Pulled the trigger at $353 delivered on eBay on the weekend, it’s always the way :) nice find

    • It's the OzBargain way. Can you cancel that order?

      • +8

It’s not worth the hassle over a few bucks I’ll cop it :)

        • +1

I'm tempted, got one for me and another for me nan, 26 buckaroos is almost a medium coffee these days!

    • Same here. Thought that was a great price…

  • Thanks Op, what does scheduled Uber delivery means? Do I need UBER account?

    • +2

No Uber account required. Scheduled means you choose a time slot for delivery.

    wish they had V8 Absolute

    • +1

Wish they actually worked a damn, having one myself

      • really, I never owned, used few times though thought it was ok except so limited battery life

        • t’s definitely not the same as it was five years ago—back then, Dyson stood out for its strong suction and top-notch quality. But with the market so crowded now, there are plenty of other brands that outperform it on both carpet and hard floors.

          • +1

@cisco: What's a good carpet vacuum at this price range?

        • Well, they work for 10 mins at full power. And full power is not, in my experience, good enough. The "regular" setting runs longer but is truly woeful

        • +3

I personally wont choose the V8 at this price range. Pay a bit more and you can get the Samsung Jet 75E, Ryobi R18XSV914, Shark Clean and Empty or Bosch Unlimited 7. All have more power and feature than this V8.

          • @raperozbargain: Unless they have bigger batteries, or run for a shorter time, I doubt they have more power. I'd say just pay less for similar quality rather than pay more for dubious claims of better performance.

            • @Horacio: Sorry, let me clarify. There are more power efficient models at this price range. I'm using the Jet 75E and it's running well on medium power (the V8 doesn't have this option) and lasts 25 mins. Also I can quickly swap another battery for the Jet if I need more running time. You cannot swap battery on the V8 without tools. Not to mention the Jet gives you more brush heads out of the box. I think it's safe to say the V8 is quite outdated and only worth if it's priced under $300

          • @raperozbargain: Is it just me or is there little in the way of reviews for the Samsung Jet 75E? All of the review's I've found have been for the Jet 75, which is different.

            • +1

@mahgo: I think the Jet 75 & 75E are pretty much the same. I compare the specs and see same wattage, same battery, weight and most of attachments. I dont know ab other markets, but maybe Samsung AU just try to make more profit by rebranding the Jet 75 and said it's an updated model. Anyway, it's fine bc the 75 still works well now. You can even watch reviews for Jet 90 to know about the 75, cause they are the same vacuum. The 90 just has different charging station and an extra battery.

Waiting for a deal on the v10

    • With the same code, the v10 is $535 delivered. Not the cheapest price

      • was about $450 a few weeks back I think!

    • +1

Got both. Giving the V10 to the fam and keeping the V8.

V8 is quieter, lighter, more suction on the lower setting, emptying ergonomics are better, V10 has a stupid right angle channel that clogs.

*Note - paid $0 for both. Someone chucked out the V8 because it was clogged at the powerhead.

V10 thrown out as it was clogged in the stupid right angle channel.

      • Got a free V6 that had a concerningly large amount of dog hair in the pre filter. Replaced and all good to go.

  • I have a V6 Absolute that I bought from a Big W deal posted here in 2018 with a dead battery. Is it worth getting this, or find a genuine replacement battery for the V6 Absolute (if it's still in production)? Nothing wrong with it other than the dead battery.

    • +2

If you've already got 18V tool batteries, find a compatible adapter and use those - you can get up to 4x the capacity and recharging them is way quicker!

      • Will give that a try. Thanks

        • It's sooo much easier to clean out the V8's dustbin

          • @Nat4an: If it were the Absolute I would go for it. I might give this battery + charger hack a go and get another year or two from the V6 Absolute for now.

      • Dyson batteries have slightly higher voltage.

        • The adaptors typically have a boost circuit in them

        • V6 - V8s are 5 cell packs (same as your average 18v drill pack).

          V10 has the 6th cell.

          • @tunzafun001: No they don't. They have 6 and their battery packs are rated 21.6v, 3.6v x 6. Mine had sony batteries in it. 1 out of the 6 batteries was bad and wasn't giving it enough power.

            • +1

@zealmax: Sorry, just looked at an open pack on my bench and you are right. Having one of 'those' days yesterday.
The V10 definitely had an extra cell, so the V10 would have 7.

Definitely stand by the fact they need two cell rows for the boost function. So ideally you want a 24v 4Ah or 6Ah battery pack.
Boost is too much current for the standard Dyson battery pack with only one row of cells.

Did you manage to replace the bad cell? In theory if you don't press the switch you won trigger the Bms. If you do, you will need to reflash it/ buy a new BMS from AliEx….or as above, use a battery that the Dyson always should have had.

              • @tunzafun001: I bought a new pack on sale from Dyson for about $85. Not worth trying to replace. The cells are really good for powering torches. The sony cells are high drain and perfect for the torch.

    • +1

V6 Genuine batteries go for around $120-140, would be worth the investment as all the other parts appear to be working fine.

      • +1

        NEVER buy a Dyson battery.

See my other posts re environmental criminal/ bricking perfectly good batteries.

They are a single row of unbalanced cells. They CANNOT handle the discharge current of the boost function.

The only way a Dyson will last using the Boost function is to use a 4Ah or more drill battery (need at least 2 rows of cells for the boost function).

Yes, I am saying that not one single Dyson is fit for purpose and can back that statement up with facts.

        • Sadly tool batteries seem to also lack balancing. See tool scientist videos on Milwaukee forge.

Have DC35 multi & V6. DC35 12-14yo still going with original batt. V6 original batt. didn't last, replaced with aftermarket also rubbish. Just received Dyson-Makita adapter from Amazon for $20 works great!

      • +2

Been using a Makita adapter for almost a year now. Can confirm, great buy and vacuum still works without a hitch.

      • Didn't even adapters existed for these. Will look into them. Ta

      • +1

I have exactly the same 2 Dyson, and similar experience. V6 original battery lasted for less than 4 years. After market battery from Amazon has been working for 2 years.
My 10+ y.o. DC35 is still using the same original battery!!

        • DC35 doesn't have the built in BMS hand grenade. No cell balancing enabled in the modern Dysons, yet it will brick a perfectly good battery if it gets out of balance.

Pulled heaps of "Dead" Dyson batteries apart…never found a dead one yet.

          Criminal much…yes.

Only way to recover is to flash the BMS (GitHub).

    • Has anyone done this with the V8? I understand the Ryobi chargers can have issues?

      • Go on? Never heard of anything but haven't looked around much. Was planning to go this route when our new Dyson battery goes over the edge

    • +3

Do not buy a Dyson battery..ever!

They don't enable the cell balancing (which is a non negotiable in battery packs).

Your Dyson battery pack will actually be fine. Just one cell is probably 0.3 of a volt different. So Dyson BMS says it's dead…
Dyson should get a $1000000000 environmental fine.

Put my Dyson cells in an e scooter. Tonnes of grunt left in them.

Buy a drill adapter from Ali Express. Your drill will responsibly have internal cell balancing.

I’ve had a Dyson V6 since 2016. In 2022, I replaced its battery with a larger third-party one from eBay for under $50—it’s still going strong. I recently bought a V8 and noticed that the V6, with the upgraded battery, has similar or even better runtime in Max mode. The only downside of the V6 is that the roller brush tends to get tangled with hair. My point is: don’t bother with genuine batteries. To make new models seem better, manufacturers often just use higher-output, larger batteries to justify the upgrade.

      • Any chance you can share a link or name of the one you bought from eBay? Tia

        • +1

The original seller on eBay has gone, the keywords to search: 9000mAh 21.6V Battery for V6.

  • Any tips on how to stack the $30 instore voucher with this?

    • This deal25 is Online only so you can’t stack instore vouchies

    • Was about to ask the same thing! Im guessing go to cart with code applied, take it in store and show them? Then use voucher?

  • Can V8 be used as the main vacuum cleaner for home?

    • yes it's replaced our bagged vacuum.

    Nice find

  • Why does it show $357 after discount in my case ? ( The original price is $397)

    • Add a $3 item from the description

      • Thank you. I came back to the landing page and the promotion upon $400++ order value popped up. There is 5% cashback with Topcashback, not sure whether it would apply though.

      • I asked the $3 item yet my cart shows $347?

  • +3

I attempted to match a price with JB Hi-Fi, but they declined to price match using the online code. Just a quick update for anyone considering this option.

    • It’s bizarre they won’t price match themselves , as they own them . A sale is a sale

  • Thanks op.

  • Will buying a cordless vacumn bring me into big 2025 technology compared to the old crappy line heavy and loud ones i have currently ?

    • Yes

      • I'm tempted to buy one of the kogan ones like <$180.

but yeah would get a lot more vacuumning in my bedroom I reckon if i had one

    • +3

Read my posts above if going for a Dyson.

Personally, buy a cheap used V8. Get a drill battery/ plus adapter for it.

The stock battery has no cell balancing, which all turns to poo if you use the high boost setting. Cells get out of balance, perfectly good vac bricks.

      Use a 4ah drill battery, won't have a problem.

      • fyi, I've just posted this… was wanting to get your reply / response.
so.. did I stuff up by getting this..? Dyson WashG1 2-in-1 Hard Floor Cleaner and Dyson V8 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner Bundle https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0F9LBYBF8

and re the drill adapter and a battery to go with it. what's the best way to get these ? if it's aliexpress , what would you search for ?
        thanks

        • +1

No idea about the G1 sorry.
V8 is probably as good as the Dysons get in my opinion. So no issue there. Just when the battery starts flashing, it's just the cells being out of balance. Only thing you can do to prolong the original battery (apart from add in the balance resistors and flash the BMS), is to leave it overnight before putting it back on charge, and don't leave it on charge permanently. Also, use it boost function minimally as you can/ short bursts.

  • Hi is the hair screw tool any good? Never had it in the V8 package either got several years ago

  • Anyone had success paying with Giftcards? Doesn't immediately appear to be excluded

  • Guys - could anyone suggest or have tried Shark Pro IR300 Cordless Vaccum, how is it ? and whether is it worth to make a purchase over this Dyson V8 machine ?

I will be using for tiles as well as on carpets. I think Shark has more suction power than Dyson V8. I'd really appreciate your recommendations/suggestions.

  • I think its sold out for quite a lot of places in Sydney
