro: Your call, but I don't think Melbourne is as bad as you think it is. Most of the year below 50%, kicking up to to mid 60%s in mid winter. Might be worth getting some other melburnians experience with this before lashing out.

                                  https://weather-and-climate.com/average-monthly-Humidity-per…

And it'll be lower in most indoor locations that are sealed off and warmer than the outside.

                                  https://science.howstuffworks.com/nature/climate-weather/atm…

I'm in Hobart - which already runs cooler than Melbourne, I'm less than 500m from the river, and the basement we are going to use for our printer is has got raw soil exposure. Our closed inside the house humidity runs above 60% for about half the year, and I'm expecting our basemen to run between 60 and 75 for most of the year (partly driven by soil moisture, partly by very consistent cool temperature). My decision was driven by a) having a bloody good idea about my moisture levels and b) having spare money available for the AMS2.

You could just get the printer+AMS now, try things out and get a separate dryer later if needed. Like @impoze says, you can dry out on the printer bed if needed.

                                • @Jklaro: Sunlu are about to release an AMS dryer for the AMS1. Possibly could work out cheaper than a printer with an AMS2 combo

                                  • @MaXcon: I seen a youtube video about that today. 10th july release date. So might with till then to see pricing.

                                • @Jklaro: Australia in general is a dry country, wait till you compare to the humidity in some tropical countries e.g. Malaysia, you sweat a lot more there.

People say you don't really need to dry PLA filaments, but for other such as PETG you will need to. I just bought an A1 + AMS Lite, so far only printing with PLA filaments. Going to try PETG soon for occasional prints, I have ordered the Creality Space Pi from Jaycar for $100: https://www.jaycar.com.au/creality-space-pi-filament-dryer-b…

                                  • @edfoo: PETG definitely benefits from drying.

                                    Removes any stringing and zits

I got Sunlu S4 for around $150 after codes/cashbacks and have done the AMS Lite Mini mod

                                    • @impoze: Is that now or some time ago to get that price?

                • @Jklaro: is that the fake full price though?

  • +1

I so want to buy another printer. Must hold strong.

  • 2nd wave of the sale is on now. Can’t see any major deals

    • Did you end up getting your printer? I'm probs just going to get the cool plate and some filament.

      • @eediot yup, thankfully ! Courier dumped it at the door, tracking number still says not found!! Toll IPEC / My Team Global Express are terrible! So is Bambi’s logistics / support with this unfortunately, let’s hope the printer makes up for it :D

        Has yours arrived yet?

        • They might have misquoted your tracking number? Good thing it showed up. Mine arrived on the Friday.

    • it's just a different round of filament and accessories.

      • Disappointing second round sale. All those sold out printers still not back in stock.

  • Was about to pull the trigger on an A1M but the PLA Matte colour I wanted is now OOS.

Do we know how often they restock PLA?

    • Sunlu/JAYO deal will be back soon..

      PLA matte prints beautifully though

      • New to printing. Sunlu/JAYO PLA comparable to Bambu's? Not going to have issues with it on the A1?

        • It's all I and many others print with on our Bambus.

Can even use the Bambu profiles. Generic are nerfed

Just print out some spool adaptors for AMS

  • What did everyone get for their mystery gift(s)? I got a wireless phone charger kit…bit meh! (With X1C)

  • Was everyone's gift included in the box? I have a second package coming from "dragonflyshipping" that is unexpected, so I'm wondering if it's that?

    • +1

Mine came in two boxes from two separate deliveries. One box is the A1 + AMS, the other box has the filaments, build plate, extra nozzles and gift box.

  • Does anyone think bambu could do update to have ams 2 dry at the same time as printing?

    • possibly, there's probably a reason why they don't have it drying & printing at the same time.

      • Yeah, I think when they resolve whatever reason it is (apparently its to do with weaker filament strength going through the feeder while being heated) you will see an "AMS 3" rather than an update to AMS 2. But who knows.

    • +1

Probably don't hold your breath waiting for that function. If you need the AMS 2 now, just buy it for its intended function.

  • I ordered the P1S when it had an ETA of 5th July. Still no news though. Anticipation is killing me

    • +1

I'd be surprised if anything happened on shipping side over the w/e.

Still, you're at a least week earlier in the queue than me!

      • My ETA is 4th July - no news yet.

        • an hour after the post got notification its shipped =)

          • +1

@AlexPotter: Got my notification for the P1S combo, which either means that they are shipping in any old order, or more likely, a big shipment came in and some of us are getting our toys earlier than expected (not complaining either way!).

  • What's the difference between P1S AMS 2 Pro Combo with Buffer and Hub?

    • Buffer allows one AMS, Hub allows more than one.

      • +1

Apparently, you can get the same result as the hub by combining the buffer with the 4-in-1 PTFE feed unit. Some people claim it improves on the hub.

(As part of my ozb credential retention, I'm going to find out how true this is shortly. Rolling in that $30 saving!)

        • +1

Might be a more budget friendly way by going with the buffer, say if you only plan to print up to 8 colours (two AMS), instead of 12 or 16 colours (three or four AMS respectively).

  • best nozzle sizes to go for, mostly PLA planned.

Was thinking 0.2 and 0.6 addons

    • +2

It's honestly pretty easy to stick with 0.4mm your whole life and merely tweaking the layer height you want to prioritise detail vs speed. And just get the hardened steel version just in case you buy GF/CF one day.

But I personally bought 0.6 and 0.2mm hot end addons. I think I'll stick with 0.6mm for most prints (since I'm mostly functional and don't mind seeing layer lines), and then have a 0.2mm as backup if I want to do text on a surface.

  • Do you need to get complete hotend or just hot end for harned steel and a 2mm end.

    • for which printer?

      • P1s

        • you can choose the whole hotend assembly for quicker changes or just the hot end which requires unscrewing it and also transferring the thermistor & heater block

          They have a short video

Video changing just the hotend is much more involved.

          • @impoze: Oh cool yer just a hotend then im ok with few extra scews. Thanks.

            • @Jklaro: If you plan on switching relatively often, might be better to get the complete hotend than just the hotend. IMO messing around with the thermister and thermal paste might not be worth the extra $30 saving.

              • @2-1: Or even go the Microswiss! (I've put that one off until I have a bit more experience - nozzle swaps look sweet, the ~$250 entry price for the hot end + 3 nozzles does not!)

                • @EthicsGradient: Yeah, those Microswiss solutions look good. I was initially going to order them too but saw a video comparing their CHT nozzle with the E3D obxidian and it's clear the Obxidian performs much better with layer adhesion at higher speeds - good enough to change my mind about Microswiss. It's a shame I found out too late as the Obxidian is now sold out on the bambu lab store.

                  Check out:
                  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsFdZYigH1g

                  • @2-1: I'm not too worried about print speed - I'm patient - I was interested in the MS for simplifying nozzle size change.

    • +2

      You don't need much.

Not essential but you could look at:

      • cryogrip/glacier plates
      • other PEI flex plates for different textures and effects
      • PTFE tube - bambu dimension spec
      • extra lighting
    • Did you go alone or with an ams?

        • +1

          good decision

        • Ams 1 or ams 2?

            • @Asian: You going to do any filament drying?

              • @Jklaro: There are other ways to dry filament without needing to get AMS2

                • @impoze: Yes im aware i was just asking to see how he was planning to do that.

  • +4

15/17% off sunlu/jayo filament deals are back on is on.

Still a work in progress but check all of the ebay listings & see some photos of filament type/colors

  • Beware of the latest bambu scam ads

  • If you prefer, Amazon sale pricing is now live.

It's inclusive of shipping but you can't really get accessories etc.

    • I was hoping for a cashback but looks like only 1%

  • Should i purchase hardened hotends for a beginner 3d printer for the p1s.

I was thinking .4mm .6mm hardened and maybe .2mm. But i dont know if i actually will end up needing this stuff.

And i hear about wipers do i need them. Im thinking i kinda want to get the deal now with the p1s purchase or should i just get p1s with ams and future look at getting hardened hot ends and gears?

    • You'll be fine without the hardened gears

Should have spare wiper in the box

      • What about hardened hotends

        • if you're going to buy hotends you may as well get the hardened.

Don't think 0.2mm has hardened though

    • +1

Your only option for hotends now is hardened (except 0.2mm)
If you buying the printer through bambu, take advantage of the add on discount and buy at least one complete hotend in a your chosen size. That way you've got a complete replacement ready to go.

There's spare wipers in the box, I've still got the original on mine, still looks new after 700 hours.

      • Other then the .4mm that the p1s comes with what other end have you used thats most used. Is .4mm hardened cover most my needs if the .4mm that comes with it needs replacing?

        • Other hotend I use seldomly is a 0.2mm but only in my A1M.
The majority of users print with a 0.4mm, it's the most versatile size.
          While I also have a 0.6mm, I haven't used it yet

    • +1

I've got other sizes of hot ends and honestly, it's been almost a year since I could last be bothered swapping it out - 0.4mm is the goldilocks nozzle for everything I print.

Smaller nozzles can give you finer details or help print tiny objects, but they take longer too. Larger nozzles print faster but sacrifice some print quality.

  • +1

Can save a further 5% Off buying through Amazon with PayTo

  • What courier do Bambu Lab use and do they require a signature or will the just leave it by your door?

    • They use Toll Ipec (Team GE) for large items, but I believe they use auspost for smaller parcels.

      • In that case I should probably get it sent to work, my experience with Global Express delivering to a home address hasn't been great.

    • TOLL Ipec left my P1S at the apartment complex without knocking or getting any notification. Good thing I had been refreshing the status page and had stayed at home to wait for it, haha

  • -1

I ordered a p1s with AMS2, and it quoted preorder 12th July. I got my p1s a few days ago and other accessories over four separate packages - but no AMS2 (I appreciate its 12th July now as if this posit). The order status says "fulfilled" - is that correct with the last item still outstanding? I chatted with live chat but the agent just gave a generic response, and didn't answer the order status query.

    • +1

I just checked my order with live chat due to the same thing. The AMS2 looks to have restocked yesterday, so will be shipped next week.

    • +1

Bugger - I think I'm going to be in the same position! Order marked as fulfilled, with one package still on its way - with a shipping weight of 18kg, I think that is the P1S.

So I guess I'll be waiting on the AMS2. I also noticed my P1S buffer kit didn't include the PTFE tubing, so I'm hoping that comes with the printer or AMS.

    • +1

Double bugger. P1S without AMS2. Fingers crossed for shipping shortly.^H^H^H^H^H^H

Update: tracking number provided from BL, looks like it will be via AusPost.

  • Just got the AMS lite for my A1 printer, stupid me didn't get the combo in the first sale……. arrg…. would have been so much easier not switching filament all the time :( Lesson learnt

    • One of the massive quality of life benefits of the ams lite.

  • Does P1S vibrate or shake and need a very sturdy desk or is it pretty stable?
Just considering all the factors before I purchase.
I also can't decide between AMS1 + EIBOS Filament Dryer Series X: TETRAS, or AMS2.

  • SO tempted to upgrade my ender 3 v3 se which I got this time last year.

    • +1

I got the Ender V3 SE as well probably in the same sale as you. After having trouble with setting flow rate etc. for the 100th time I went for the Bambu X1C in the Bambu sale that was on at the time. Very happy so far. I had plans to fix up the Ender but so far it has just sat on the shelf.

      • The Ender 3 V2 is why I had enough of 3D printing and got rid of it.

Now I'm considering a A1 to get back in. Sale ends in a few hours so need to make up my mind soon.

        • +1

Night and day compared to the old days of Ender tinkering.

Forget about bed levelling, z offsets, modding fans, and other electronics.

    • +1

Do it, you won't regret it.

Forget about manual bed leveling and noist fans at idle!

      • But what will I do with the ender?

      • Ended buying the a1 combo!

        • Nice, you'll love it.

You can prob sell the ender for 150

  • +7

As expected, Bambu has adjusted pricing after the sale.
You won't save as much as the sale but they are now cheaper than before the sale.

For those that missed out on the sale, the difference for some printers is not too much (e.g. $50 for A1 Combo)

I inquired via Bambu chat about the free gifts as everything has now arrived. They claim the free gifts were limited and I’ll get nothing. No I’m not ok.
