        • Waiting for that resume to hit my DM’s!

  • I made an order on the 26th scheduled for the 30th, but the service is yet to be activated.

I called Arctel earlier and they said that they are working through a backlog of orders.

    • Yeah i also did a future connection order for today. Other than initial order confirmation ive had no correspondence. Will contact them today to find out when it will be provisioned.

      • I changed my router setting to Dynamic IP from PPPoE, and then called them. After about 2 to 4 hrs I was online. So best to do this if not already.

        • Just got connected now. Just had to change port on NTD and it connected immediately.

        • Yes, this has now been updated on the connection notice… IPoE is a newer technology & a lot easier for us to manage at scale.

Anyone connected in Melbourne, could you please share your latency results?

    • following

    • Just tested in St Kilda East, VIC

Not sure why speeds are a bit lower than around the 700 I've been getting…

    • I get mid 800 Mbps on Ethernet and 600-700 Mbps on wifi(1m away), but only 150 Mbps at 5-8m. Router’s old, so probably time to upgrade. Also notice speed tests start slow. Latency/jitter 30-60 ms (on wifi), should be closer to 15-30 ms. Does this mean their servers are slow or router issue?

  • +2

Just got connected. 593Mpbs down, 46Mpbs up. Not bad. Ping is 33. Adelaide region.

  • Scheduled the connection for yesterday but then I read comments that they don't activate on a weekend.
Called up today and within an hour they activated it.
    Fastest connection I've ever experienced.
    Get around 600/43 via wifi.
Limitations are probably my router and device

  • Does anyone know if they have a POP in QLD, only seeing posts from NSW, VIC, SA. Curious before signing up if my traffic will route via Sydney first.

    • +2

      They have one in Sydney
      Rep posted
      - Melbourne POP 7-10 days
      - Perth POP end of September 2025.

      Nothing about Brisbane yet

      • Thanks - we do have a Brisbane POP but this is looking like an October setup at this point.

        • When is the Adelaide POP coming online?

  • -2

Also wanting to know if they have a POP in perth ?

And if they offer to opt out of CGNAT in favour of
    static IP ?

If any one in perth has connected please post results of PING

    Thanks

    • +2

No and no. They also didn't have any info on static IP or cgnat on their website when they launched the service, and on top of that were straight up lying in their support emails saying they did offer static IP and no cgnat!

  • +2

Not the best experience so far, still waiting to be connected and disconnected me from my other provider over 2 hours ago. Multiple calls and nothing. Cannot even cancel until it's live…. Saving a buck isn't always worth it

    • Please share the cancelation experience. I called to cancel but no luck.

    • +1

Make sure your router is set to connect via dynamic IP, not PPPoE.

  • Is this no contract, month to month? If so do you have to give 30 days notice to cancel?

    • +1

Yes, 30-day notice. They must have a retention team or something.

  • +1

fast for now, not sure performance in long term.
Remember turn your router to dynamic IP mode and wait. they wont email you anything with activation, at lease no email notification for me. nothing.

    • Speeds will not be impacted, we have been an underlying enterprise provide for years - network is ready for the traffic. Has been a few support cases & API issues with the NBN the team has been working hard to resolve!

  • +1

Any feedback from those who signed up from Perth WA

  • Anyone actually go live today? The google reviews look to be paid for. 7 hours no internet.

    • Yep I did. Had to call them them they activated me within an hour

    • Yep got connected today as scheduled. Got email once done. Just had to move my port on NTD to next port available for FTTP service.

  • I have a synology nas at home where I backup my PC's at work. I'm guessing this plan won't work for me with cgnat enabled?

    • +2

you can punch a hole using tailscale or cloudfare tunnel

Order confirmation came through Wednesday last week. No contact since. Gave them a call and said I needed to supply my AVC, but can only do it via emailing support. No ETA or other instructions given. Surely most of the correspondence could be automated. Hopefully the quality of the connection is better than the customer service.

    • needed to call a couple of times. Once to get connected and once again to get my NBN NTD IP reset but now it works. Calling through was quick and was talking to someone in less than 2 mins.

      • Thanks for your patience, we have been a little inundated with the onboarding support for users! Ensuring Dynamic IP is enabled on your device will definitely help for a seamless transition.

Just connected and noticed the pings jumped a fair bit from my previous provider, Buddy (Aussie). Decided to do a Telstra Ookla speedtest from Gippsland VIC, results below:-

    Location Down Up Ping

    Perth 804.46 46.9 65
    Sydney 932.95 47.8 18
    Melbourne 900.19 47.53 29
    Adelaide 926.17 47.58 39
    Brisbane 931.81 47.81 32
    Darwin 737.86 46.57 73
    Hong Kong 215.47 42.78 153

    • +2

Good work, funny how noone else is posting pings.
I suspect will be over 30ms if not very close to a POP.

For non-gamers it may not matter as much but I like snappy internet and fast loading pages.

The main thing is, people should be willing to settle for less than ideal quality and service for the intro price (get what you pay for) then move in 6 months. I moved straight away from spintel as it was so rubbish, so that's always an option.

      • Hold tight… Melbourne & Perth PING is about to be optimised.

  • +1

Signed up, connected within the hour. The actual "you've been connected" email came an hour after connection lol.
Getting 550ish down, 50 up. Was kinda hoping for more until the official cut to 500 but oh well.
For any other weebs like me, my ping to Japanese games is about 180ms via ethernet. Was previously getting 120ms with Superloop. South Australia as location.

    • Give ExitLag a try, it may be worth just purchasing Exitlag alongside this and you'll save a ton. (If the game's supported)

  • Too bad no matching $50 offer for 100/50 choice; can't pick the one mentioned in this coupon/deal.

Oh well guess they won't be getting my money then :P

      • Personal opinion. Great for the price for me in Melbourne. If you expecting full price service, look elsewhere. Accept it for what it is and you'll he happy. Great for those looking for a budget high speed option, given they are getting fewer and fewer.

      • nah at the 6 month mark now gotta churn. They weren't interested in extending their offer or doing anything remotely close to the next best offer which for us is Dodo next (since can't do this).

          • @G-Shock: nah we're currently with Origin and they weren't interested in trying when I gave the reason for scheduling the cancellation. Double the price is more than a couple of dollars unfortunately lol

              • +2

@G-Shock: At least NBN is much easier to compare and switch compared to trying to avoid the lazy tax with insurances and electricity/gas, with all their fine print differences and rates of sub-items.

          • @G-Shock: Not that hard. Hardest part is making sure you give 30 days notice. Otherwise it takes an hour of your time to save 100-150 bucks over 6 months. Worth it to me.

            • @hazzad: That's good. It is hard if you already had an origin gas or electricity account, was the point, and they wouldn't add the internet deal later.

              • @G-Shock: Fair call. One of the reason i dont do bundle deals Easier to move about and just as cheap if not cheaper by moving around utilities individually. But you have to be willing to do the leg work.

Signed up in Adelaide coming from buddy. Was paying $104 for gigabit plan and static IP. Getting 950 down and 48 up with Arctel which is slightly better than the 940/48 up I was getting with buddy. Ping has gone from 2ms to 20ms over Ethernet which I assume is due to the only poi being in Sydney.

Wireless speed test result below for confirmation of speeds.

      Shame about the Ping

  • Signed up at 11am, got disconnected from old ISP around 1pm, rebooted modem and all working.

  • Can anybody in SEQLD that has signed up to this comment on ping?

Personally not phased about Speeds as 100mbps+ is plenty for my usage, but require low ping.

Currently on Superloop getting 15ms ping to Brisbane, 18ms to Sydney.

    • I lived in Brisbane Area.

The ping is around 30-40ms to Sydney.

Got a call today that my CG-NAT has been disabled and public IP assigned. Stoked!

    • What did you have to do to achieve that? Just call and ask?

      • +1

I'd emailed them as soon as I signed up and they actioned it today (I had a email thread with them before I signed up asking if they did it)

        • When I contacted them they told me that opting out only works with their supplied modem. Assuming you’re using their modem?

          • +2

@Khaosprinz: Nope! My own modem, I'm on FTTP though if that changes anything?

        • I also emailed and received this reply

Thank you for checking us out!

Unfortunately, there will be an additional cost of $5 to opt out on CGNAT.

  • cut off buddy's service 12am yesterday, their support team resolved my nbn ntd issue quickly and internet came back at 4pm same day. no bad speed in sydney.
    https://www.speedtest.net/result/18176178780

  • Signed up and connected 30 minutes after ordering. Anyone else getting speed issues? Only getting 90/40 on a 500/40 plan. I'm in Melb west if that helps.
    https://www.speedtest.net/result/18176839661

    • Scary, I’m going ffrom superloop 1000/50 to this on the 9th. I will lose it if get that kind of non speed.

    • What were you getting beforehand and how are you testing?

      • Was with tangerine on 100/20 plan. Getting pretty much the same download speeds. Tested wired through ethernet and tried on phone, getting the same 90/40 on both. Called support and they told me to send evidence of my speeds through to their email and they'll get back to me eventually. Not much I can do but wait I guess. I saw atleast 300/40 when I tested on my phone a right after connecting to Arctel so I know it's capable of being higher than it is now

        • Have you confirmed you've definitely switched provider? If you go to speed test.net it should say your current ISP. Sounds like maybe the provisioned the new service on a different ntd?

          • @BillyGoat666: Yep, 100% confirmed the switch, I'm connected with Arctel. Best I can do now is wait for an email back

            • @ElSkoos: how did you go with this? I am in West as well and considering them. Thanks.

  • Was on letsbemates,

    7pm - switched to Arctel
    11pm - got activated

on 500/50 now instead of 100/20. Not bad performance in VIC.

Hey @ARCTEL, i saw that your website said it would be on the 1000/50 by default, is that right? Also, i saw someone post they had been allocated a static ip, is that something i just need to ask for?

    • The rep said here that the 1000/50 speed was only for a limited time

  • +1

For those who are getting just under 100Mbps, you need to replace/upgrade your cat5e ethernet cable.
I had the same issue and this fixed it for me.

    • Indeed, there is a lot of “in house” troubleshooting around the speed upgrades. Wifi routers & Ethernet cables will play a big role in achieving your maximum speeds!

  • Actually pleasantly surprised, initially had like a day or two of down time for internet but once it was up was speedy and consistent.

  • CGNAT Opt-out costs $5 per month

  • Signed up and was told needed an nbn guy to come out on the 11th for the activation…

My current nbn internet is going to get cancelled tomorrow

Out of luck with no internet for a week :(

    • ive been in this same situation with another provider before. Get your current provider to extend the cancellation date until the activation

    • Why does it need someone to come out?

  • +2

    Hi XXX,

Your service has been set up with CG-NAT disabled

Please note, from October, we will be charging a $5 fee per month for CG-NAT opt outs

If you have any questions, please let us know

    Thanks,
    Arctel Support

    • +2

I got the same email. Was thinking CG-NAT was a free op outs.
Wonder how others got around this

  • Is there an account management page on the website? cant seem to find one.

    • +2

Unless it was added recently, I recall the rep saying there’s no customer portal yet

      • My Account is due to be launched ASAP! In the interim, please email through for any billing / account issues.

Cutover from Leaptel within 30 minutes. Latency aint as good as Leaptel (given I'm traversing to Sydney, and I'm based in Melbourne) but downloads are pretty much the same.
    Good job Arctel.
For the record was pretty happy with Leaptel but going through some belt tightening atm =/
Will be interested to know when to expect the Melbourne location to go live.

    • Is their PoP only in Sydney, ie everything routes there?

  • Just ordered, I put my connection date as early October. I am on HFC so hopefully the cutover process will be quite smooth. I'll post an update in a month's time!

  • Looking forward to being away from Exetel. Endless problems with them, though they do have good pings (6ms to Telstra Sydney) but I'm not a gamer so I'll happily take the speed and discount.

    • Where's that 6ms from? I assume not in Sydney itself?

In Melbourne basically any suburb gets 2ms to local servers

      • From Newcastle, 2hrs north of Sydney

  • Possible to access a BGP looking glass to see how things route? If it's routed well, Vocus has access to the theoretical lowest current SYD>LAX cable, so would be quite could peering to NA.

Which locations do you have PoPs in? Is it just Sydney? (Some have reported Melbourne routes via Sydney)

  • Well I'm connected, but only getting 184 / 46 from the 1000 / 50… A newish FTTP connection here.

Anyone else experiencing this? Bit of a let down. I mean it's still cheaper than Exetel so that's good, but I was expecting at least 500 down.

I never power cycled anything, it switched over during my sleep. Maybe that's needed?

    • +1

Power cycle would be a good idea

      • +2

Ah. Power cycle didn't help but having just woken up I was speed testing on my Google Pixel 8 Pro, which must be a phone limit. When using my PC I'm up to 941 / 47!

        Loving it

  • +2

CG-NAT disabled within hours of connecting. How nice to be on an ISP where things just work. Blows Exetel out of the water. Even pings are in the ballpark.

Connection was a piece of cake for me. I put the request through Friday night and it was done before I woke up Saturday morning (my Exetel connection is live for 4 more days so I got in early just in case there were complications)

    • +1

Glad to hear it went smooth, we have been a little inundated in the background, but the support & patience from everyone has been amazing!

      • Credit where credits due. It's been great so far for me, can't fault it.
