Makita 18V 5.0Ah Twin Pack BL1850B-L 191C12-3 $199 Delivered @ Power Tool Specialists (Price-Beat & Trade-In $129.10 @ Bunnings)

550

I’ve just bought four 5 amp Makita LXT batteries for $258.20 which is $21.45 less than Bunning’s current price of $279.65 for two 5 amp

Go in one store and get them to price beat one twin pack by 10%
https://www.bunnings.com.au/makita-18v-5-0ah-battery-twin-pa…

Once they have agreed to do the price match, pull out of your bag or pocket ANY old 18 volt battery and they will knock another $50 off bring the price down to $129.10
https://trade.bunnings.com.au/campaign/battery-offer

Repeat the process at the next store that has them in stock or until you run out of old 18v batteries.

I printed off the Power Tools Specialist’s product page and also showed them the PTS webpage as they wanted to check if delivery was free.
I also printed off the Bunnings battery trade-in webpage as it included all their T&C’s for that offer.

They may pull their face when you show them the $50 trade-in but I said to them nowhere in the terms does is say you can’t do both a price match and the $50 trade-in together, nor does it stipulate it has to be an old Makita battery; I took in some really old dead Aldi WorkZone ones which they asked me to drop into the battery recycle bin by the entrance on my way out.

Tomorrow is going to be a busy day for Bunnings staff doing price matches.
You can use the same method to get this battery for $99.

    • How? The $50 off only work on twin packs.

      • Sorry, I didn't know the $50 off only applies to the twin pack.

      • +1

Even with price beat though, $135 for this battery is a cracker deal

I'll buy some Makita batteries tomorrow even though I don't own any Makita tools.

How is this a loophole? It's a legitimate price beat request.

      • Hey Nitroll, as bio says there's no loophole, it's taking Bunnings up on their offers.
Just remember it is Bunnings that continually boast about their 10% price beat and it's Bunnings who are "…committed to sustainability…." that are offering $50 for a crappy old battery. They make plenty of profit so taking a little hit for one day won't hurt them and anyway they soon drastically drop some prices to match Aldi's specials whenever it suits them.

  • Would this work on trading in 18v ozito batteries?

      Participating Brands
      DEWALT
      AEG
      Makita
      Bosch

      • +1

They're the brands you can purchase if you take in an 18v battery, not the brands the old battery has to be.

    • +1

Yes, unless they change the wording of the T&C's tomorrow morning because of YKW.

    • +1

Yes, trade any 18v battery. OP traded Aldi batteries.

A Makita battery died on me today, I think it was one of 2 of those identical looking knock offs that I bought through Ebay thinking they were real, be getting 4 new bats tomoz!

  • pity my next closest store is 2 hours away, I've got a tonne of dead ryobi batteries that I could swap these for

Thanks OP, tried this out this morning, worked like a charm. Don't forget to scan your onepass card if you have one for extra flybuys points.

    Cheers Op, great deal!

  • Anyone know if you can stack Bunnings price beat guarantee with Wesfarmers 5% employee discount?

  • +3

If you buy 4, total at checkout above $250, you’re eligible for $50 gift card, terms here, ends today

Argh, of only I had some old 18v batteries!

    • I hoped I'd gained my OzBargain stripes posting this deal but alas I just lost them because I missed getting the $50 gc.
I didn't know about this $250 offer damn it, or I would've had the cheek to ask the manager to go get me a second box of batteries instead of going to another store.

      • In your post you said you bought 4 for $258 you should be eligible ?

        • I did buy 4, but I went to a another store to get the last 2 as the first store didn't really want to sell me any at this price let alone 2 boxes.
Plus I'd only taken one battery in with me in store 1 just to see if they'd agree to do it at all, and thought they'd have time to work out an excuse or ring head-office if I had to trek back to the car-park to get the second duff battery.

@alidli: Yeah just realised what you meant, call customer service today tell them nobody told you that a spend n get promo was on & you purchased from two different stores, can they do anything about it, they’re usually pretty helpful

  • +2

Just went to bunnings to do this, the person before me tried aswell and they said they can't stack. The customer was a bit of a pain, being rude and disrespectful.

Then it was my go, when they told me they can't stack i respectfully told them in the T&C's that it doesn't say i cant stack. But overall i was just trying to be nice (i've worked in retail before, i know how bad customers can get). The Staff member decided to phone it in, and then i got accepted for the deal.

Happily bought my 2 sets of 2. Traded in 2 dead batteries my mate gave me.

Additionally, i noticed a poster on the way out, if you spend over $250 you can get an e-gift card. Found the site here, make sure you do it today!

Worked at cannon hill qld. Manager was called to check that they stack but he confirmed without hesitation.

    Great deal thanks OP!

  • The shop in melb is oos, my local bunnings called them so wouldnt match it.

  • This is slightly unrelated, but there are quite a few Makita tools ( with same Bunnings models number match) on sale @ power tool specialists to get the price beat also 😁

  • Rydalmere doesn’t allow ….

  • You mean the wouldn’t price beat?

  • Artarmon doesn't allow trading in anything other than the brands mentioned

  • Just went to Dandenong and they were a little hesitant. But. They agreed. With one condition.
They only price matched the 199 then gave me the 50 off for each of the 2 packs I got..
    So $149 each pack.
I'm still pretty happy with that.

And the 50 dollars E gift card has to be a 250 spend in one transaction.

    • Couldn't you have bought another Makita product worth $101 in the same transaction to get the $50 gift card?

      • Yes. I could have. Didn't need anything else though unfortunately.

Had to respectfully argue with two different managers at Oxenford. They tried to maintain that you could only trade in one of the four brands (I had a Ryobi). They honoured it at the end (price match plus trade in) but very unhappy staff and spend about half an hour plus there.

    • very unhappy staff

Why? Are they personally responsible? Also why would it matter? Don't they bin the battery anyway?

      • I don’t know mate, I don’t get it either. Maybe they get flagged to upper management if they honour too many promotions at once? I’ve probably spent 20k+ over 5 years just at that Bunnings though so it was disappointing.

      • you will find they likely have a recycling partner who takes the batteries to recover the valuable materials in the cells, they don't just bin the batteries. Those recycling partners can sometimes be picky about what brands they will pay for, and as there are so many different brands of batteries sometimes its easier to just say which brands they will accept rather than say which ones they won't accept.

The company i work for does a similar thing with our UPS batteries, we have a recycling partner but they only accept certain brands of UPS batteries which they will pay us for whenever it comes to time where we need to replace them. If we give them something off of their accepted brands they will either reject or give us a reduced amount.

I'm sure a big part of their reasoning for this is if it comes from a reputable brand that they accept they can trust they will recover a certain % of good recyclable material from there, whilst unknown brands will have more varied results.

        • That would make sense, but the OP said that they "asked them to drop into the battery recycle bin by the entrance on their way out", so there is no way for the recycling partner to know which batteries in the bin came from this promo.
