Can't Cancel Coles Plus/Saver Online

Warning to fellow OzB's.

I tried to cancel my Coles Plus/Saver trials via three different browsers and whenever I click cancel, it says, "please tell us why you're cancelling" and there's no options or text box to enter/select anything,

Then I tried the online support and after asking for a human they "transferred" me from one bot to another bot, who couldn't cancel for me, then finally I called up and got them cancelled

I reckon it's deliberate to sign us all up with free trial then make it difficult to cancel!

    I had the same issue.

Had to use a Chrome desktop browser in the end for the options to show up.

It's probably not malicious and just incompetent Web design, but it is a shitty experience. The whole Coles subscription and customer service is surprisingly garbage.

    • +8

Could be malicious incompetence. Should put in the same amount of effort to the unsub process as subbing.

    • Could be an add-on in your browser. Try a clean browser (eg. stock Edge) and see how you go.

  • +2

Considering, no-one else is having issues (even posting on FB page) … And google searches turning up trumps.

Do you use an ad-block plugin or some sort of blocker?
    That would be my focus.

As to saying being difficult to cancel … Did you try the multiple of options listed by Google AI??? (including the email address).

[EDIT] : some ad-block plugins are notorious for blocking whole sections of code … Esp ones that target elements in code.

    Say it aint so!

A corporate giant wanting more money from people - unheard of !!

Just cancelled mine in the app no dramas

  • +1

I had the same trouble, found out the phone number to call is 1800 455 400 which got me to a human

  • +1

thx for the reminder. I just checked and they wanted tocharge me soon
I wsent to cancel and each option is written in a confusing way where you think you are cancelling but your not.
I know thier tricks so I managed to cancel.

  • I had the exact same issue last night when I tried to cancel on my phone (on both Safari and Firefox).

However it worked when I used Firefox on my laptop.

  • +3

I went to cancel yesterday but it said next payment of $0 will be will be charged on Aug 27. Pretty sure I did 3 months already but happy to have another month, will leave and see what happens…

    • -1

I see the same thing. I checked invoice history and it shows 3 previous $0 invoices, but shows next payment will be $0 on 26th August. I'm not sure I trust it, but might update my payment details to an account with nothing in it just in case.

    • +1

There is a longstanding one month free offer for Coles Plus, so if you had not used it before on that account, you should have 4 months of Coles Plus free, but only 3 months for Coles Plus Saver.

    • +1

Yes I was wanting to wait and see. However after receiving the email, I am convinced that it won't go through as $0.

      • +2

        Hmm got this email too…

    • I had a message saying i would be charged $0 as well. Then just now got charged $7.

      • Did you screenshot that $0 notice? I did if you want to borrow it! Hope they can refund you. I ended up cancelling anyway after I got an email a few days later saying trial is ending.

        • +1

I did take a screenshot, thankfully. Thanks though!
They've replied saying they've requested a refund which I should receive in 3-5 days if eligible. So will wait and see.

Canceled using Chrome on the phone
Easy enough, although they did ask 3 times if I’m sure.

    • +5

      Are you sure?

    • +2

      You sure?

    • +1

      so you're sure you're sure?

  • +3

Is it time to cancel our 3 month trial already?

  • I had no issues cancelling mine on a laptop.

  • +1

Just looking at this now, I had a reminder to cancel but when i go in it says I my next payment is $0 so I think I'll leave it another month. But yeah don't trust them as far as you could Kick Uluru.

    • +2

Mine too, but I took screenshots of the $0 next charge for both and the missing reason section in the cancellation screen to prepare to fight them when they charge me.

      • +1

There’s no need to fight, and a screenshot isn’t the ultimate proof, it can be easily modified. Coles refund policy states you can get a refund within 14 days if you haven’t used the benefits, and their customer support is usually pretty helpful.

The 3 months free has been fairly underwhelming to be honest.
They're mysteriously out of stock of at least a few items whenever I order with my monthly 10% off click and collect.
In true Ozbargain spirit I only order stuff that's either already on sale at a good price or stuff that never gets marked down.
Last month I walked into the shop after collecting my order and I saw the shelf is full of the items missing from my order.
    Dodgy.

  • I had the same issue in Firefox. Had to use Chrome.

  • +1

Had same issue - I use pihole at home - disabling this allowed me to cancel. Definitely adblocker related.

    • if it's related to adblocker then it is likely they have implemented some sort of website trackers/tags which when blocked by the adblocker, the code breaks.

try using Brave as well if the process is also broken.

    • I also couldn't cancel while on pihole. Worked when not connected to wifi(pihole is only on wifi router).

    • adguard home also interferes with the cancellation process

  • yeah same thing as OnePass before

  • also had to turn off adguard

  • +1

Had the same issue in Firefox. Signed in on Chrome and no issues.

As for the feedback, I asked that they apply the discount to every shop up to $50/mth savings rather than limit it to once a month.

My shopping routine consists of many sub $100 shops rather than a single big shop per month so the way this has been set up doesn't meet my needs.

  • Same, just had to disable ublock and it worked fine.

  • Just cancelled mine no problems. Thanks for the reminder!

  • Cancel or not, that is the question

    • It was obvious for me… cancel and ask for a better deal.

These one large shops per month just to make the most of a discount are just criminal.

      • +1

        I’m not planning to pay.
The reason I’m holding off is this message: “You’re a monthly member. Your next payment of $0 will be deducted on…”
If they don’t charge me, it’s basically another free month.
Keep the bank balance below $7 and see how it goes

        • Ah, I see. Good luck with that.

I got that same message too, but also got an email with the following message this arvo:

"Your Coles Plus Saver free 3-month promotion is ending, and your first monthly payment of $7 will be charged to your nominated payment method on 24/08/2025. If you wish to amend your details or cancel your subscription, please visit your account page and follow the prompts."

I mean, it's only $7 at the end of the day but I'm not planning on making any large shops at Coles for the next month. My last 10% discounted shop I grabbed a lot of non-perishable necessities. Got a tonne of meat in the freezer so I'm only grabbing milk and juice from the supermarket as I need them atm. Gonna do more home cooking over the next few weeks so mainly visits to our green grocer (where $20 goes a long way).

My Coles account is also linked to my paypal account and I can't be bothered changing that around so I cancelled.

  • Like others said, disabling all the adblocks would help you to go through. Another trick is to use Revolut's disposable cards whenever the merchants accept them.

  • Just cancelled mine with no problems.

  • Yeah same. I ended up just cancelling my PayPal authorization.

  • +1

The website account screen says amount due on 19th Aug is $0. The email received a few days ago says otherwise. Tried to email Coles to get clarification on which is incorrect and it is going around in circles.

    • id suggest you take a screenshot of where it shows $0 on aug 19th
If they do charge you then show them the screenshot and they should be able to redund you or offer you compensation

      • Yeah I sent them screenshots and they kept answering on tangents. After a whole bunch of back and forth emails they have confirmed there will be a charge. And going back onto the website the $0 has been removed so instead of saying "you will be charged $0 on 19th Aug" it just says "you will be charged on 19th Aug" now. Of course no acknowledgement there was any error or the previous screenshots were incorrect.

        • I'm going through this now. Just sent them an email. Did it ever get resolved for you or did you just pay for another month?

          • @trabug: End up canceling as they ended up removing the "$0" part without any notification.

            • @niyiaw: Good thing you cancelled early.
              A bit dodgy of them.

              • @trabug: To be fair, they never did say you could stack the free 3 month trial on top of the 1 month trial. But their website just didn't make it clear. Either way got a free $15ish off them.

Thought nothing of it because I was able to cancel both for my account on Brave desktop.
Just tried to cancel for my mum's card and it didn't work on 3 different browsers (Brave desktop, Edge desktop, Chrome mobile).
I've sent off an email to support, see what they say.

    • +1

Update: It appears to have been fixed this morning. There's also a new message telling you to disable your ad blocker and to call if it still doesn't work.

  • +2

I have tried Opera, Firefox, Chrome, Vivaldi and the app and i am unable to cancel the subs…. I have disabled Ublock, I have tried private windows. Still no luck.

    • Try on the APP and with WIFI OFF, worked for me just now

      • I sent them an email yesterday and they sent me one today saying they will cancel it but funnily they had someone elses name when they said Hi ….. But it is my email address so i presume they cancelled the right accounts.

  • +1

Got charged the $7 renewal. Sent them an email with screenshots saying it was $0 and the cancellation screen that didn't work on any browser/device combination. Keep getting generic emails back saying "this is how you cancel". Finally got one that said they're investigating. Meanwhile was able to get a friend to log in as me and cancel from her desktop.

    • Did you end up getting a refund?

      • +1

Just got it on Friday after calling them, email support was useless

  • +1

I tried everything and finally figured it works on the APP and with WIFI OFF!!
    Hope this helps

  • I didn't even cancel, they canceled my membership. because I put prepaid no balance card to sign up. they couldn't take money and they canceled it… :D :D :D LoL.
