Had this saved in a wishlist and saw it went on sale during Prime day deals. Not the lowest it's been but seems roughly where the sales for this lie. I believe it has local integration with Home Assistant without the need for external internet access (may be required for initial setup? I'm not sure).

Item Desc:

Ecowitt WS2910 Weather Station includes wireless 7-in-1 solar powered outdoor sensor body and color LCD display console. The integrated outdoor weather sensor collects accurate weather data and transmits them to the display console. You can directly view the live data in display console. Or you can view the live data on the Ecowitt / WS View Plus APP after Wi-Fi configuration.

  • how well do these integrate with Home assistant?

      Just note the TLS/SSL requirements

I have the Wittboy / Hub (GW2001CA) paired with HA and it was pretty seamless, all the sensors are exposed through the integration and though it was admittedly a couple of years ago now.. I don't remember jumping through any hoops to get it sorted.

      • I have the wittboy too. It's super neat and integration was easy.

  • Anyone know what size pole this fits on?

    • +1

I've got mine on 50mm round pipe, doubt it would be able to go much bigger than that. I reckon it could do as small as 20mm but havent tested that yet (manual says 1-2 inches)

    • I used a Bunnings antenna pole (Antsig?) that was about 30mm diameter and it works just fine. You can assemble it and adjust it a few different ways to fit almost any type.

If you want to save yourself the outlay, you can create an ecowitt account without a station and just look on the map around you for other stations. I have several around me that report every 60sec.

Thank you, this needs it's own post

    • Yeah, what's the use case for these weather stations in suburban areas? Just use BoM?

      • +2

Depends how far you are from local BOM station and whether weather is consistent. Canberra airport is the other side of some mountains to the inner North residential area, so cold mornings and winds can be quite different.

    • That is a great tip.. just found one far closer than on wunderground.

this dude saved me 150 bucks. lol

Is there a way you can do this and integrate the data of other stations around you with Home Assistant??

    • +1

I have an account - how do you use other stations without adding your own?

    • +1

There's a certain kooky joy to be experienced when announcing to the family a weather stat specific to the microclimate of your house. Ive also stalked the other EcoWitt stations around me, I've managed to locate 2 of about 7 listed on the app. One of them is mounted in a way that it surely gets a wind shadow and another is under a carport…. "No rain kids, again!"

      • Also the rain aeras can be so inconsistent the data from the other stations is useless. It can be sunny at home but raining at the end of the street.

    • +1

+1 just found out 2 of my neighbors have one. Saved me some $. Thanks!

  • What about the WS3800CA kit for $149.99. It looks like the W69 sensor is the same one as the 2910 uses but different display.

  • I have the ultrasonic wind gauge, separate from my rain gauge. It helps to have rain gauge accessible to clear out spider webs once/twice a year, whereas wind is ideally above roofline.
Whatever you get integrates easily with Home Assistant. I also have indoor temp/humidity in each room of the house.

  • I bought the ws2910 nearly 5 years ago and the sensor array is still working fine but the console failed about a year ago due to the batteries corroding. I replaced the console with the ws3900 which is a nice upgrade and added the lightning sensor and garden moisture sensors as well

  • Mine lasted about 4 years

  • Tried to link the WN31 thermometer as they are also on sale and great if you want to add other room temps to the main screen of the Ecowitt.

  • Not as low as Black Friday. Throw some with decent discounts and I give it a try :)

  • And why not getting the WS3800 version for less and with higher rrp?

    • Edit: Got the WS3800 with 40% off for $149. Similar everything except the screen is not flat on the back which is ok for me.
