Can't be shipped to a QLD address ("can't be shipped to the address you selected."). VIC works fine though…

edit: Was able to force the order through by setting it to a VIC address so it would continue, then changing it back to the original QLD address. Thanks OP.

    • +2

I couldn’t get it to ship to my VIC address. But another Klein Tools product that I had in my cart and that couldn’t be shipped yesterday could today be shipped ok. Weird and frustrating.

      • +1

        This. You're not alone.

    • was getting that too, seems to be fixed now. just shipped to a QLD address.

    • Just checked It shows shipping to Qld in 1-2 days for me

  • +2

Nice one thanks OP. Cool gadget, had to grab it.

  • +10

don't know why, but bought one.

  • +4

These are so handy and a great price. All those people who just bought new DeWALT table saws should pick one of these up.

    • +1

Serious question here as I have both- what use would this be with a table saw?

Far as I know the important angles with a table saw are all relative to the surface, and you'd establish than with something like a set square.

Shouldn't really matter if the table surface is tilted a couple degrees off level as long as the blade is reliable 90 or 45 degrees relative to the table.

      • +1

I imagine it can be used to monitor the tilt of the blade relative to the table, by attaching magnetically to the blade.

      • +2

You zero the angle gauge against the table first, then measure the angle of the blade by attaching with the magnetic base. You can then set and adjust the 0 and 45 angles perfectly. I never adjusted my 0, it was already good from the factory, but 45 needed some adjustment to the end stop. Cuts come up perfectly flush when joined into a box. I don't think I can set 45 degrees by eye with a combination square anywhere near as well.

        • Very nice- thanks.

Being able to re-zero the tool is a bit of a conundrum. If you want an absolute zero measurement then you need a reliable reference to set it against, and I can't think of anything reliable :/

Faulty units are called Ashley because they always lean towards one side over another.

  • +27

Can’t wait to slap this on any building surface and explain “this is non-compliant!”

    • +11

It looks good from far, but is far from good :)

    • Exactly same reason I bought it, the builder just did the driveway so I can measure it

    • -1

What if they slap you back with a lawsuit?

      • +5

Ah yes, the famous: "He said a mean thing to me privately" lawsuit

  • +6

Tried to use my phone as a level with its built in gauge. Forgot that the buttons and camera bump means no edge of the phone is even level. Don’t make the same mistake.

    • +5

I’ll try to grind my button down so it’s level with the phone.

    • +1

Just tried with my iphone, the accuracy is just 1 degree which is pretty useless imo.

      • +4

I mean even if you eyeball something, its accurate enough for most decorative things.

    • My phone only has buttons on one side thankfully

    • +1

I have used it in a pinch, just take case off and use the edge that was flatter. Probably more accurate than the basic traditional bubble level I inherited from the last workshop supervisor lmao

      • Can't beat a bubble spirit level for accuracy and reliability.

Takes 5 seconds to check. All you need to do is rotate it 180 and if it reads the same, it's good to go.

Would never entertain the idea of using a phone as a level for anything critical.

  • Thanks. Bought 1

  • +1

Can get a similar device (not this brand) off ali for about $10

    • +1

As for most tools. You can get $500 dollar multimeters and you can get $5 multimeters.

      • You get what you pay for.

  • Can't ship this to me either (NT 0820)

Frustrating given it's a tiny object!

  • +3

    Make the noiiiiise.

    • +3

No noise on this one, sadly. Better have a cup of tea.

      • +2

        I want more escargot!

  • Won't ship to country Vic, will ship to Melb., won't then change back to country Vic.

  • -7

Can't ship to QLD, can these type of restrictions be put I in the title please?

    • +8

Expecting the OP to check shipping to every area of the country is a massive ask

      • There have been a few Amazon deals specifically for Klein tools that aren't shipping to QLD and some other states, its been seen before as per other comments and the link above. Other deals that are state specific generally specify that. Seems reasonable.

EDIT - i tried family address on the Gold Coast, south Brisbane and north Brisbane, no dice. Good deal though, thanks OP.

    • +3

I had the same to Brisbane, changed to a gold coast adress progressed through to next screen then changed address back to Brisbane and success.

      • Glad that worked for you and you scored the deal :) The exact same thing didn't for me unfortunately.

    • +1

Look who’s talking! Says the expert who has gone 15 years without posting even one deal. Impressive!

  • Is this a digital version of a spirit level?

    • +2

Except far more accurate, and faster.

Attach to a metal straight edge (of any suitable length), and you've got a digital spirit level that would otherwise cost hundreds.

      • Attach to a metal straight edge

Was thinking that until I realised my long spirit level is aluminium.

  • Looks like it's back to $74

  • Looking like this deal has expired , im getting $74

    • Was temporarily out of stock, reverted to a third party seller.

Now back in stock, sold and shipped by Amazon.

  • oh i forgot to place order, and it went back up. fml

    • Buy this and return where you purchased from last week!

      • yeah, I thought about it but is it worth the hassle. I was tossing up on a cheaper version which probably would have been as good!

    • $49.99?

      • yep! I use it for work but that's life

  • Got something very similar on aliexpress for $15 a few months ago. It is blue.
