500 ml.
So
So $12 for essentially half a bottle
So smell some fart
I don't know, it might just be me, but i think you should have emphasised the "way" in bold instead of the "too expensive", too expensive kind of speaks for itself but if you highlight the "way", it really drives it home you know
The tasteful thickness of it…
Thanks op
You could get your profanity profanity profanity while getting profanity profanity in the profanity for that price.
Not for a premium extra virgin
premium extra virgin
Can you say that in a Borat accent?
Ultra Premium
Anyone tried this vs their normal oil (which I really like)?
IMHO it's actually richer, more complex and fragrant than other EVOO. I now buy a bottle whenever there's a discount.
Which version do you prefer? They have a few different varieties that I can see. I'll probably grab a bottle to use with dukkha and sourdough.
Great if you like EVOO raw - e.g. with some sourdough
It really is amazing oil - for anything that you will be eating fresh - salads, dipping oil, drizzle over smashed avo…..yum
but this cost of living crisis might have to leave it on the shelf till the salary rises….
It's disgusting that greed has taken over most companies post covid trying to up their profits. The increases don't match the small increases their employees received.
If you look at Cobrams most recent ASX updates, its entirely focused on making people pay more for their products.
They are no longer the 'cute little boutique Aussie family success story'.
They are a corporate with lots of middle management and execs that want to get paid.
Agree but I am surprised none of the others dropped. One tried for few weeks, no one followed, so they went back up.
People dont vote with their wallets they just swallow everything and keep buying.
Unfortunately cobrams own red island as well
Annoys me how much we allow market concentration
Wonder who owns Squeaky Gate?
greed has taken over most companies post covid trying to up their profits.
It was actually due to an olive shortage across the Mediterranean about 18 months ago.
Price are very sloooowwwlly coming down.Yes they jacked their prices up and took advantage of something on the other side of the world that didn't affect their costs.
There was a world wide shortage of olive oil production over the last 18 months pushing up pricing. Europe should be back on track now for output so the question is, will the producers reduce pricing to pre 2024? Unlikely.
no bloody chance!
it's all olive oil
Why i switched to rice oil 60% cheaper
$50 for a liter!!! Holycow!!!
$25/ltr on special…. I'll stick to my $38 (3.78L) Aldi extra virgin olive oil.
By any chance have you tried this back to back with the standard Cobram?
Thinking of buying this Aldi tub (just back in stock after a long period of an empty shelf). You're content with it? I've got a couple of empty Cobram bottles to pour it into.
Makes this oil which I buy from an actual local boutique seem pretty reasonable in compairson considering the quality
What is cobram ultra premium like? Ive only tried the cobram EVOO
What is cobram ultra premium like?
98 octane
Yeah cleans your insides real well.
Can this oil be used for light frying? Or just for dressing?
Of course it can, but why would you waste good quality EVOO when a cheaper olive oil will do?
Can this oil be used for light frying?
It would overpower the food…
Best to use a light olive oil for frying.
Can anyone explain why the price has risen so significantly over the past 18 months? I thought this was due to low yield in Spain/EU, but has since been resolved?
explain why the price has risen so significantly over the past 18 months?
Olive production was down across the mediterranean about 18 months ago.
Temperatures across winter were very mild and the fruit do not set causing a big shortage.
The harvest late last year was much better, but some late storms damaged a lot of the crops.
Prices should come down a bit this year, but may be another year before they come back to normal. Why can't you be this jv always?
Because he'll be too OP.
you gotta take the 99% inane nonsense with the 1% useful
Makes sense - thankyou!
Greed.
There's now an "ultra premium" version? Next might be "ultra premium extra extra virgin". $50/L is crazy. You used to be able to get 3L red island for $35 in 2022.
There's now an "ultra premium" version?
marketing.
It's not like Cobrams olive 🫒 fields are annihilated by Israeli bombing now is it that justifies this pricing ?
Sadly, yes. Intelligence shows that Cobrams was stockpiling olives deep in a bunker complex beneath a mountain.
MOP bombs were swapped out for MOPIMOOP bombs - Massive Ordinance Penetration Initiating Moronic Olive Oil Prices. Their use will affect EVOO production for years to come, according to analysts.
Lmao (profanity) Israel
Waiting for the Pro Max XL Ultra Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Pro MaxV XL Ultra Premium is out soon, Hodl.
They will only use less quantity to get higher price, so not XL and Pro Max version, they will not level up the quantity
this one or 1/2 Price - La Espanola Olive Oil 1L $13 @ Coles or Aldi one?
What are you using it for?
mostly cooking. Most of the time using sunflower oil for cooking however sometime use Olive oil for omelette.
Any light olive oil will do the job (I cook with Moro traditional or La Espanola), EVOO is mainly used for it's taste in dressings, etc.
This will be better quality but much more expensive per litre
Can't trust either.. olive oil is one of the most adulterated oils after petrol..
Didn't you see pics of P Diddy's crib? Olive oil, petrol, baby oil… all heavily adulterated.
UPEVOO 👀
We are trying supporting Aussie farmers while they care trying to chase us away to look for cheaper alternatives
What about Ultra premium pro max with inbuilt AI?
This is delicious with smashed avo on artisan sourdough
This seems a little excessive. I have been doing a bit of research on olive oils recently.
Was looking at a Goldi subscription - $75/3L delivered. ($25/L). Maybe sharing it with friends or family.
Landed on picking some up at a local market from Regan's Ridge (Moore River, WA) at $50/2L for organic, quality produce. I assume quality is better, traceable, and supporting small businesses. Would rather support local than imported goods from Spain etc. and would rather support local near my home than import from over east. This is standard pricing for them, and refills are $45/2L.
Happy for anyone's input on the above and/or to be corrected on any assumptions.
Talked to the vendor when I purchased. She told me she has just planted 80 acres but will be 5 years to maturity to harvest. Last season was terrible (too hot in November) and yields are down and they will likely run out of stock before next harvest.
At this price there still are 80 plus upvotes so if I were the sales manager at the producer I will be insane not to charge even higher… supply and demand, that’s it….not for me tho…
a sales manager is going trust OzB vibes instead of in-house data on price vs sales trends?
nah yeah mate
Thanks OP. It is a GREAT price for a very very good oil. But its quality (i.e., taste) isn't the same as it was 10 years ago or perhaps I found better products. Anyway, I will buy a bottle or two if it is still in stock.
This product existed ten years ago?
I've been buying it directly from them since at least 2014.
Isn't 3 litres of Australian Olive oil $54 at Aldi?
different league. Aldi oil is for cooking, this oil is for salads and sim. stuff.
Still way too expensive…
