Does anyone know if they'll have anymore Japan sales for Nov?

    • +5

Their fares for the flights overseas have become really expensive. You can get much better prices from the foreign full service airlines.

    • they just advertised for a release coming up. not sure about Nov but check the website tomorrow

How many flights into break even?

    • +3

      1

    • +11

Really depends on a lot of factors. You can even break even on the 1st flight.

    • +1

For the average person i would guess around 3..

      • -1

1 person per 1 flight ? How about 5+1 in the oven people per 1 flight. Would it break even?

        • +2

Yeah i would say so, although before you purchase the pass you can see the price of both normal & club price for everything (Seat selection, luggage etc)
I added it up on a flight to Thailand for 2 people return and was not worth it.

  • +11

Does it make it easier when they cancel their flights - my use-case.

    • +4

Is it a statement or a question

    • Usually they try to move on to other flights, or even to Qantas.. I had that done.

  • Dang, just joined yesterday to buy flights….

    • +2

same bro, rejoined yesterday to buy flights….sigh

I have a flight later this week booked bummer.. I should have researched benefits previously. I am guessing no benefits if you already have a flight booked.

    • That's right. Benefits only apply at the time of booking.

I joined Club Jetstar using a New Zealand link a couple of months ago and it was cheaper than using the AU site. Weird but it worked and I've flown domestically in AU using discounted fares. Might be worth checking that if you can find it.

  • +2

There's been very few Club Jetstar sales lately compared to previous years. Not sure why.

    • +9

Jetstar and Qantas have been ripping people off and they're still comming back. Profit is up and up, there's no need for them to discount.

    • +4

This phenomenon is known as enshitificarion.

      • +2

        And monopolisation.

        • Not necessarily. For example, Uber Eats is not a monopoly, But the value proposition is highly questionable today with Uber One, and non-existent without it.

  • Can the member book for other family members without the member traveling?

    • +6

No. Member must be travelling in order to avail of the discounted rates.

      • damn, i thought u can buy it for family member

  • +2

I have been a member for 3 years, never been able to take advantage. Other sites have provided a decent pricing than club prices. Plus the club benefits are only applicable if you book via jetstar. Finally cancelled it and not joining back.

    • ever try pricebeat ?

      • I pricebeat a Jetstar flight from a third party booking site. Can I pricebeat AND get even more off if I join this club?

      • I have tried pricebeating with other providers and haven't been successfull, they've said flight prices are different and always changing therefore cannot be price matched.

        • Works for me but I had to argue my case with the web chat agent. Probably wasn't worth the time and effort for the small saving but they need to honour their guarantee.

    • +2

OK, that counts me out as I book through Qantas mostly to redeem points

  • +6

I tried the ‘Club’ several years back. They didn’t send me a single deal for the whole 12 months - and yes, I did regularly check my junk mail. Should have given the money to charity instead.

  • Really they need to give more to make this interesting than 'maybe we will have a sale that may work for you', eg a fixed $10 off per flight as well as the sales.

  • Is the $50 off a $150 hotel voucher good at offsetting this?

    • +2

Presumably it's the same as Qantas hotels in which case I don't think so, usually more expensive than other booking sites and a much worse UX.

      • The one place at Blue Mountains I booked in August is cheaper than comparison websites with the $50 voucher.

  • +3

These clubs should be free for people who fly a certain amount of legs, you shouldn’t have to pay for loyalty it should be the other way around

    • Tell that to Amazon/Costco/gyms etcetera.

  • +1

Enjoy the delayed & cancelled flights

    • -1

Enjoy them on the airlines you fly.

  • +8

Going to have to do better than that, I’d pay $52 more per flight to not fly Jetstar.

  • Auto renew. Yeah nah I'm good.

  • Can I sell the $50 hotel voucher somehow? Is it even worth anything?

  • I pay to not fly jetstar.

  • Seems like creative accounting to me. I renewed in March (well actually they helped themselves to my credit card which I had to call and get back even though they state no refunds) for $55. This deal is not really a deal.

    • -1

Its $52 to JOIN instead of $65, renewal is not this deal.

I have been a member for over 10 years. I would think that I have saved over $6,000 minimum. One Thailand flight for 4 saved me over $1600. I fly overseas about 3 times a year and every booking has been via Club Jetstar special deals and most flights have cost approx $300-$400 return vs approx $800-$1100 return. Flights have been Sydney to Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia. Always save on luggage and seats. Great service for a small yearly cost.

    • -1

Best savings is not to buy luggage, just travel light with a carry-on, especially if you fly to warm countries. If you're afraid of the 7 kg weight limit, drop your heavy/bulky items on the couch/chair (whilst someone, who you know is there there preferably) and get your carry-on measured at check-in. I did Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Bali with this method and never paid over 400 bucks for return flights.
