Insane deals for Japan and South Korea in 2026.

Currently Club Jetstar early sale, but going to public from tomorrow, I believe.

Lowest I can find is from Cairns to Narita for $216.08 (ex. luggage) eg. 8th-15th May 2026.

Makes that 7-Eleven sando and Famichiki even more affordable.

    • what dates?

    • Extra legroom?

      • Extra legroom?

Some seats have more room in front of them, typically it's seats with a wall in front of them, or seats beside an emergency exit door.

Because these seats have more leg room, the airline charges a premium to passengers selecting those seats.

        • So how much extra did you pay for the legroom, seeing you say the ticket was $465 total return? (Well $400 as $65 was club membership)

          • @PVA: Since I paid $65 for club membership the extra leg room charge of $55ew was reduced by 20%. So that would $88.

Here is the breakdown but I can’t be stuffed formatting it.

  • Anyone know of any good places in Melbourne/websites to get conbini items? The Lawson’s shaving kit is really good and their unbrellas are nice and large as well (and cheap)

    • Fly there with this deal and stock up!

I just came back 2 months ago for the 2nd time 😅 have to go to america first then maybe Japan again 😂

How do they time it, my membership expired yesterday, I was waiting for a promo like this for a year.

    • +3

      Booked BNE-ICN 16 - 27 Jun $922.33 for a family of 4.

  • +12

So, I woke up this morning with no real plans on traveling to Japan, however now myself and the family are going in May…. I might need to stop going onto this site???

    • +3

Yeah I'd never go to Japan, it's just not my thing at all, but apparently now I actually am going for some reason..

  • Is Club membership required for every passenger or only for the person booking?

    • +3

      only for the person booking

  • +1

Tried a few options for a family of 5, but the challenge is from Per to Bris/Cairns is expensive.

End cost flying Singapore Air ends up being cheaper than Jetstar and only marginally more expensive than scoot.

  • how much if we added bags?? Pretty sure people buy a lot of things to bring back

  • +2

Back to Japan i go. Though decided to split it this time. Bne to Osaka then back from Tokyo. The price difference booking separate is about the cost of having to return to osaka via bullet train.

  • Earlier this year we were in Japan thanks to fly-back-for-free from Jetstar we booked last year.
Just saw this deal and we booked for Seoul - 2 people return, luggage, extra legroom, meals for $930 from Sydney.
Now only need to get tickets to fly Adelaide to Sydney return. Still, crazy good price :)

  • Cheapest tiks from Cairns and Melbourne to Tokyo /Osaka is gone ..

  • +1

    Booked Seoul for May
$710 return for two with extra luggage and Jetstar club. Crazy price

    • -2

Most people here are talking about Japan.

The price for Korea does sound cheap. Just not sure there is much to do in South Korea like there is in Japan…

      • +1

Wondering that too, but we've already done Tokyo and Osaka-Kyoto on Jetstar deals the last couple of years… Here's what ChatGPT suggested for us:

Don't rely solely on chatgpt… 14 days in korea is crazy we went to Seoul for 5 days and thought that was enough, I can't imagine busan will fill up the other 9 days. For example DDP plaza is just a building you're not going to spend the whole morning there, I didn't go to coex aquarium but starfield library is just a photo spot it's not a whole day activity.

        • +3

I did 10 days in South Korea, spread across Seoul, Busan and Gyeongju. Loved it! If I had 14 days, I would have included Jeju Island as well.

      • +1

Yeah, you can find plenty to do between seoul and busan easy enoigh, with addding day trips out to see places and maybe even jeju island when down in busan.

        • +1

Having been to Japan, this all sounded like more of the same, tbh. We were pretty reluctant, but couldn't let it pass. Gave it a week, though, not two, +2 days of travel (for $241 RT fr BNE each!).

      • +1

I recommend getting the Seoul Pass and Busan Pass, pay a set amount for a number of hours then you can go to as many attractions as you want (choose from a list that keeps changing), also has discount offers. On the first day start early before noon. On the last day go to an area with several attractions that are close together, buy all the tickets to the attractions first before time is up, then you pretty much get an extra day/afternoon to enjoy attractions at your own pace. Or more simply, go to the attraction that you're likely to spend the most time at (e.g. Lotte World) as the last stop.

  • Any way to get a flight into Osaka and then out of Tokyo back to Syd? Can get the cheap flight over but cant seem to find one for a cheap flight back.

    • +1

Just booked the cheap flights to osaka and wearing the extra cost to fly back from tokyo ourselves. If you were planning to do the usual osaka-> kyoto->tokyo trip the cost/time to get back to osaka again works out fairly similar to just flying back from tokyo. From memory it is about $150-200 to travel via shinkasen between the cities. Maybe about $100 to fly when you add baggage. So it wasnt much more to just fly back from tokyo for me.

      • +1

We will be flying to Osaka from Sydney in November with JQ.

On the way back, we will fly with QF from Haneda, Tokyo to Sydney.

20 kg checked in luggage with JQ and 30 kg checked in luggage with QF.

        • Was the qantas flight very expenisve? I just got back from Japan start of the month. The more luggage space you can get the better. I ended up having to pay$140 for an extra 15 kilos on Jetstar.

      • +1

I just got back from Japan at the start of this month on the Jetstar return for free sale from earlier this year. Having done it now i agree that its much better to fly into one city then out of the other because you end up spending more than half your day trekking back to Osaka from Tokyo to then catch the 9pm flight back to Aus. $150 for the shinkansen so yeah definitely worth factoring into your travel plans when booking.

  • Geez, so many cheap flights lately! I ended up going to Japan twice last year. Would love to go back to the Kansai region again around May.

    • Tohoku and Kyushu would be amazing as well.

  • +2

$388 to Osaka return is crazy stuff! Had to pull the trigger!

    • Paid $285 RT out of BNE last year. THAT was crazy!

      • Was that the return free deal? How long did you go for? Finding the shorter trips are cheaper on jetstar but it's not worth only going for two weeks in my opinion. Not long enough.

        • We went for 2 weeks, and actually found it too long. I just booked Seoul for just a week (+2 day transit). Depends on your situation, I guess; we're a family, and can't take months away from work and school. Either way, by the end of it we had had enough of living off our suitcases. We're not backpacking age anymore.

  • paid 1070 SYD-SEOUL return for 4 in June 2026

    • Are you sure? Cheapest I see is $170 there and $126.88 back = $296 each.

  • Just check the price for Business Class to Japan in Feb 25, absolutely not attractive at all.
3.5H domestic leg in EY + 4H transit but only 20% cheaper than CX PEY.
    Nah thanks.

  • Good deal but bad for Japan. Would prefer $1000 each way to stop the Bali Bogan horde, but alas.

    • Bali flights are now $1K+ return!

  • +1

    From $130 but never $130.

    • There was $130 flights yesterday in the presale just have to be quick and ready to book. I was umming and ahhing between dates and missed out:(

      • That's a shame I was looking at going for that price. Can't find much that cheap on an initial search.

        • I paid $241 BNE→ICN RT. Cheaper than going to Melbourne!

          • @wisdomtooth: Only works if you're in those states. I'm not sadly.

  • +1

Seems most of the direct routes from Sydney to Osaka (for May-Jun'26) are gone. Don't know if I will regret not jumping since I'm going there this year-end anyway.

  • +3

Booked BNE-ICN for $965 with 1 checked luggage for family of 4 in June 2026.

    • Epic deal. Did you do any entertainment or seat selection?

      • +1

no, i didn't select any entertainment or seat selection.
We will just download some movies off Disney+/Netflix to watch on the plane. I may choose seat selection before check in.

        • +1

No point paying for seats if you're taking children; they can't separate them from you anyway. And, yeah, pre-download all movies.

          But I beat you; $241pp RT BNE→ICN (May/June) 😃

    • Certainly worthy for a upvote

  • Osako for $220 what a steal. Too bad I don't live in Cairns tho, but that's where the Amex free return flight will come in handy

  • Other states lose out on this deal:
Found dates Cairns to Osaka ≈ $300 for 3½ weeks
+ roughly $400 from SA to Cairns, return
So with baggage and meals around $800
Only the east coast gets a good deal

  • Managed to get return fare syd-seoul end of June 297AUD not bad IMHO, one person , with hand luggage only ,
    Cheaper than return Wagga-Sydney, THIEFS
    Peace
    DT

    • +1

      Interstate travel price is insane.

      • Paid 270 with Rex from Mel-wag ,one way
        Robbery

        • +1

It absolutely is. I don't bother travelling inside the country, screw this economy. When you can travel for less to another country why prop up an overpriced tourism sector here? Just does not make sense.

          • @AUBRX: Australian government chargers $70 per person as a departure charge as a tax whenever any body over 12 leaves the country.

  • Is the site down? keeps getting http protocol error…

    • I could not use PayPal/chrome ,but it worked through Edge

  • Im not seeing any cheap flights out of Melbourne… did the cheap tickets sell out? :(

    • Most likely. There were heaps of cheap tickets for Sydney to Seoul this morning. They are all gone now.

      • I was trying to look for some from Melbourne as well but I couldn't find any. Thought I just wasn't using the site correctly.

    • By the evening of the club sale, it was nearly sold out. I was trying to fly a week earlier, but the return flight was already expensive, so I had to push it back by a week.

      • These companies really do have a good racket with all this subscription based "club" rubbish. They're loving this. I wonder how many people pay this membership and don't use it.

  • whats the best melbourne to japan retur people can find? im stuck on my phone wnd its playing up :(

  • +1

Im in Adelaide. Booked the following for 7th to 28th April 2026 over the SA school holidays for family of 4:

    • Return flights from Adelaide to Cairns - $1670. Spending a few days in Cairns before flight to Osaka.
    • Cairns to Osaka - $1140
    • Tokyo to Cairns - $1370

TOTAL $4180. Comparing if I did this all in one booking this was coming to about $4200, but this way I get to spent time in Cairns first and return from Tokyo.

Seems ok for school holidays. Thoughts?

    • I would personally fork out a little more for a more premium airline? Not too sure though.
