      Personal opinion

      • +5

Vodafone actually works better than Telstra where I live so I guess it depends on your location.

        • +2

100% i have noticed it has better coverage now i have both a telstra and vodafone both same iphones and the telstra one often drops in car parks where the vodafone keeps single and a connection.

        • I switched to Telstra from Vodafone Jan of this year & I'm not impressed with Telstra. Get fewer bars on my phone than Vodafone. Will be switching back.

    • Boring….

I'm happy to put up with everything bad with Vodafone just for their $5 a day overseas roaming.

      • what they still have?

      • +5

just buy a local sim it will be cheaper than 5 bucks a day.

      • Only for postpaid services.

Prepaid roaming packs are not great value on Vodafone.

        • +1

It's still $5/day, they just gimp the GB & mins allowances.

      • Does Vodafone offer free Roaming options via Wifi Calling (VoWiFi)

        • No, only Telstra-based services.

          • +1

@parisian: I was looking for an alternative to Boost Mobile as the Minimum 365 day plan is now $300 (was $150 few years ago)

            • +2

@utsc: Look into any Telstra MVNOs - they all support vowifi overseas if that’s of importance for your usages.

They operate on the wholesale network which is not the full Telstra network.

That said, I ported to More Telecom with the CBA rebate and I cannot fault the service.

I have coverage and good speeds when I need it and have not encountered any service coverage blackout in places I frequent.

Might be good to test it.

Boost $300 SIM card could be had for $200 today via cashback somewhere on ozbargain - suggest you sign up to alerts for prepaid deals to jump on them.

              • @parisian: Thank you. Yes need to jump through a few hoops to get a discount.

Ported to Lebara (they emailed an eSIM that was already activated, combine that with horrible customer service - need to find another provide to port) and wasted a full day with them. Reflecting back Boost customer service was similar when my order was not shipped.

Has Telstra / Boost completely moved their customers service overseas? I only was able to speak to agents from India or Philippines but that was not the case in the prior years as I have been a Boost customer for 8 years and was able to reach AU agents before

The 365 Boost $300 sim for $190 during the EOFY was not shipped although my order was confirmed and credit card charged. Boost offered a refund or asked to order a $2 Boost SIM and call support and do a manual port and activation / transfer of plan to the new sim

Bottom line. Need to spend a lot of time to get a $50 to $100 discount

                • @utsc: I would be unsure about where is Telstra's customer service based as I've never had to reach out to them - sorry.

    • I’m a long time Telstra business customer but have been unhappy with their service for the past 18 months or so (in metro Sydney). Recently did the Optus free trial and got the Kogan 4g sim as a backup and both outperform Telstra everywhere I go. My wife ported to Optus recently and says the same.

I’ll still keep Telstra with a boost sim probably but honestly, I can get a Boost, Optus and the Kogan sim for the same price I pay for Telstra currently.

Their current performance in metro areas does not line up with their price.

  • +1

I would jump on this, but one of my number's already with vodafone. Their coverage is hit and miss in my area so I wouldn't mind paying more for my other number to be on Aldi's just to have better internet.

      • I’ve found Boost to be bad in town centres, voice is fine but data in some places just doesn’t work at all. Very eager to switch.

    • Data congestion on ALDI is horrible I had to leave, used to regularly get full bars and no data at shopping malls and on transport etc . Definitely deprioritised service

      • I think Optus is pretty solid now. Felt less congested when I had the free 1 week trial eSIM. Then again, that might be why it was so speedy.

        • +1

Optus is good for me as well

          • @Onemoredeal: Funny how I say that but I still ended up with Vodafone cause of how cheap it was. I'll take the slow loading speeds sometimes haha

    • This was my issue, then they kept charging me after the ombudsman told them to cancel due to no service where I lived in suburban Adelaide.

  • +2

Does anyone know what the activation deadline is for this? I don't need a new prepaid account until March/April next year, but this is a good deal.

It says 'activate by 11/8 for bonus data', but what about the long expiry plan?

    • Yea. Love to know.

    • +3

You have 365 days to activate, but to get cashback, needs to be activated within 30 days.

    • +4

these deals come up often so you're better off waiting.

  • +1

    whats the activation date?

    • +1

It says in the t&C, must be activated within 30 days of purchase for cashback

  • $5 bonus cashback with shopback also??

  • If they reduced the top plan with international calls, I'll be all over it.

    • get on it today (12/8) via Cashrewards ;)
      300GB plan for $320 -> $199 -> ~$150

      • Wow, any idea when the CB will expire?

  • +2

If it's helppful for anyone: my SB cashback from this deal got aprpoved by itself on the 28th day without me activating the service. Westpac got approved few days later. For 2 plans I bought in my and partner names. I still activated the services on the 29th day as I planned anyway. Maybe it was luck, but FYI.

    • May I know if I must buy in the same name as my SB account?

  • +1

This is my go to sim. Best price/performance for your money.

    • Best bang for buck plan when it's on special for my teenage son also.

  • Jumped on this last time it was posted. Cashback for the purchase was tracked and confirmed within 3 weeks. Good deal

  • I’m using Felix to test the Vodafone network metro. They have been improvement but not enough to replace Optus or Telstra so far. Still have two other locations to test the network

  • Vodafone is better than Optus in my area, don't have the budget to try Telstra tho

  • I'm already on a Vodafone long expiry, just about to expire. Am I able to buy this as a recharge and activate? Or do I need to move provider, then come back?

    • You’d need to move to another provider first and then port back.

  • Can you activate this instantly via e-sim or have to wait for starter pack to physically arrive?

    • +1

You receive a physical Sim starter pack. Apparently once activated you can switch to an eSim

  • Bought it yesterday, missed the extra $20 :( ..

  • +2

Can't access the website now, under maintenance. Fffffff

  • Still under maintenance. Would've bought if possible.

  • I think this is only eligible for 30% cashback, there isn't a Westpac bonus for the $220 (now $179) sim on either Shopback App or Westpac app when I checked.

    "$50 Prepaid Plan (discounted to $20) 50.00%
    $35 Prepaid Plan (discounted to $12) 50.00%
    $250 Prepaid Plan (discounted to $179) 30.00%"

Works out to $125.30, then another $10 off if you're eligible for the other vodafone deal.

    • +1

The Westpac bonus expired yesterday before midnight.

      • Lol, I forgot it's already August

  • Any suggestions, how we can make international calls with this that Skype has been discontinued?

  • +1

I received the SIM card yesterday and just activated it today. When I check the Vodafone app - it shows I have 150gb data and not 220gb.

    Anyone know why?

    • +2

Same happened to me but within 12 hours the extra 70gb was credited. Has that happened to you? If not just ring them and I’m sure they’ll resolve it
Interestingly I activated two of these services at the same time- one the full data amount was credited straight away whilst it took 12hours for second ones to extra 70gb to be credited (I didn’t have to ring them to request it)

      • Thanks, I just ported and got only 150GB too, came to check what happened with others :) Hopefully, I will get extra data soon

      • Yep I got it the next day. Thanks.

  • I got 270GB, i think the extra 50GB was because i opted in for auto recharge.

  • Does anyone have a screenshot or link to the promotion? I am only getting 200gb instead of 200gb.
