I was genuinely interested, but a little frustrated that every spice mix is based mainly on Salt, Sugar or both :(

Trust us when we say it is for balance! These are definitely on the lower scale of salt and sugar content than a lot of what you can get out there if that helps at all good sir 😬

      • Thank you for your response -
But even at WW and Coles you can find spice mixes that actually have NO sugar or salt added - just spice blends.
I do appreciate that salt and sugar in a diet is not a "horrible thing", especially when considering the lower quantities of it in spice mixes

But it would've been nice to have those 'down' the ingredient list for flavour support - or not at all.
There's way too much salt and sugar in our foods as is :(

Completely understand bud! We appreciate the feedback ☺️ ✌️

Partially agree with you about the sugar (even though that's traditional in some regions in USA BBQ) but the phrase, 'every spice mix is based mainly on salt' is a little ridiculous. It's a BBQ Rub, it has to contain a heavy amount of salt.

  • Grab a few of these, the seemed to glut up a bit and I also found they burnt so much easier than other brands. Shame as they weren’t too bad.

    • Sugar burns pretty easily

Only thing I use on steaks (high heat cooking) is salt

    • We don't like to add in anti-caking agents so with heat/ moisture they may clump up. A good shake and they come right back ✌️

    • And glad you liked the flavours! We haven't had an issue with the burning. If your doing some high temp pan cooking we suggest adding the rub towards the end of the cook ✌️

  • As a typical buyer, I checked Amazon and this is what I'd be comparing against https://amzn.asia/d/gDJOfWt - which looks comparable in terms of a rub for each type of meat.

    Your deal has 4x180g (720g) @ $33, making it $45.8/KG.

The Amazon item, with subscribe and save, is 953g @ $33.29, making it $34.93/KG.

That's completely fine good sir each to their own ☺️

Just note those rubs are not produced or packed in Australia, and cannot verify their quality.

The rubs you are referring to very well might be great, but they are also just mass produced. Which is just a different type of product.

Ours are all handmade right here in Australia from start to finish 😁

Small batch and big flavours is what we specialize in ✌️

  • Glass jars or plastic?

The child has become addicted to Lane’s Magic Dust, so I’m keen to see if I can find any local product that might appeal. Shame that the free shipping spend has increased. Reckon you would have got a few sales of 2 x 4 packs if the free shipping threshold was lowered to $66 so Ozbargainers could escape the surcharge…

Plastic jars buddy! Thanks for the suggestion ☺️ To be completely honest shipping prices are outrageously high and we had to make the calculated decision unfortunately!

Our kiddo is addicted to This Little Piggy and Chick a Dee 😀

    • Thanks for the response - fair enough. You’re lucky you’ve got a kid who you can tempt with white meat and anything less than $30/kg. My child is a judicious red meat addict…

It's amazing how they seem to gravitate towards the nicer things in life 🤣 better that than vegetarian right 🤣😬

We could tell they are plastic jars from their website. You would think for $55 they would be glass, but nay. Plastic.

    • At the price, I was expecting plastic, but if they were reusable glass, it would have been enough to get me over the line at $33 - otherwise shipping kills it for me. I know glass adds a lot to packaging and freight, so can’t blame them.

I’ll just keep buying masterfoods mid-sized seasoning and reuse their glass jars when decent bulk rub deals come up.
