Looking to buy one, I found this below but how is real world performance? And is there anything else to take into consideration?

    • Bin capacity: 0.76 liter for the V10 versus 0.5 liters for the V8;
I don't care for this (others may)

    • Battery runtime: 60 minutes for the V10 versus 40 minutes for the V8 (with non-motorized tools and on the lower power setting for both models);

    • Airflow: 150 Air Watts for the V10 versus 115 Air Watts for the V8 (for the MAX power setting on each model).

    TIA

    • There are V8 vs V10 performance tests on YouTube

      • Yup I've watched a couple. I'm more so interested in how they both compare after time rather than out of the box performance.

        • IIRC a few peeps claim because of the unbalanced structure of the cells in a Dyson battery - using the Boost function too often will brick the batteries YMMV

          • @Wally: That sucks, I found my v8 doesn't really have a lot of power behind it unless I use the boost function.

            • +1

@Wilociraptor: I think I've read that every time. These things can't cheat science, as cut as they may be. They're literally OK. And if you want GOOD/GREAT, you'll get 10min of that.

          • @Wally: I have the V10, for about 5 years. Indeed, the boost power just stopped working 2 years ago, after some months we brought a new battery(surprisingly cheap and easy to replace), and now it works again. So the boost stopped working but the rest of the power levels and battery were fine, well old and didn't last for more than a few mins.

    • We've had the V8 for two years. We get 20 - 25 minutes of runtime using the motor bar head.
It does a great job on rugs and carpets, but it's only enough runtime for a few rooms, and it takes 5 hours to charge.
We've tried a Makita battery adapter from eBay, and it works OK, but the V8 doesn't fit in the charger with the adapter (so we have to put the Makita battery back on a Makita charger).
Bin capacity has never been an issue.

      • How much runtime do you get from the Makita battery?

        • The Makita adapter only worked for a few minutes, as Dyson batteries are 22V and Makita are 18V.
The adapter I had did not convert voltage - there may be others that do.
In theory, the Makita should run about twice as long as a Dyson battery (5 or 6 Ah vs. 2.4 Ah for the Dyson).

        • I have two V8's on Makita battery, on 5amp, getting over an hour minimum.

I have gone from running out of Dyson battery during a single clean, to getting 3 or 4 house cleans. Works on normal and high speed just as well. Even on 3 amp, it is still longer and stronger.

        • +1

I used a Dewalt adapter but even with 18v vs 22v the 5ah Dewalt battery lasts at least twice as long as the original did when new. Fortunately the red low voltage light works with the adapter and lets you know to change batteries before they are exhausted and potentially damaged. I've measure the voltage and the battery is still showing just over 18v when the red light comes on

          • @mauricem: This is very useful info! Thanks for sharing.

      • Good to know, any noticeable performance change between them? How long do you get with just the Makita?

        • Apologies - my comment was misleading. The adapter "worked" but only for a short time.
The Makita and Dyson battery systems use a different voltage.

      • I get less than 10 mins with my V8, you're doing well! Never ever Dyson again

        • +1

you probably had it set to max, that only lasts about 7 minutes

          • +1

@Qazxswec: Indeed, I find the regular setting is useless.

      Also would like to know.

Our house is not small. So we are also looking at Dyson Ball Origin Animal Upright apart from V10. Alternatively I am considering to get one of those robot clean and mop unit + V8 for the corners, stairs or a quick spot clean. Or is it worth it to get V10 + Roborock? Any ideas are welcomed.

Another thing for me to consider is that I have $400 ebay gift cards due to expire mid July. Off topic now, does anyone know how many gift card can I use on one ebay transaction?

      Thanks

      • i have a dyson 240v corded and a cordless vac, use the 240 for the full house clean and the cordless for mid week. can’t beat the 240v dyson especially with the power head if you have carpet. cordless i have is xiaomi, but thinking of getting the v10.

        • +1. We have the V10, and it's good for odd jobs but comparing to anything plugged in, it sucks(not good suck, bad suck)

    • +3

Im the guy who does all the tech rants about ole mate crim Sir Dyson.

If you have to buy one of these…. Get the V8.

Better suction on normal mode (which is all the Dyson batteries can reliably handle), far less noise, weighs less, cheaper.

    • V8 15mins max battery life on high setting. Just got the amazon business deal for $280

  • +3

This other deal is $340 for the V8 and includes the hair screw tool & crevice tool. Might be worth the extra $13

  • v10 is same price delivered at costco

    • -1

That is the standard V10 without the fluffy cleaner head

  • +2

Curious how the new 400w brushless Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner at Kmart for $175 stacks up against the Dysons.

    • same haha

    • The Kmart vac seems to have a better battery than the Dyson 6 Cell

with the Anko having a 8 cell battery pack with 29.6V rechargeable lithium-ion battery (33.6V max charge)

But Anko unit weighs about 1 kg more

the Kmart only give 1 year warranty

    • TBH, for cleaning up some crumbs off carpet, probably not much practical difference. We have a V10, after 5 years the battery was shot, the replacement was about $30 and took 1 min to replace. Factor that in over the long term. The Kmart one might not even have a replaceable battery.

Cheaper V10 with CODE DEAL25 $535 Pick up or free delivery with uber (t&c applies)

    • That is the standard V10 without the fluffy cleaner head

      • -4

did you actually read the technical specification? "What's In The Box: Dyson V10 Cordless Vacuum, Motorbar(TM) Cleaner Head, Hair Screw Tool, Combination Tool, Docking Station, Charger"

Ive bought it yesterday and it comes with everything

        • +5

Do you even know what a fluffy cleaner head is? Learn to read. It's not even listed there in your comment. You bought the V10, not the V10 Absolute

Are you negging this deal because you are wrong?

        • +1

good guys have 2 v10 listed, $100 difference but descriptions are the same, what’s included is the same, is this the work experience kid doing a typo! or what is the difference besides price ?

  • +1

For anyone that's interested in the v10 might want to look at the shark power detect due to the giftcards deal.

Stick ends up costing the same and with base only an extra $80

Basically v15 levels of performance for v10 price and auto empty bin makes life so much easier.

  • Anyone had experience with both? V10 looks quite large/heavy

  • How these compare to the $100 ones on Temu

    • +1

You pay for what you get. Doubt those 100 bucks one can hold a candle to the v8. Happy to be proven wrong otherwise.

    • I bought a cheap one Viomi A9. It broke within six months and I found it hard to get parts for it. I bought a V10 in another deal from JB and have been quite happy with it. Biggest improvement over the cheap one are the accessories. Haven't had any hair stuck in any of the rollers. The Viomi A9, I would have to cut hair out of the floor tool.

The Dyson also handles rugs and thicker carpet better than the A9. Especially on Boost mode.

What sold me was the power tool attachments that I can fit to the Dyson. I couldn't find anything for the A9. And another battery was the same cost as the vacuum.

    • +1

Not from Temu, but those $120-$130 ones from Amazon. They work fine but haven't had one that lasted longer than a year. Though I'm impressed they lasted that long, I used it almost every day.

Using a Dyson V10 now and it's way better. Longer battery, more powerful, better accessories.

  • Get the V8 and do the Battery mod which you can just buy from Amazon or ebay. And use your Ozito/Ryobi Batteries

    • link to product pls?

      • +1

just google dyson v8 battery adapter, you will have a few options on Amazon, Aliexpres, Ebay.

        • +1

          interesting, thanks

  • For V10, Is it the only difference of Absolute is the extra fluffy cleaner head?

  • Laser or nothing!!!

  • Is the pet hair cleaner another attachment? Or does fluffy do that?

    • The hair screw tool included is for pet hair

      • +1

        Thank you!

  • Does Dyson still change the battery form factor every few years so they can stop selling you batteries for older models?

I used to have a Dyson. At some point the battery died and all I could get as replacements was shitty knock-offs which themselves lasted barely a year.

Ditched the Dyson for a Bosch, they've been using/making the same battery type for their tools for ages. In a pinch I could put the vacuum battery on my drill and vice versa.

  • Lmao I have 2 coming tomorrow from the last deal at 353…going to have to return them bc I just ordered 2 of these. Cheers Op

  • Which one is better? Dyson v8 or samsung jet 65

  • Why would anyone downvote this bargain?

  • +2

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/157094120796?itmmeta=01JYKFG3XBZ…
Same price which includes the hair screw tool & crevice tool.

  • Arent the shark ones better value these days?.

  • Is this eBay plus discount still working? It is not showing up in item page like it did yesterday and I prefer not to sign up to eBay plus for nothing. Thanks!
