Came across this while checking if Amazon has any deals on the Brita filter jugs, unfortunately they did not.

Fear not, it appears Big W is having a clearance on this and a few more:
Brita Water Filter Jug Aluna 2.4L - White - $22.40
Brita Water Filter Jug Marella 2.4L - Blue - $26.60
Brita Water Filter Cartridge Maxtra Pro Limescale 2 Pack - $24.50

Assuming you can get a price beat at Officeworks on the 3.5L jug for ~$28.60:

    • Good ol Kmart here to undercut everyone, $15 and reviews are really good. Surprised it's not Anko.

Takes Brita filters too if you really want (but the Kmart ones seem fine).

I would not recommend the Kmart one. Build quality is noticeably poorer, e.g. the "lid" is a slide out mechanism that is difficult to clean, the fit/seal around the filter is much worse so it doesn't filter much of the water, and the filter expiry are a bunch of small and very difficult to move latches.

Agreed. I didn't like the Kmart one either. Good in theory, and I loved the idea of saving a buck, but didn't like it at all. It feels very cheap.

I threw away our Brita one because it start getting mouldy and switched to Kmart. I noticed no difference. 🤷‍♂

  • want to get a Btira glass filter jug since I've heard plastic isn't great for health, but the glass ones are really pricey about $120!

The filters are made with plastic though. I really don't think you're even going to get away from it

        …life in plastic, it's fantastic…

I too avoid plastics if possible. But is hard with jug filters. Eventually I want a plumbed filter.

At least you're not heating the plastic jug which is when plastic leeches the most.

      Filters are still plastic 😂

      • +2

There's a difference between water passing through plastic for a few seconds and sitting in plastic for hours/days.

Filters are also replaced frequently compared to plastic jugs/bottles which leech more over time and they degrade.

Brita Water Filter Cartridge Maxtra Pro Limescale 2 Pack - $24.50

I bought an 8-pack of BRITA Maxtra Pro Water Filter Cartridges for about $45 on DoorDash, mine is 40% off, $30 max discount.

    • +1

Yeah the cartridges are too expensive and never on special unless targeted like you have.

  • Why does it matter that jug is plastic since it has a filter? Isnt that the purpose of the filter anyway.
    Just saying.
