  • How do you get the 20 off first app purchase?

    • Just saw it on the item page in web browser when I had logged in to my Amazon account. Try it if you haven't purchased via app yet, it should show up. I couldn't find the promo page anywhere.

These are great machines, but don't go in thinking you can use them for gaming :

powerful AMD Radeon 680M 12 Cores Graphics Card; performance is almost close to that of a full NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti. Coupled with the support of FSR 3.0+ technology, the computer can handle heavy computing tasks and AAA gaming.

The equivalent 1050 Ti is no longer powerful, and definately can't handle AAA gaming - this was a low end card almost a decade ago, we used to drop them into low profile machines back then to get some semblance of gaming ability. What was low end a decade ago, isn't capable today 😁

Can anyone guide me on how to get good mini PC deals? Currently need one to replace a dying laptop that just sits on my desk. Looking at all the current deals they don't seem to be so great

    • I'm in the same boat.

My laptop is Linux and definitely doesn't see any gaming. The main reason for changing it, probably fire hazard since it is plugged in 24/7.

Comparing my CPU, my laptop is on par with the N100. So if I want to replace the laptop with another, similar model, I would need to go to a mini pc with N100.

I am waiting for the fathers day deals and see if there are any around $300 mark that would be better than an N150 or so and probably bite the bullet then.

    • @HaydosK @Ooops https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/921278 these two are fine mini PCs, hop to it 👌

      • Missed it.

      • The deal might be back? What one to get if so? Pros and cons? It's for simple web browsing but need alot of tabs open at all times.

It's so good these mini pcs are still a big thing after NUCs died

    • .. after NUCs died

What distinguished NUC from every other mini PC was that it was designed for 24/7 reliability, with upmarket price to match. ASUS licensed designs and trademark and its NUC 15 Pro hosts Intel's latest Ultra 7 265H - how is that dead?

yeah but the asus thing is sorta different no?

i remember setting up a stage w msi nucs one time

780m at this price. Don’t settle for less.

    I'd spend a bit more for a unit with a 780m tbh

I use this mainly for a Proxmox home lab server, so higher GPU wasn't my priority. It ticked all the boxes for what I was looking for and at this price range was the best option. I preferred GMKtec over some other lesser known brands specially when this is supposed to run 24/7, and its dual fan is a plus point over other no fan options. This has 2 x 2.5Gpbs LANs and its CPU has 8 cores / 16 threads, and more importantly it has some good upgrade options for the future, maximum 64GB DDR5 RAM and 4 TB PCIE4 SSD, and a USB4 and an Oculink port to add more PCIe stuff in the future if need be. If you are after a good mini server and don't care about higher GPU I highly recommend this.

  • Would this run Fortnite well?

  • Almost bought this, seems perfect, but luckily the comments told me how bad it is and that a better one will appear some day in the future.

And gets sold in minutes and we continue to wait for another good deal 😁

Might help those looking for 780m GPU, you can choose the K6 model (with the 7840HS Ryzen CPU, 16 GB DDR5 RAM and 1TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD), which is on a deal for AU $619.99. With only 16GB RAM, but still cheaper than GMKtec website (32GB DDR5 + 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD is ~ AU $745).
