is it better than halo ?
I bought this for my mother a few days ago (at $143) and I tried it on, I bought the halo with hood for myself. It seems similar and feels nice and warm. But this one has hand covers (goes up the palm and your thumb has its own loop). Would recommend for this price!
I was wondering the same thing since they are both advertised as: 600 fill 80/20 duck down.
I know these RRPs are just for show to make you think you are always getting a bargain, but one is supposedly $480 and the other is $299 - that's quite a big difference in price.
Pity this one is such an obnoxious colour - but that's probably why they have ended up discounting it more.

@V2L: Well, in name you are correct, but if the insulation is the same then it's double the price for a few extra inches length.
However, the hooded, thigh length Uber Light is described as a coat. That has superior insulation: 650 loft 90/10 duck down fill, yet also has a much lower RRP of $299.
So what makes the Aurora worth $180 more?
From what I can see: a zip on the internal pocket,
Internal draft flap (as opposed to a elasticated hem for the same function),
and fleece lined cuffs with thumb loops.
Oh and a two-way zip.
Versus superior quality and quantity fill in the Uber.
Of course, if you are slim enough and care for the colour, $100 on clearance is a better price than $149 regular price.
@sam buster: The Uber Light has half the fill weight, only 100g for a thigh length jacket. vs 230 for the Aurora.
These jackets are not designed for high activity, more for standing around or slowly walking a dog. So I imagine the lighter one would be very ineffective in cold weather. And likely fragile.
For jackets like this, I would also guess that the RRPs are pure marketing exercises anyway and not a reflection of any underlying performance.

Yeah I agree the RRPs are essentially irrelevant, but I would expect some logic in the price hierarchy - I think you've nailed it.
RRP seems higher than halo.
I wouldn’t call this superior to the original trilogy or Reach, DEFINITELY beats Halo 5 however.

Always thought these longer jackets look terrible.
I think they're supposed to keep your arse warm when you're standing around sipping your cappuccino watching your kids play sports. They look fine for that.
