They used to give out product samples for free. Now they've convinced us to pay for them instead…

This cosmetic, and that perfume, and this soap…. And screw it throw in some Fruit Pastilles, why not?

  • Couldn’t find any stock on NSW. Shame - looks like great value and a great cause…

    • As per title of post, the box is exclusively being sold online only.

        Indeed you. Forgiveness please.

Even though it prompts you to select a store before confirming shipping, since its delivery only, it doesn’t matter if you inevitably have to choose a store with no stock.

        Thanks OP!

Only of value if you actually use products in there worth over $29.99, otherwise just a bunch of random things that you otherwise wouldn't buy.

    • +8

Not 29.99, it's 39.99 approx. You have to pay shipping as well

I usually love these boxes but FOUR lip balms! Come on chemist warehouse, nearly 20% of the box is lip balms. But ridiculous

It's a "liptember" box, it's usually lip care themed.

In my recent experiences with TCW, I have found that a few of the products that we purchased were close to expiry. We purchased a few packs of paracetamol, ibuprofen, etc. We generally put them in our medicine boxes, travel bags and caravan. As they were expiring within a few weeks they were not useful for us. They were full price at the time. When we brought them back to TCW store the same evening and they said, we can not replace as you have left our door few hours ago. I spoke to the pharmacist and the manager as well but of no avail.

It wasn’t a lot of money to argue for but it was the dodgy behaviour of the management.
A negative review and a complain email later, I got a call from the store owner that I can bring the medicine back for replacement.

Since then we check expiry on all the items we buy.

I will be checking the expiry on each item in the package before leaving the store.

Not medical advice but you generally can use paracetamol and ibuprofen past their expiry date although the potency may be reduced. Of course you shouldn't face that when buying new medicines. Something to consider if you don't get through your replacement supply before the expiry dates.

    • Yes. always check dates. I once forced them to accept a return because the expiry date was less than 6 months for a pharmacist medicine.

Can they actually say that box is valued at $160 when for example the Therabreath mouthwash is just a 88ml sample?? Sounds very dodgy.

the empy box itself is worth $50

I usually don't crap on charities because I know how hard it is to run one, but the financial statements of liptember are a little worrying. $1.8m came in, $400k on wages for 4 staff, $285k on grants and donations and $940k on other spending

The $940k on other spending includes $650k on research studies. Their research doesn't seem to provide a whole lot of value, each year they do a study showing that women are indeed suffering greatly from depression. They're also sitting on $1.2m of cash, which is a lot for such a small charity to have and not use.

If anyone can get value out of the box then go for it, but I'd be skeptical on buying it on the idea that it's doing a great thing for the world.

Not sure if you truly understand what it takes to run a charity but you do realise that the ACNC reports require a stock standard way of reporting financials, which sometimes skews the true reflection of the work that charities actually do. If you want to see what the Liptember Foundation have actually used those funds for - they've been super clear in their annual impact report, breaking down the same financials in a way that the general public can understand.

      From their website: https://raisely-images.imgix.net/liptember-foundation/upload…
      https://www.liptemberfoundation.org.au/impact-reports

The research investments include their own annual research as well as investments into longer term clinical academic research commitments.

  • Whan you see testers in CWH. The supplier provide these with labelling a reatil unit as tester and remove all packaging. This requires manual labour.
If the supplier provide few units as testers in original pack without a tester label, these pharmacies sell them not providing a tester to end customer.
This is from realife experience supplying to pharmacies.
For confidentiality reasons I am not getting into more details.
