Didn't know this was a thing lol. Any chance to milk money out of people

    • +6

That' milking people is ALSO a thing, in some countries.

    • +7

so you have to physically hold this to keep warm? lol just get gloves they are cheaper

    • -1

i feel like better to just have these in your bag - no charging required, ready to go whenever - but theres probably always at least one person who will complain about single use items. When I went to Japan during the winter, they had similar idea ones and were pretty neat to have during the early morning/ later nights.

      • +13

I have the OP product. Fantastic when you have to be outdoors in the cold.

I’ve also bought some of those single-use ones. I’ve never opened them lol

I have an issue with single-use stuff - I save them for a special occasion then….never do

        • +1

Single use is good for sticking to clothes, but when it comes to hands, the one-use handwarmers in plastic housing just doesn't feel the same.

      • -1

In circumstances where you're only going to use them a dozen or so times a year, and given the resources that go into making (and disposing of) a battery device like this then the iron powder ones are surely lower impact.

        • +2

Once you activate the disposable ones, they're used up, even if you don't really need them any more.

When I used public transport for daily commutes last winter, these were super handy to keep my hands nice and warm in my jacket pockets if there's a long wait, but I could also immediately turn them off on demand.

Fully charged, these lasted weeks of daily use before I had to recharge them again.

    • -8

Yep this is peak capitalist trash.

    • +11

If you have any old people in your life, ask them how unpleasant winter is on their hands, if these work well as the reviews suggest, they would likely love some.

      • +1

Yep, I bought a pair for my dad a couple of years ago. He loves them. I also have a set and gave another set to my kids. They're fantastic in the cold.

    • I dunno looks amazing

    • this is amazing for snow conditions or working on site in the morning.

    • Who wants cold hands milking them? This product sounds great.

    • They're amazing, honestly. I used to buy the single use thing, and they'd take longer to warm up, and you have no control.

Those things are amazing for the price, they have several heat settings, and they can be also used as a low profile power bank.

  • +15

Purchased these in July 2023 for $34.99, no regrets ever. Never ever went back to those single-use heat packs. These are absolute game changers.

    • Yes! I have heated gloves but will get some of these also.

These ARE GAME changers, especially when watching games outdoors in the cold.

      • +1

        I also have both.

Heated gloves when I know I won’t be using my hands a lot, otherwise I’ll carry the OP hand warmers in my jacket pockets - easy to do stuff then put hands in pockets for a quick warmup before carrying on

    • same here

  • +5

These are used by pro gamers so they work

    • -7

Pro gamers? So, by people who sit inside a warm house all the time? Must be amazing then!

      • +6

No actual pro gamers at events where they're playing in stadiums/arena's which pump aircon.

        • +4

I was laughing at this product but then I saw your post and now I can see musicians use these too before performing

        • Never seen progamers use anything but flexible sacks of warmth, these would be too rigid to get the fingers warmed up.

          • +5

            @ATangk: https://imgur.com/a/gi5006R

This is a current 1.25m USD prize pool counter strike tournament going on right now. They use them in every tournament and roll them between their hands inbetween rounds.

            • -6

@ClintonL: I guess it would be CS2 players who dont really need dexterity using rigid handwarmers. Really low APM requirements, and they're not even using them.

              • +3

@ATangk: I just got a a picture of them on the desks to show you. Here's a match from yesterday from the ongoing tournament where they use them. If you watched any CS you'd know it's a common item at every tournament and they're not just sitting there for no reason and they're not getting paid by anyone to use them.

                https://youtu.be/Ik-Gp3IIy6k?t=1599

And gaming isn't just about APM, not all games are RTS games. FPS requires aim/precision.

            • @ClintonL: advertising works

        • Ok. Didn’t know that existed. I have no idea why people would want to watch that in a stadium.
My nephew is a pro gamer and he just streams from home.

          • @choofa: It's getting pretty damn big, especially with counter strike. In Australia, ESL held two massive events in the past couple years, in 2023 they did IEM Sydney, and this year they did IEM Melbourne. I went to both, it was a great experience. It's just like watching live sports in a stadium. Hearing the crowd roar after a player does something incredible is really cool, also lots of funny moments, usually like 80% of the crowd gets extremely drunk - I think both the Rod Laver arena and ICC broke records for the amount of alcohol sold at the venue on the days of the event. The production quality is fantastic as well, like fire shoots from the stage when the bomb goes off in the game etc

    • xd

    • +1

If only they had these about these 20 years ago when I was a pro gamer.

Used to have like all stiff fingers/hands in the morning winters and wouldn't be able to perform properly until after 30mins of gaming.

  • +2

Having both this one and the one in flat shape, I prefer the flat one as they fit better in my hands, isn't too bulky and have a bit more heating surface.

    • Are the flat ones you like the round-ish ones, or the more square-ish ones?

  • +1

I have the same set/pair, and doubling as a powerbank too is nice.

    • Does it actually keep your hands warm?

      • +2

Yeah it does for me. Being in a first world problem modern built house with no insulation and working in the office is damn cold, nice to have something in one hand while moving a mouse …

  • +21

Whats wrong with Gloves? They keep your hands as warm as you want them depending on their thickness, you don't have to recharge them, and they're machine washable. Best of all, you don't have to keep your hands in your pockets and they technically leave your hands open for other activities, like joining an underground fight club, fighting homeless people for money and making a name for yourself as the greatest underground boxer the streets of Australia have seen. None of which would be possible if you buy these.

    • +1

      Hahaha ma man

    • +5

These are great for snow, even with gloves, hand don't warm fast enough. Good to warm hands with these and then use gloves to retain heat.

    • +4

You're probably not an old person or live in a cold house

    • +2

You could probs 3d print something up to turn these into knuckle dusters? Bruisers get cold as well.

    • +1

Gloves not practical when you are gaming. Some of these gamers are getting 20k per month. High stakes yo:)

      • +1

Surely if you can earn 20k per month you can afford clothes and a heater

        • +1

Duuuude. Of course these guys can afford those things. But the room has to stay cool but hands warm for peak performance.

Not only that, these guys are only 18 or less! Great salary but they do waste alot of it.

They play for 120 hours per week at their peak.

  • +16

Any Li-Ion battery is a hand warmer if you pierce them, albeit single use.

    • +7

The downside is that your hands also become single-use.

  • +2

Are they $13 better than the other Ocoopa ones I just received on the weekend?

    • +1

Specs suggest this one gets a little hotter at 145 degrees F vs 126 degrees F. The cheaper one also isn't advertised as being able to be used as a power bank. UTS2 also has double the battery size at 5000mahx2 compared to the UT3's 2500mahx2. I personally think that's $13 better but ymmv

  • +1

Do feet warmers exist like this? I tried a couple different heated socks they were DOA.

    • I have a mistral foot warmer. Check bunners. Much better.

      • Noice

    • +1

How are you planning to hold them?

    • I got usb heated insoles and attatch them to a battery bank with the cable running down both legs

  • +4

these are great but mine definitely don't last 8 hours on low, maybe 1.5 - 2 hours at most.

    • Maybe you got faulty units or knock-offs?

I've recently used a pair of these to help keep a baby eclectus parrot warm during the evening and overnight (until the infrared lamp I ordered could arrive), and they definitely lasted 8+ hours each on low.

      • +2

When my hands are cold enough to whip these bad boys out, it won't be on low settings.

      • it is quite possible that mine are faulty as the charge indicator never really shows thats getting flat. maybe after around 2 hours of total use it just dies and needs to be charged.

    • +1

Mine aren't the same brand, with 10000mAh, would last 3-4 hrs.
These are 5000mAh, 1.5-2 hours are very accurate IMO.

  • +3

Go the flat ones instead. These are awkward to hold. I have both.

  • Seems like something that's good in theory but in reality will blow all your fingers off your hand.

  • -2

mmm m surround me in electrons!

    • +11

What? You ARE made of electrons.

    • +2

      You anti-proton or something?

      • +1

        I’m just negatively charged today

        • +1

          Isn't that an electron?

          • +1

@Naigrabzo: No, just a dry dad joke.. trying to build up some static! :D

            • +1

              @jiminyjillikers: LMAO!

Why did the electron break up with static electricity?
Because it felt like the relationship had too much buildup and no current!

I had one of these years ago It was called a Nokia 630

  • +6

Real ozbargainers shove their hands down their trousers.

    • +5

Does it have to be their own trousers? Who can afford trousers in this economy?

    • +1

damn I need to find trouser deal on ozb soon

  • Get a small bean bag, microwave 2 mins.

    • +2

And for that, you need a microwave. The hand warmers will last for many hours on a single charge.

    • +10

      Any portable microwave deals?

  • does the 2 pack mean u get 2 x 10000mAh (ie 4 x 5000mAh) units or just the one set with 2 x 5000mAh units?

    • +3

you get 2 x 5000mAh, like a pair of socks. Idk why they named it so confusingly

      • thanks - yeah glad i wasnt the only one that was confused!

  • +1

I returned a set of these. Too big, really slow to heat and not very warm. Their smaller flat ones however are awesome. Fit in gloves and hot af.

      • +2

Yeah I have these and can confirm they get warm enough even on the lowest setting. Small and easy to hold. They'll only heat your palm or your finger tips, depending on how you hold them. If you stick two together you can do one entire hand but it's pretty cheap at the moment so maybe getting two sets is worth it.

    • How do you mean ‘fit in gloves’?

Squeeze them in with your palms?

    • What? They take tens of seconds to warm up.

    • +1

I have a few rechargeable hand warmers, however not this brand.
In my experience, once you turn the heat on, put it in your pocket for a few minutes. It gets very warm very quick.
But if you simply put them on straight your cold hands right after you turn it on, or leave it at the desk for it to get warm while it is cold outside, it'd take a long time to heat up if at all.

      TLDR
Pre-warm(Power=ON) the device for a few minutes in your pocket for the best results.

  • +1

I practice basketball at 5:30AM, takes ages for my hands to warm up in winter, maybe I could actually use something as silly sounding as these lol
