Surprisingly RunRepeat rate these 80+. Are they actually OK for running?

    • I dont rate them

    • Fine for walking and casual, not much good for running. Maybe ok for a lighter person on short runs.

    • I wouldn't spend less than $100 if you actually intend to run in them.

      • +2

… pay more to get more …

        No wonder there is inflation.

      • +5

Wow gatekeeping a basic human activity with minimum spend $100. Peak capitalism.

Buy a cheap pair of shoes and run. We've been doing it for hundreds of thousands of years with very primitive protection for our feet.

Or be a gearhead like this guy and only run in shiny expensive shoes.

        • Or be a gearhead like this guy and only run in shiny expensive shoes.

I'm not sure how you consider me to be a 'gearhead' for spending >$100 on shoes.

Also, I've personally injured myself running in shoes very similar to these. They're rubbish and are this price for a reason - poor quality materials and design.

Shall we save even more and buy these for $12?

          • @topherboi:

Also, I've personally injured myself running in shoes very similar to these.

Not the fault of the shoes.

They're rubbish and are this price for a reason - poor quality materials and design.

I agree the material quality won't be as good and maybe they won't last as long. But to suggest you need to spend X if you want to run is absurd.

Instead I'd say if you actually want a shoe that's comfortable to run in, go to an actual store and try them on and be sure of the purchase yourself. Online shopping for shoes is a complete gamble in terms of fit and comfort. Who knows, maybe the kmart shoes are the best fit for a particular shape of foot and budget for the buyer.

              @eddyah:

Not the fault of the shoes.

The only person that would know that is me.

But to suggest you need to spend X if you want to run is absurd.

No one needs to do anything, but I'm sharing my opinion and experience with cheap running shoes.

  • +5

These look good but waiting on ones that are more black.

    • +3

I'd have thought these were as black as they get haha

      • none more black

      • +2

In Melbourne we have 500 plus words for all the shades of Black

    • +14

just turn off the lights bro

    • +3

Just close your eyes when you wear them.

  • +1

is it good for wide feet?

  • +11

Thanks OP. Finally got an ozb running shoe that doesn’t scream bargain colour way.

  • cheers, copped black pair $38 and white pair $45

  • -1

I bought similar Adidas Galaxy shoes from a previous offer for $15 delivered. They are good wearing casual but not for serious runners. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/902723

    • +2

Galaxy's are much nicer looking pair of shoes imo

  • +2

    Perf for travel/ plane shoes.

    • +5

I think you meant plain shoes.

      • Not Performance shoes for their high intensity travel/plane rides?

    • Don't think the soles on these are rated for urine.

  • Got a pair for my ailing toes. 😭

  • +2

These are about all they're worth. Very average pair of shoes.

    • +4

You can't expect much from $40 pair of shoes.

      • -2

wait, isn't $40 the bargain price and they're supposed to be worth more than that?

If you're simply saying you can't expect much from $40 pair of shoes then why is this a deal to begin with lol

Either your response is stupid or 244 are stupid for upvoting this deal…

        • -2

A bit too much, sure it's a bargain but you can't expect it to compare to $2 or 3 hundred dollar shoes.

You need to find a hobby.

  • cheers ordered

  • +1

My wife just did Runmelbourne last weekend and the vibes over there got me to start running. I never wear a running shoe. I do some casual running in my gym with normal shoes(puma).

Is this one good to start with?

    Thanks

    • +5

absolutely not unless you want to injure your knees and the soles of your feet. If you want to pick up running, invest in some good ASICS or New balances 880s/860s

      • I'm new to running too. What separates a 'bargain' pair of runners like these vs. the more serious runners you listed?

        • +5

Materials of upper, materials of the foam, leading to road feel, better cushion for different distances. Comfort. Longevity. Leading to more enjoyable run that tire you less, less soreness, less injury.

Think of cost of a trip to the physio. It pays to just buy a better shoe.

        • +2

I had a few friends starting out running who only bought the entry-level shoes, while it worked for them, they really suffered from sore knees, calves and tension on the balls of the feet. When you purchase a purpose-built running shoe you really feel it - the feeling of stepping on clouds, how much propulsion and 'boost' you get from every step, your joints are supported, ankles feel more secure in the shoe, the insides of your shoe don't heat up as quickly so don't sweat as much - just overall a much more enjoyable and SAFER experience.

Running is already such a high-impact choice of exercise, that I think investing in decent shoes is worth the protection of your body.

If you want to save money, I bought my running shoes from outlets because they typically stock the older/discontinued model of a current running shoe i.e 2023 model of a good shoe is at least $100 cheaper than the current model. So I bought an ASICS kayano 28 when we're already on the 31 version. Still a great running shoe, just not the updated model.

          • +1

            @tea3tea: 100%

I appreciate lots of people saying this an a bargain. But it's all relative. If you value it as just a casual shoe yes. But don't kid yourself thinking it can replace an Adizero range shoe.

Use the best tool you can for the job. A blunt tool will only end up costing you more energy or worse…injury. Then you pay to go-to physio or podiatrist…and not enjoy running. Therefore I wouldn't recommend this as a beginner shoe, which is a q many have asked here.

      • Can confirm NB 880 are an excellent shoe. You can find them on sale for $100+ sometimes.

    • +3

If you're doing more regular running it's better to go to a specialist running store and get something fit for your gait and size.
Won't be $40 shoes but there are still good deals to be had on previous years models.

      • +1

Don't buy in stores like Rebel, Hype DC, Footlocker or smaller shoe shops tho! Just get the size and order online. I would not even trust the model recommendations in shop as the sales puppets are encouraged to sell only what they have. Many times I get recommended models that I know doesn't suit me.

I would recommend bumping up budget to $80 and going for models like NB Propel, Asics Gel Cumulus, Puma Velocity 3. These models are under $100. Adidas camp…entry level I would suggest Adizero SL2

        • The pumas are for a very narrow foot.

          • @Kustard King: Yeah. Designed by Germans for PanEuropeans whom tends to have narrow feet shape. Same with some Adidas models too.

Go-to Rebel and try them on before 'oh I didn't bring money, I will come back and buy but just want to try it on today'. And order whatever model and brand online.

    • +6

these are fine to start out.

      • -2

        Please don't.

        • +1

          Dont what?

          • @Hayesy22: Don't waste money getting this for running. But opinions vary.

      • I think they're just good for casual walking and catching up with friends while dressed in athleisure. Nothing more.

    • +1

You'll be more injury prone. As someone who's tried the cheap runners - there's plenty of ozbargain deals for older lines of runners you'd actually want to run in. Will make running a lot easier and won't injure yourself.

At the sub $100 mark - Nike Pegasus/Puma Nitrospeed seen recent bargains on or if you're lucky a pair of ASICS.

But if you're really looking to run more, pay up a little bit more and you'll have a much better time.

  • -1

Great deal, grabbed a pair. Thanks!

  • +1

Are the inner arch on these a bit raised? I remember some Adidas ones were and it felt uncomfortable trying it on.

    • Would like to know this too ?

    • +1

I use Vionics arch support in Adidas shoes, i started with Vionic runners but they are really stiff and hard under the sole, switched to the insert supports instead, has a fairly high arch but goes well. Can order them online, they have a warehouse in NSW from memory.

      • Can I confirm that you use the vionics inserts to take a generally flat shoe and give it a higher arch? This is what I need but I struggle finding different inserts that don't cost the price of a new shoe

        • +1

yes exactly, but tend to have a firmer/higher shape than the inserts you can buy from the pharmacy

          • @Gwilli: Do they ever squeak when you walk?

            • +1

@Jackson: Not those ones, i have had others that did but Talcum usually fixed it.

        • +1

Received mine, dead flat, very wide shape which is good as my foot is wide.
Removed original inserts and fitted Vionic inserts and they have good support.

      • No, these are completely flat actually

  • thanks

  • Ordered one pair
    Thank you!

  • Bugger, I order my Fitville 2 days ago https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0C7CQNXZJ

  • are these good for walking?

    • +1

Perhaps read some of the above comments?

  • +2

Thanks OP, grabbed a pair for when I have to go into the office. I refuse to wear uncomfortable leather shoes anymore when going into the office and black sneakers are fine with the suit.

    • +5

      Correct….fine with an Adidas tracksuit

      • Or the Squid Games green tracksuit. In the office.

  • The CM on the size guide. Does that relate to your foot measurement or is that a shoe measurement?

    • +5

Shoe size measurements in centimetres (cm) are based on the length of your foot, measured from the heel to the tip of your longest toe. Here’s how the measurement is typically taken and used:

Place your foot on a flat surface (like a piece of paper) while standing, as your foot expands under weight.

Mark the tip of your longest toe and the back of your heel on the paper.

Measure the straight line distance between these two points using a ruler or tape measure. This gives you your foot length in centimetres.

      • Adidas and Pumas….highly recommend finding a retailer with the model and try it on in person. Typically I have to buy a size that adds extra 0.5 to 1cm larger.

  • Do these size the same as NMDs/Ultraboost?

  • My number one issue with shoes is the heel and these are rated fairly poorly. Shame, might have been good for the office.

    https://runrepeat.com/adidas-runfalcon-3#heel-padding-durabi…

  • Thanks OP. Ordered one pair

  • Would these be good for work shoes?
Work in a hospital, need anti slip soles and comfortable shoes as I’m on my feet all day. Currently wearing sketchers but they’re too expensive

    • +2

I don't think so they are anti slip. considering you are on your feet all day, spend little bit extra and buy proper ones

    • +2

i have white versions i use for walking as i have wide feet and these seem ok for my feet, they are not anti-slip so definitely give these a pass for that use case. I've picked these up as well as it's good enough for me going on walks.

  • But…Falcons don't even run.

    • Combine with Red Bull to give you wings.

  • Thanks OP bought one for high school kid

  • Just bought a pair. Is it good for casual tennis sessions?

    • +13

Yes, these are good for anything casual and even short runs (2-5km). People in the comments above putting the shoe down for not being able to handle full marathons are annoying.

      • +1

        Thanks for the input!

      • +1

who the hell is using $30-$40 shoes for running full marathons…

        • +1

Many, you would be surprised. Not everyone buys/uses full professional gear to run a casual marathon a year.

        • +1

Welcome to 2025. Where it's cool to run a Marathon with no training, no thought paid to gear or nutrition.

They are hardcore! Runners. They train on the treadmill, wear Lululemon gear with either Hokas or cheap casual shoes but top of the line Garmin /Apple Watch ultra watch.

    • +2

I don't recommend runners for tennis, if tou are at all competitive (even with your mates) all the change of direction will rip the soles off prematurely. Get a tennis shoe and it will last a lot longer and save you money

    • Do these have removable insoles? Thanks!

      • No, insoles are non removable.

    • I've worn my runfalc for tennis, it's alright. Just no ankle protection for jerky movements on court and the soles will wear super quickly. I've since bought some cheap court shoes just to protect my feet.

  • -1

Cloudfoam cushioning is on cheap budget shoes. They re not designed to last for runs. Go with the Ultra Boost.

  • WSJUL15 coupon is not working for me

  • Bought the last 2 iterations of this ozbargainer Adidas. Not a great runner by any means.

    • Adizero SL2 is the entry level IMO. Not Duramo SL2.

Can be had for about $100 on discount.

  • +3

I bought as an impulse buy due to price and brand name.. never again.. Rubbish shoes made with cheapest material you could ever imagine. I should have known when you pay $35 for Adidas, you pay $30 for brand name and $5 for the actual shoes.

      • insert hide the pain harold meme guy *
    • when you pay $35 for Adidas, you pay $30 for brand name and $5 for the actual shoes

So better off buying kmart anko etc instead in that case then?

      • -1

As a matter of fact, I'm currently wearing an anko pair, to which I paid $25 and couldn't have been happier with the investment. My $35 Adidas is now mainly used for gardening activities lol.
