The fibre supplement has done its job.

  • anything that isn't the orange flavour tastes meh

    • I agree re: the berry flavour. Have you tried the Lime?

      • +1

I have - I think the orange one works because I like pulpy orange juice and this 10% reminds me of that - whereas in the others it just tastes unnatural.

        Haven't tried the berry though.

        • +1

mixed the flavours to create a fruity smoothie.

      • +1

Oh God… THE BERRY!! I can't stomach it and I have an almost full container sitting here. Wasn't game to try any others myself after that.

Anyone concerned with the artificial flavor and sweeteners. don't be. The only issue with Metamucil (psyllium husk) is its got some lead in it.. even the organic brands have lead.. just less so. This plant likes to suck up the metal form the ground.

    • +1

Yes, it is known to contain lead, but eating one serve of fish contains over ten times as much lead than a single serve of Metamucil.

Also, psyllium is reported to assist with lead absorption and excretion.

Everything is bad for you. Not having anything is worse for you.

  • the orange one gives me absolutely mental indigestion. never tried this one but worth a shot at $10

    Psyllium husk is always cheaper

    • +1

this is cheaper per gram compared to woollies

    • where to easily buy Psyllium husk from?

    • Does it dissolve in liquids ?

Like could I add a teaspoon to a coffee ?

      • +1

You have to dissolve it in water and shake it like a red headed step child and drink it fast.

It turns into glug very easy and you don't want to eat that as it can cause a blockage in your intestines.

So you could put it in a coffee but you need to be able to shake and drink fast.

there are also gummies available from big w for $15

    https://www.bigw.com.au/product/metamucil-fibre-gummies-72-p…

    • About 20c per chew. Not sure how it compares to this powder in terms of amount.

Edit: No stock anywhere near me.

      • +2

Answer: terribly. Gummies are useless and don’t even contain psyllium. It uses chicory root and soluble corn fibre.

I see. Thanks for technical knowledge I learn today.

I wish they modernised their branding. It just feels so 'old-people only'.
