$50 Sign up Bonus for Click Energy - an Online Only No-Contract Energy Supplier

30

Been with this mob for over 6 months now since moving to a new place. All their electricity plans are without contract so you can leave at any time and pay no exit fee. They also don't charge any surcharge for paying by credit card (INCLUDING AMEX).

Also, for those of you who have solar panels, their feed-in tariff is 4c per kwh higher then the regulated government tariff in your respected state:
http://www.clickenergy.com.au/downloads/Click-offers-4c-Prem…

I believe they only operate in VIC and South-east QLD at this stage.

I regularly price check my electricity plan (as well as all my other ongoing expenses) and this mob always comes as the cheapest when taking into account ALL their plans are no-contract. Bills are sent via email only and the entire account management is done through an easy to use and feature-rich online customer portal.

When I joined they had a sign-up bonus of $25 so now looks like they've upped it to $50 through their refer a friend program.

Hope I've posted it in the right place on the website but if not, please go easy on me (-;
Cheers everyone.

    If you've done the comparison work already, would be good to share. Best to prove there is a bargain here otherwise it comes across as you spamming a referral link.

    • The last time I did a comparison AGL was actually cheaper with my 10% off.

    • Good point mate and normally I would be more then happy to do so.
      However, the problem with Electricity prices is that they are dependent upon where you live, how much you use, whether you have solar panels with feed-in tariff etc etc.

      Therefore, what's cheapest for me might not be cheapest for you.

      Here are the websites I use on a regular basis to conduct my own personal price checks with regards to electricity prices:

      http://www.goswitch.com.au/

      http://www.energywatch.com.au/residential

      http://www.switchwise.com.au/

      http://electricitywizard.com.au/best-residential-deal

      http://www.shoparound.com.au/Compare/Cheap-Electricity-Gas.a…

      http://www.energyquotes.com.au/residential

      In all these websites, the last time I checked (which was about a month ago), the Click mob were the cheapest when taking into account they have no contract.

      If anyone here lives in Brisbane/Gold Coast area and is familiar with a better deal then a 9% ongoing discount off government rates with:
      1. No contract; and
      2. No credit card surcharge
      Please please please let me know.

      I have no loyalty to click or to any commercial enterprise for that matter. The only thing I care about is $$$$.

      • The fact that there is no contract is not such a big issue considering that most providers charge a small fee to break the contract (around $20 for Origin, Dodo, TruEnergy, Momentum)

  • Yeah, it's been $50 for a while now. I also signed up when it was $25. Not sure whether it's 'bargain worthy', but they've been great so far, very good rates and great customer service.

    Check out the price comparator before you sign up though if you're in SEQ.

  • QLD and VIC only.

  • Origin energy had 25% off in Dec/Jan. Not sure when that offer expires. They also give you credit ($25-$175) for switching to them.

  • Dang OP, just joined last week.
    Could have another $50 off from your referral :(

    • I learned the hard way mate (when I signed up to an ISP) that you NEVER EVER EVER go directly to a service provider's website and sign up!

      Now, before I sign up for anything, I always check if there is some sort of a rewards or 'refer-a-friend' scheme and whether joining through that scheme could give me better terms.

      We live and we learn.

  • IIRC, the direct debit discount (9% total?) by Click Energy is WORSE than the normal 7% discount for credit card payments - taking into account that the money is held in savings longer

    • You can direct debit from a credit card, so it's an extra 2% off to have it automated.

      • I thought direct debit was the monthly payment plan? Credit card is quarterly?

        • Well I'm paying a monthly direct debit from my credit card getting 9% off. It's estimated (badly) monthly, and then an actual true up.

        • Yep. That's exactly how it works for me as well.

  • There is no such thing as a no-contract energy supplier.

    See for example their customer charter which is at http://www.clickenergy.com.au/downloads/Click_Customer%20Cha… and which starts with the words:

    "This Charter contains information about your rights and responsibilities. Together with any Additional Terms and Conditions it sets out the Contract between you and us for the sale and purchase of electricity."

    • You are right. I should have said that there is no fixed contract term and that you can 'sack' them at any time and walk down the street to a competitor without paying anything.

      Gotta love free market economy…(-;

  • For 15% off for 12 months try http://www.clickenergy.com.au/our-energy-plans/click-honeymo…

    Thats what i signed up to a while ago and worked for a mate a week ago. PM me if you want to give me $50 for signing up as well.

      That's what I have at the moment as well. It's not seem to be showing on their plans list anymore since we got into 2013 so I assumed it is no longer available to new customers.
      That's why I didn't mention it in my post.

      If you can still get that, then I believe it is overall, the best deal on Electricity for a residential customer in the state of Queensland (where retail competition is available). Full stop.

      I challenge anyone here (and I know you lot LOVE these kind of challenges) to find a better deal on Electricity that is:

      1. In the state of QLD;
      2. Has no fixed term contract and/or break costs associated;
      3. Can be paid by credit card (including AMEX for higher FF points accrual); and
      4. where the discount applies on BOTH the usage AND service charge components of the price.

      Good luck (-;

  • WHAT ARE THEIR RATES LIKE?? WHERE CAN I FIND THIS INFO?

  • Just go here:
    http://www.clickenergy.com.au/our-energy-plans/compare-our-e…

    Then click (no pun intended) on the PDF link for the PIS (Product Information Statement) of the particular plan you are interested in.

    Please note that Click Energy only operates in Victoria and SE QLD.

  • In Cairns the only energy providers we can choose between are Ergon Energy and well Ergon Energy!

    I thought this was about an online orgy.
    Nothing to see here, move on please.

  • does anyone know how much they pay to solar pv customers? if its better then 44 cents that im getting at the moment i might consider changing retailer.

    • Based on what you're getting, I am assuming you are in QLD (like me).

      If so, they give you the government feed-in tariff PLUS a bonus of 10c per kwh for a total of 54c per kwh provided:

      • You consume less than 100 megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity per annum
      • You have a solar PV systems with a combined inverter capacity of up to 5 kilowatts

      On top of that, you get 7% off the government prices for electricity that you consume (i.e. import) from the grid.

      All the info you need is here:
      http://www.clickenergy.com.au/our-energy-plans/solar-power/

  • I've just signed up with them but didn't use the referral. I'm going to try and get them to do it retrospectively. First Ozbargainer to PM me gets the referral bonus if I can convince Click Energy to give it.

    • OK, sorted out thanks.
      Happy to refer anyone else who needs it.

  • I am considering signing-up with them, please PM me if anyone wants a referral bonus.

  • We are signing up with them this week - if anyone wants the $50 referral bonus PM or email me and I will sign up immediately.

    Chris :)
