$61 for a camera and solar panel is pretty good. Hopefully the camera is decent. Bought 3 for pickup.

    • As per comments it’s not continuous recording . Open 1 box for now

    • Doesnt seem to be stock in Vic. Would invove paying for postage.

      • Would end up up around the same price delivered then since JB delivery is $7

  • order placed for one, thanks OP

  • Thanks grabbed 2.

Showing as $99? wheres the price beat button?

  • Grabbed one, thanks OP! This evens out the $93 I paid for it on Amazon a month ago. Will either be another addition to our home or a first one for my old man's.

A less honest person would be price matching TGG with office works, paying 0.95 * $63 ($59.85) for a new one; starting a return on their amazon order and sending back their new, sealed item they got from officeworks to Amazon (~$7 postage) and pur the $26.15 towards another one at Officeworks.

      • +3

Haha, indeed. One day I'll have the time and energy to do all that…but it is not this day.

  • Could price beat at officeworks too, i guess.

Need the 4k to go on sale.

Hmm, tempting to get one for the front gate. Anyone price matched Bunnings?

Any good deals for an SD-Card for these cameras?

Do I connect my robots devices to this so they can start taking over world…

    • You do you.

    • +1

Point them at yourself, so your robots can keep an eye on you at all times

  • Any separate solar panels people been using with these?

    • Not sure if this helps but.

Q3: How long is the charging cord for the Tapo A201 solar panel?

Charging cord length is 20cm/25cm, and can be extend with the 380 cm long A201 extension cord in the package.

The solar panel can be installed a reasonable distance from the camera.

    • Refer pics 1, 2 from manufacturer's site. Also camera by itself claims "up to" 180 days battery, so even a few rainy days shouldn't be an issue.

    • It uses usb c to charge and quite a few cheap solar panels using that floating around.
My expience with the included one is it provides plenty of.charge so you could go smaller if your so inclined.

  • how much stock is left, the price is constantly falling and rapidly too

I notice this says it does WiFi. Does anyone know if it'll be possible to Camera_WiFi > Router_WiFi > PC_CCTV_Software, rather than using anything Cloud, PhoneApp, or SD_Card?

This camera doesn't support RTSP/ONVIF. That is not to say you couldn't hijack the in-app stream somehow, but it's not going to be an easy task. They apparently do this with Home Assistant plugins based on a quick google - though seem to be only wired cameras, not this one. I would presume most NVR software aren't going to support this …

      TAPO C410 - No RTSP/ONVIF sharing method.
Correct, No battery-powered cameras supports RTSP/ONVIF, even if they have solar charging. This is because RTSP/ONVIF requires always on 24/7 recording and battery-cameras do not support this application. This is to conserve the life of the battery itself as if these cameras recorded 24/7 the battery would drain in a matter of days or possibly even hours, depending on activity.

Has anyone put these in home assistant?

  • Does this have continuous recording?

    • +1

      No

    • I'm on the fence with getting this type vs putting in a bit more initial dollar (and wiring effort) in getting a wired outdoor cam for that sort of reason. Just the simplicity of constant recording, pan and tilt, no internal batteries to die long-term…

      • -2

get a simple usb camera wired up - continuous recording, constant power.

      • I'm in same boat - had Arlo system, but only used when I charge them (LOL). This one has solar, however, I'm not very confident if it would be install and forget. Next thing would be wired with continuous recording.. thoughts?

Ive got a mix of tech at my house, of the power goes out (deliberately) then ive still got coverage

      • That's the way to go. These sorts of cameras miss the start of events and criminals are now using wifi jammers making them useless.

  • Does this support WiFi 2.4 / 5 Ghz ie Dual band ?.

    • as per the specs Connections Wi-Fi: IEEE 802.11b/g/n, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi

Here's an alternative if you've missed out on Tapo C410 Solar Kit.
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Security-GENBOLT-Wireless-Floodlig…

    Standout features over the C410:

    • 15000mAh battery (vs 6400mAh on the C410)
    • PTZ capability

    On sale at $76.99

  • damn I just bought it from bunnings for $66 :( ripped off!

  • Battery barely moved in the first few days but since then has been dropping at a rate of around 5-10% each day. Any tips on which feature may be causing this?

    • Too many alerts. Have to do some digging which notifications you prefer, else everything that moves triggers the camera

Also you solar camera is in good spot? Also working ?
