  • I have used this model and it works very well.

    • My mum has it and likes it :)

    • Same! For what you get for the price it's decent.

  • How many days does "prime day" go on for?

I believe the 14th is the last day

  • EcoTank ET-2810 does not have automatic duplex

    • Beat me to it!

  • Wow, I haven’t bought a printer for more than 10 years and I’m surprised that this doesn’t even offer auto 2 sided printing!

Thanks OP, was going to buy it but luckily found out:
“The ET-2810 is not equipped with an automatic duplexer, which would handle flipping the paper for you. “

    • Yeah even the $110 brother laser printer has automatic duplex but only a monochrome printer.

2850 which is also on special had that I believe

      • 2850 also supports AirPrint, which some of the cheaper ones don’t.

  • Do these start having problems and fail after a few years like typical inkjet printers?

    • +1

From reviews i read you need to print regularly with ink tank printers or there are problems with heads getting clogged.

I've had to chuck so many inkjet printers that were mechanically perfect, but had clogged heads from not being used for a while, that when I got the EcoTank I created a test page that printed all colours, and adopted the practice of printing it on the first of every month. Doing that with a inkjet that uses cartridges would cost, but EcoTank ink is so cheap it costs nothing to do it, I just have to remember. So I don't know whether its heads will clog like other inkjets, because I haven't given them the chance to. But I expect they would.

The one ink problem I've had with the EcoTank is that somehow I ended up with an air bubble in one of the lines. I wasted a lot of time and ink - though not in dollars because the ink is so cheap - clearing it because I couldn't just tell it to keep doing test prints with just that colour. I suspect now though that the waste ink pad probably needs replacing, and I've heard that's an issue.

    • I heard EoTank is a lot better than inkjet, and last a lot longer.

        :) EcoTank is Inkjet

          :) EcoTank is Inkjet

They are ink not inkjet, I heard EcoTank last a lot longer than traditional inkjet printer and cheaper to run.

@superforever: I have one, and they are an inkjet. The only difference is the ink is stored in separate tanks, not just in the print cartridge.
I’ve had mine since 2021 and print infrequently. I’ve had to use the cleaning feature a couple of times, but is otherwise going well.
The black refill bottle was $11 for thousands of pages.

            • @mskeggs: Same here. Infrequent user, need to run a cleaning cycle after non use otherwise print quality is off.

          • @superforever: You heard wrong. I have one, they are inkjet

          • @superforever: It's not a laser printer. It's just not a "traditional" inkjet but it's still an inkjet.
You may want to read the product description:

            Printer Type Inkjet
            Item Type Name: Inkjet Printer
No one is disputing that due to the tank system it's cheaper and easier to refill.

Worst printer I’ve ever owned. If you’re primarily Apple forget it. You have to print using their app and it’s horrendous. Half the time if you print from Mac it in Unicode. Scanner is subpar, only prints single sided. It’s just so bad.

Saw a lot of comments like that about Apple, not a problem for me, also don't care about scanner or double sided.

Not worst printer, worst Apple :-)

I don’t understand this comment. I print from both a MacBook and iPad with no software installed.
Unicode is the encoding scheme for 8 or 16bit fonts, it will always be printing unicode unless you are printing from an Apple II.

      • +2

If you want to print from iPhone, iPad etc there is no airprint protocol, you can’t print directly to the printer, you have to use the their app which is a bad experience. We constantly get prints from our Mac the turn out as just Unicode text and have to constantly restart the printer to get it to work. Buy it if you won’t, but massively regret it (that’s on me though) just sharing the experience if your an Apple user I highly recommend getting one with airprint protocol.

        • Apologies, you are correct, this model does not support airprint. Mine is the older model.
          Dumb move by Epson.

          • +1

@mskeggs: Sadly their specs are a little misleading with the print from Phone etc. I just assumed it had AirPrint. So that’s on me.

        • I never realised people would just buy a printer without a PC as you can just print stuff direct from your phone, makes sense though. Even if you have a PC it's probably easier to just print directly from your phone a lot of the time. I guess I'm an old man now, I am still picturing the printer linked to the PC with a com port type cable and printing from ribbon.

Had one for years, easily the best printer I've used.

    et2850 double sided

    • get JB to price match and use the perks to save another $30

  • Worst printer ever. Spent more time cleaning heads than printing pages. Unsure if it was just the printer (as in a lemon) or if all of them are garbage. The "ink pad" also filled up and refused to print any more. Tried to seek to have Epson Seiko provide support and they told me to go jump. Never purchase another one of their products again.

I bought one of these back in 2017, can’t remember model but it was $300 odd. Not worth it imo. I’ve never had to buy replacement ink- despite printing thousands of pages from it- that’s basically the only plus. It’s slow to print, print heads get clogged all the time (I can’t print colour anymore), doesn’t do double sided, slow to scan and it’s a pain in the ass to connect to computers/wifi.

    • Colour head nossles are obviously clogged. Have you ever tried the power cleaning feature?. It's designed for this exact situation when a head nossle is clogged.

Well my ET-4800 model has that feature. Yours probably does too. It does an advanced print head cleaning more than the normal head cleaning feature does. It's worth a try if it might unclog those print head nossles. Any how it's what you should have tried to begin with.

  • Weird. This review popped up in my google feed. Looks like a big brother to this one posted (ET8550 and ET8500) and the guy raves about them - 3 to 5 x the price posted here though: https://www.digitalcameraworld.com/tech/printers/printers-ar…

  • How does this compare against the Hp Smart tank 7305 for $299 from yesterday?
