  • Literally just bought this 6 days ago with that code and paid $879. What a pain!

Also worth noting the V15 is $784 with the SSPLUS code.

I got one of these about 6+ months ago, and it's legit already starting to fall apart like wheels on the head falling off etc.
I stupidly looked up reviews after I got mine, and found out that it's not just me and more than a few people have the same experience.

    • Ahhh yes, classic Dyson build quality

      • +5

My old V6 is doing just fine after 8 years, just needed the battery replaced. I'd say the old Dyson's have great build quality.

        • Yeah…our V6 after a decade of abuse is still going, and would be fine aside from the battery being somewhat degraded - pretty impressive really. You don't expect Lithium cells to be all that healthy after 10 years anyway.

Since the genuine batteries are so pricey and third party options iffy, I simply ordered the V8 from JB this morning at $307 delivered (now unavailable). Will throw a Makita adapter on the V6 and use it in the shed.

          • @Banj0: Yeah my brush head is looking a bit scratchy now days, thinking of getting a V8 absolute and keeping the V6 outside as a car cleaner. Might also just buy second hand as people price them to clear when the batteries die.

    • Yep, a wheel has fallen off my anti-tangle head. Time to see if Dyson will replace it. They had to do the seal near the barrel after only having it for a month

    • +2

Dyson support/warranty should sort that out?

On a side note, purchased this vacuum a couple weeks ago so I got something to keep an eye on

    this or the gen5detect?

    • +10

      This is the gen5detect

      • +20

        This or this?

    • This is gen5 detect

    • gen5outsize i mean

      • only if you have a very large house to vacuum. The weight of it is prohibitive. Suggest you go into a store and try it out.

        • +1

Yeh this. Even the gen5detect (for me) gets heavy after a while. I wouldn’t get one this heavy again …

          • @FrontBottom: Added weight training feature. Imagine the bi/triceps after vacuuming for a prolonged period.

Good vacuum cleaner. The green light will turn a small 1 min vacuum job into a housewide vacuum.

    • Yes.

Dodgy marketing from someone. Pre $70 code, it was $949 ~30 minutes ago, then ~25 minutes ago they raised it to $1579, then ~10 minutes ago down to $899.

That ~15 minute price rise now lead them to display:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/deals
Now the banner displays $1579 $899 (42% off)

Expensive for a vac. Paying for the laser tech? Turn on the light when vacuuming. Robot vac at this price

    • +4

dyson trying to create higher price point things that you don't need and just have more parts that can break

    • True story

    • Viomi A9 has an LED light on the front. Quite handy and seems to do similar to the laser. not bad for a sub $150 stick vac.

      • +3

For everyone arguing $100-200ish stick vac can also do the job, Dyson too expensive blah blah, consider this:
+ Most cheap vac doesnt have good seal and filter. It means fine dust will get out of vac and you possibly inhale it.
+ Cheap vac suction is rubbish on different types of floor, especially carpet
+ If you have pet or long hair, good luck getting them out of a cheap vac.
+ Many expensive vac has multiple cyclone tech, which prevents cloggage.
+ Battery life of cheap vac, no surprise, is also rubbish. In case it has long battery life, it sucks in nothing.
+ How easy to find replacememt parts if it breaks? You probably just throw the thing away.

Expensive is not necessarily good, but good usually equals expensive. For a stick vac, this is very true.

        • Yeah I wasn't advocating for it, just saying the laser can be replaced with a well placed LED for similar results.

      • +1

No thanks. Third party after market parts when thing break is a big no no for Viomi and such.
Had a cheapie dreame for under 200 bucks and had to chuck it in the bin 2 months later.

my first gen Dyson V8 is still chugging along and now I’m getting this for a dual Dyson setup.

        • Definitely not saying to get a Viomi. Ours will be ewaste once the battery goes.
Just pointing out the laser system can be mostly done by some cheap LEDs.

    • +2

Yeh not the same. The laser light actually shows up where the dirt is.

  • keeping an eye out for the Complete personally

    • Only really adds the dock and a few attachments

      • pretty required in our house- the standing dock is helpful in our laundry due to wall space, and the awkward gap tool is going to be a godsend.

        • +1

You can wait for a price that may never come though plenty of aftermarket stuff you can buy.

  • The fact this is considered a 'deal' boggles my mind. Maybe back in the old days stick vac's were crap and Dyson was the only good one but those days are well and truly gone.

    • The battery costs money compared with a power cord.

  • What is the difference between Absolute & Complete?

    • Few accessories

  • TGG has price matched via online chat.

  • Just curious re. the price of these vaccums.
I use a $49 vaccum (just a normal one with wheels), not handheld, going very very fine — in it's 10th year now.

  • Which is better? This or V15?

    • this

      • Thanks!

    • +1

Both have been on sale recently but we decided to buy the v15 as it has a trigger start which is easier for one handed vacuuming. The gen5detect has a push button start so you wont be able to stop/start as efficiently but the benefit is less fatigue im the hands/arm from constantly holding onto the switch on the v15.
      Gen5 also has stronger suction.

      • +2

        Thanks for the advice!

  • What's the cash back on this one?

    • 3.5% Cash rewards

      • I don’t think it stacks with code - but I would be happy to be corrected.

      • Thanks!

      • Thanks for checking this for me!

  • $849 with JUL2025 for those without eBay+

Finally pulled the trigger, $804 (technically $809 incl. one month eBay Plus membership).
