Netflix Turkey Account Suddenly Got Restarted

My turkey Netflix account suddenly got deleted and I have to 'restart' my membership when I log back in again.

Has anyone experienced something like this???

I tried chatting with Netflix but seems like they are not available lately..

Anyone got the same issue and know how to fix this? I already prepaid using giftcard until next year!! :(

Comments in the other Netflix thread say that their accounts have been terminated too. The same thing happened to me a year or two ago. They cancelled my account whilst I was paid up and they offered no refund. I took this as a golden ticket to their content for free and I suggest you do the same.

The same thing happened to me a year or two ago.

so I usually don't bother with these posts.

but yeah I read about the deep discounts too, and read the comment history of people who did it on ozb. paid up a year and got cancelled/blocked way too early.

why do people risk it? idk. if you absolutely hard on money and had too, you are saving a tonne paying month by month anyway. why risk an entire year.

      • +1

I suppose because Turkish Netflix gift cards have stopped production so people thought Turkish Netflix in Australia was going to inevitably end because of the drying up of gift cards rather than account terminations.

        • Australia was going to inevitably end because of the drying up of gift cards rather than account terminations.

Yep, this was me and that was my thought process too…. I tossed a bit extra on my account the other day as I wanted to buy time for the next cheap country to get worked out.

I wasn't expecting Netflix to cancel the accounts after cutting off the gift card supply. Why bother doing both! Anyone without a local credit card was going to self expire with time, so you're just creating bad blood by doing a money grab.

If my account gets cut off early and I lose my money, I won't be going back, but I will be going back to torrents to get my Netflix content.

For us, we are not big netflix users, so the AU account plans are a rip off for what we use it.

          • @JimmyF:

If my account gets… I won't be going back

If you are ready for the switch then why even wait?

            • @fantombloo:

If you are ready for the switch then why even wait?

For the current price its meh, I'll keep it. But if Netflix closes my account and pockets ~12 months of access fees, then yes I'm done. Won't be going back again. Happy for them to close my account, but stealing money is a different thing.

              • @JimmyF: You violated their terms of service knowingly, of couse their going to keep your money.

LOL "THEY STOLE MY MONEY", bro grow up….

                • @0z8smakf:

You violated their terms of service knowingly, of couse their going to keep your money.

Maybe, my Turish based account, being paid with Turish gift cards meets the T&Cs. So as I'm 'travelling', I can use my account ;)

But maybe they shouldn't have crazy different pricing around the world. If it cost them $xyz a month to delivery Netflix then charge this, instead of trying to fleece people based on their country.

But as I said, Netflix is meh these days, it is not our go to product, but I only keep it on for the few rare shows I watch because the price is cheap enough to not bother with torrents. Until now.

LOL "THEY STOLE MY MONEY", bro grow up….

Sure, I'll grow up and won't use the service like a good adult. So hello torrents.

Now, what was a better outcome for Netflix? A paying customer on their books or no customer?

        • oh you had to pay with giftcards? didn't know that thought that was optional.

I thought I read a few comments saying they paid with card, and got cancelled.

whatever sinks your boat I guess. 😖

          • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm:

oh you had to pay with giftcards? didn't know that thought that was optional.

For Turkey it was either pay with a Turish credit card or gift cards.

Some got some credit cards up, but it was hit and miss. The easiest way was to load some gift cards in.

        • Where did you hear Turkish Netflix gift cards have stopped production? I bought one off turgame and redeemed without issue, Netflix account working as per normal

  • +13

Eh, I disagree with Netflix practices and the whole streaming greed services.

But this seems pretty reasonable at end of day. You are taking advantage and subverting their terms and conditions. So pretty reasonable for them to cancel. As to whether you're owed a refund is an interesting question though.

    • As to whether you're owed a refund

Only if you actually live in Turkey, as that is what you paid for…

  • Yes… in the same boat.

  • -1

Same here. worked until yesterday but not working today 9.30pm. also had credits. i guess it was good while it lasted… but not impressed that they terminated accounts with credit

    • Stealing? They paid for it.

      • -1

They paid for access from Turkey.

Did the T&Cs say you can get a refund if you change your mind and want to use it from Australia?

        • +47

How do you feel about Netflix not paying tax on income generated in Australia but shifting it to incur in a country where it costs them less?

This is the same; the consumer shifted the expense to a country where it costs them less.

But carry-on simping for a tax evading corporation.

          • @CommanderCrumbcake: Far enough justification, but you have to wear that if you get caught not following terms and conditions your account will be cancelled without refund.

To resolve the problem, we need to stop those that are paying full rates. Hunt them down and shame them. No AUD Netflix until they pay taxes.

          • +5

@CommanderCrumbcake: Well summed up. These billion dollar foreign companies with their massive tax avoidance must love the peasants defending them.

            • +3

@arcticmonkey: Exactly, their lies have worked on the uneducated commoner. Both the CEOs took a total of USD$60M+ home each last year. This is about 900x the income of the average worker. This is the ultimate scam and creation of wealth inequality where two people have stolen the lion's shares of the profits and taken home the pay of 2,000 workers every single year. Do not feel sorry for them or the company for a second, they don't take home that pay because the company is turning an honest profit (USD$18B in profit made off us in 2024), they are ripping you off. This is why Australia is so much better than America, we have unions keeping things in check so that the CEO only earns about 55x the income of the average worker, not 300x like America.

              • +1

@supersabroso: It's still getting out of control in Australia. The rich have bastardized the unions and convinced the uneducated that they don't need them.

          • +2

            @CommanderCrumbcake: That's brilliant context 👏

Head to Account -> Settings -> Blocked

Add jv to the Blocked Commenters section.

Stremio + RD, Youtube and Youtube Music + Revanced

    • RD?

      • Yes, just pop "Stremio + RD" into Google and take a read on Reddit to see what it is :)

        • -7

          Is it free?

          • +12

@tenpercent: Stremio is a legal streaming platform that is free to access/use, it's role is to combine paid streaming platforms that you've paid for together in one place. Real debrid is a server which caches/stores shows and movies from different sources around the internet. You pay ~$28AUD/6 months to access Real Debrid through the Stremio platform.

If you set it up correctly where Stremio only accesses Real Debrid sources, there is no need to pay for a VPN as you're not pirating anything yourself. It gives you access to pretty much any show found on Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, Paramount, Disney Plus, etc. And best of all, you can watch it all at absolute full quality 4K Blueray REMUX no DRM proprietary limitations bullcrap; that is if your processor and internet are up for the task.

            • @Bignudge:

If you set it up correctly where Stremio only accesses Real Debrid sources

"Don't show download to debrid links" is this the option to tick under debrid if we don't want to see any P2P to achieve what you are referring to?

              • @No ONE: On Stremio, I've added in the Torrentio RD addon, then chose "Real Debrid" as the provider, then added my API key, then ticked "Don't show download to debrid links" and "Don't show Debrid Catalogue".

When you go to Stremio to watch a show, as long as you're seeing/clicking on an "RD+" source you should be safe. Should be…..

Note: The Torrentio RD is not the sole addon you should have. I have Comet, MediaFusion, Jackettio, and a whole bunch more. Look on Reddit for a packge of addons you can install.

Also, Stremio runs great on a Firestick 4K…. don't use the stock TV operating system

                • @Bignudge: Works fine on stock TCL TV.

                • @Bignudge: I think it is safe to have it untick "Don't show Debrid Catalogue" as far as I researched. I have added DMM but it is annoying to use.

            • @Bignudge: Whats the best method of payment do you use?

    • Thanks for the tip- gotta look up Stremio + RD!

      • Real Debrid is not the only caching service available or the cheapest one. Take a look around but I've only ever used RD and have been happy with it

    • Ah, the only piracy that ozbargain mods approve of. Paid piracy.

    • so is it safe to add some more addons inside the stremio? or should we just leave to where it only accesses Real Debrid sources?

I don't see a lot of j/k-dramas list inside the Stremio so far, any recommended addons to add for the J/K-Drama Tv shows/movies?

  • Same thing happened to me

  • Same happened to me. Was working last night and this morning it just says welcome back and to sign up to local netflix.

  • They stopped mine as well on the 26 Jul
but received message saying I had till 25 Aug to re activate.
Neflix stopped on 26th , tried to access Turkey but account shows user name /password invalid.
    There goes a month's worth.

Thanks everyone. So it seems like a common case lately. Frickin Netflix, can't just takeaway our money like that, they should have converted our account back to the original country rather than just closing the account and running away with our money.

    • running away with our money

      It sounds like blatant theft.

    • All things must pass.
      Thoughts & prayers

    • +1

A bit rich to complain about your account getting shut down when you're clearly against their ToS. I've had mine closed too with a couple months left on it, but I know full well that it was always a risk and that it was probably gonna happen one day.

That said - this finally got me onto Stremio & RB. Took all of 10 minutes and now I have access to more shows than I can watch lol. I'll probably cancel my Apple TV+ subscription now too since all the shows I watch there are available via Stremio.

      • Can you use Stremio + RD on iOS devices now?

        • +1

Not streamio, but streamio plugins work on ios app "vidi" . I set it up apple tv seems to work for the 10 minutes i played around with it.

"Vidi" dev apparently abandoned development on it. ..

There is an in development app called "Fusion" that works with streamio addons. It is testflight app only at this stage ( link on fusion discord). Fusion has no inbuilt player (yet) so i did not like it. But for those that have paid for infuse and use trakt, it might be worth a look.

        • You can make it sorta work..

You go to web.stremio on safari and add it to home, it’ll look like an app/has its own icon.

And you can set it to play to external player like VLC, so everytime you choose to play something it’s plays on VLC.

I don’t love it but it works.

I don’t watch much on iPad/iPhone but the biggest issue I have is I don’t have a good way to get it working with Apple TV.

    • That's how you make USD$18B in pure profits in a single year, by ripping people off. However, when 300 million people are dumb enough to pay them hundreds of dollars every year then you can't blame them for taking their money.

  • same here - (profanity) i had two accounts both paid up till the end of october that i lost all the credit of - pretty shitty thing to do without any warning

  • Any other working method that people are going to have a crack at? Or just accept it and pay in local?

    • +1

      ☠️

    • +1

If you are going to pay local, then please LEAVE NOW!
yeah look into piracy. I tried stremio + RD and later tried Plex. I liked Plex more (it is free but you download what you want to watch yourself) so i bought myself a server and set it up. Couldn’t be happier that my wife doesn’t browse movies for hours anymore.
Also cancelled icloud and use the server for backups. Might be a bit costly in the beginning but i think will break even one day in the near future.

    • Any other working method that people are going to have a crack at? Or just accept it and pay in local?

      Torrents,

  • Something happened - thought may be because I ran out of credit, so logged in through vpn - bought Turkey Netflix GC, all seems good Account activated. When logged in from TV - "Your account cant be used in this location" Error Code E114
Lucky just topped up by 400LR

    Works with with VPN

whats the work around for tv

    • +1

This means you have to wait 30 days then it will work without VPN unless they do another crack down.

But will be hard with no more gift cards being sold in Turkey

    • +1

Just had the exact same experience tonight, but instead bought about $140 worth of Turkey gift cards and applied to account, as I assumed it was because my account balance had run out.

So for the next 30 days I am restricted to watching Netflix on my iPhone/iPad using a VPN to Turkey, and hopefully things will revert back to normal until next time. My biggest regret was laoding so much on as I thought it was coz my balance had run out.

  • same here……..

  • +1

Mine was terminated. Good while it lasted. Netflix is using psychological warfare to force us to pay local prices. They're trying to extract more money from us these greedy overpriced corporations.

Well I'm not paying anything. If we resist, they may eventually ease these restrictions. Till then they can f off. :)

Netflix content is terrible and I don't think it's worth more than $10 per month.

    • there is $7.99/m plan available w/ADS

      • w/ADS

        attention deficit syndrome? 😂

yeah I noticed they added "GAMES" something I never knew I needed on Netflix.

now I read in an article they will be trying a tiktok style infinite scroll UI (hidden in an update) soon.

    • Pretty sure it's capitalist principles being used, not psychological warfare. But if they offer a discount for hyperbole, you might be eligible.

  • Terminated here as well. Worked yesterday, nothing today.

  • Yep, our Turkey membership renewal got cancelled. Paid another $20 USD yesterday. Good while it lasted.

  • +1

Terminated for me too, does using VPN help if we are located in turkey?

    • Tried vpn. Didn't work for me

      • same, dead via Nord as well. Had heaps of credit left :(

        • Yeah, had 1000try but cannot see it anymore. Oh well. Good while it lasted. Wife and kids watch it lots so got the $18.99 plan. Even though got Plex and watchlistarr. They cannot wait 10 minutes for it to download lol.

  • same lost 2 months =$30 in aud credit

    • Was it stolen?

      • would have been terminated by a clause
