        • @Click_It what was the process to move away from Exetel? Did you have to give them 30 days notice?

          • @expertreader: Yeah 30 days, which I think is the same with Arctel. It's a pain if you're not prepared for it. Just plan ahead and it's fine. I've heard others challenge it and get it dropped too but I couldn't be bothered.

          • @expertreader: Yes, a 30-day notice is required. You can initiate the cancellation via call or live chat, and they will send you an email with the scheduled cancellation date shortly.
When I did so recently, the web chat rep was reluctant to handle the cancellation and wanted to direct me to call instead. However, I queued for 20 minutes, and it is clearly stated on their website that you can cancel through the live chat, so I was firm about it. He proceeded to do it after going through a list of questions about customer experience, why I want to cancel that are probably part of his SOP to ask.

For those doing speed tests, you should check which servers you're testing against to control for outside variables.

Depending on which servers I'm testing against, I can see >300mbps differences in download speed, and jitter changing from single to double digits.

** Please give us 24 hours to process your request!

    • HI Team Triforce

I don't need a static IP, but I need to be out of CGNAT. My VOIP fax does not work with CGNAT. (Low volume use, I may receive fax once a month).
How much will it cost for getting out of CGNAT?
      Thank you.

      • This is the only option out for CG-NAT.

        • +4

This is the only offered option out for CG-NAT.

        • I need to opt out of CG-NAT but don’t need a static IP (nor am I willing to pay extra for it).
When will IPv6 be available, and does it cost extra?

    • Maybe add this info to the main post.

  • Do they activate on weekends?

    • I requested Friday night and it went live before I woke up Saturday morning. With CG-NAT being disabled Saturday too.

      • Did you pay for static IP?

        • I wasn't thinking I would but apparently I will be, I think lol

    • Yes we do!

      • Whats your timeframe? Been about 7 hours so far

  • I found out recently that I was not able to access work folders while WFH due to not having a static IP, has anyone experienced this before?

  • @Team Triforce
How long is this deal for? I need to give exetel 30 days notice.

I know the post says 14/09 but i checked the conditions doc and it only mentions that it will be provisioned at 1000 and then stepped down to 500 on 14/09 because of the NBN speed tier change. Couldn't see any mention of that being the date the deal ends.

    • +3

You can order 30 days in advance!

      • I signed up and need my service activated a couple of days early, is there any way I can do this?

        • Yep, send through a ticket to support!

      • How do I request have this activate on a particular day? I've already given notice and need to activate by the end of this month

        • +1

You will see the option to select your date when signing up.

      • I have given my 30 days of notice to TPG. However, when I'm trying to sign up with Arctel, it now says you can only sign up 7 days in advance.

Can you verify whether this deal is still good past 14th Sept or do I need to sign up now and waste 23 days that I've already paid with TPG.

        • Yes, the maximum forward days of booking is now set at 7 days to help ease the process of provisioning for this promotion.

    • Exetel removed the 30 day requirement

      • I am waiting for a live chat agent, the AI bot advised that legacy plans still require 30 days notice. The new One plans do not.

Still waiting for a retention specialist, but chatbot states you can switch to the one plan then cancel without notice straight away, just so stupid.
And really disappointed with Exetel as i checked last week and they said they are not automatically moving people from legacy to One plan, instead they will continue to pay the higher price (i am on a 6 month lower price still) and maintain phone support, so $5 per month for phone support.

      • +2

Just an FYI, this is a half truth.
Yes they removed the 30 day notice, but if you want an immediate cancellation on the new one plan you will need to wait until the end of your billing cycle as they do not refund unused days.

Cancel on day 1 of a new cycle and you will pay for the whole month.

  • Can we BYO modem and request the $5 static IP add on to opt out of CG-NAT?

Also how long will this deal be around? Planning on signing up next week (for a 30 day activation notice).

    • Same question, following!

    • Expires on the 14/09!

  • Thanks OP signed up. $50 willing to give it a go.

  • +1

Make sure you supply avc Id. When checking out I read / interpreted the message about Avc as 'only supply it if you have an active service'. Since my superloop had been disconnected for 3 days I didn't supply one. Tbh had no idea what the Avc Id is.. ive never provided that to any service provider before. Sat around about 10 hours today waiting for internet and just called them to find out it didn't progress because no Avc I'd.

Emailed it across and they say they now wait for nbns response which is usually 1-2 hrs.

    Hopefully all sorted soon.

    • You spoke to them today? I tried calling and emailing etc no reply.

      • +1

Yeah you need to select option 3 tech support. I was calling several times throughout the day to get voicemail and then it hit me the tech support option is probs 24 hours.

        • Thanks bud. 👍

    • For me the AVC is in small print on my bill.

  • Booked in for 23/9. Hopefully the service is working like a well oiled machine by then!

  • Decided to give you guys a go, but disabling cgnat now require extra $5 correct? I guess I'll just pay that after service is active?

    • That's my understanding yes. I got in hours before the change. But $55 is still a steal.

      • +1

        What change?

From next month anyone who opted out of CGNAT will pay $5 regardless.

        • I thought it was only from the point of the announcement on, rather than predating everyone who's opted out. But either way not the end of the world.

        • Correct, there were some initial users who will be notified about the additional $5 charge before its added to your monthly bill!

    • It doesnt disable cgnat, it just gives you a static IP behind cgnat. Big difference and not worth imho

  • +1

Update after a week or so, I'm about 300km south of Sydney (Nowra-Bomaderry POI) so the lack of POPs' isn't really an issue for me.

7ms to Google/Cloudflare DNS on wired connection (Same as I've had for any ISP from memory).
    210-215ms to east coast USA.

Consistent 900/45+ speedtests on both WIFI (802.11ax 5G) and ethernet.

Had CGNat disabled within a couple of hours of emailing them. Can't really fault them so far, I remember the old days of new ISPs oversubscribing and having an almost unusable latency during peak hours, but I'll report back If I get any issues.

    • So this is the 500/50 plan? Its not capped? How much extra is no CGNAT?

      • Yes 500/50 but currently uncapped until 15th of September.

I don't think there's an extra cost to have CGNAT removed, the $5 is probably only if you want a static IP as well.

Edit, actually reading the rep's reply above it seems they'll only be offering CGNAT opt-out along with static IP. I did read something about it being free until the end of this month, but I'm not sure if that's an ongoing thing or once-off.

    • Thanks for the feedback, we have definitely been a little busy with all the subscribers, however the network is preforming well!

    Hi,

I'm on FTTP with another provider currently on UNI-D1 and I want to have no downtime so I want to order the Arctel service on UNI-D2 and make sure Arctel is all working well before cancelling my existing provider. There doesn't seem to be a field in the order form to ask for this?

Also, I've noticed a number of posters mention putting the AVC ID in the order form, do I still put that in even though I want to order a second service on UNI-D2 and keep my existing service for the timebeing?

    Thanks for your help! Cheers

  • Hi @Team Triforce I signed up a week ago and the service could not be done today. Modem checked in DHCP and rebooted, kept saying no cable connected, while the service was still works fine yesterday. Dropped an email. Could you help? Thx.

  • Signed up on Friday for activation on the 19th, confirmation email didn't say anything about the 19th. Called support was told to email support instead. emailed support who said "your request has been forwarded onto the ordering team who will review and update per your request.".
Saturday (6th) received email confirming service has been activated… checked, nope still with old ISP, check port 2 nope. called support, couldn't really tell me anything, possibly with NBN activations team..

I don't really care so much, was trying to align with my billing period of old ISP.

My thoughts are the activation email was incorrect as it is still not active.

  • Just sharing my experience with a call with technician at Arctel pre-sign up…

I'm currently on FTTC (nbn website only shows "available technology FTTP" for some reason, I never took on the free upgrade before) and called to ask about the transition to FTTP if I took up the 500/50 offer.

The technician just repeatedly say things along the lines of, FTTC is outdated, needs to be upgraded, you'll get fast speed, etc sales jargon and couldn't answer my question.

I repeatedly clarified my inquiry on downtime and process, and in the end the BEST answer was basically "No idea on downtime nor whether you would be hooked up on an existing FTTC plan first, nothing is for certain as it's all within 'the system' which will be lodged as a FTTP connection"

I even asked if I could speak with someone that knows 'the system' and the answer was "I worked with NBN for 7 years", which doesn't mean he knows the system…

So essentially I could be stuck without any FTTC connection for 10~15 days depending on when FTTP finishes if I sign up.

    Guess I'll pass…

  • Just swapped to Arctel from Buddy - order placed 3.30pm, internet down at 3.50pm, up and running at about 4.10pm. Very impressed so far!

  • Anyone from Perth could post their pings?

  • Signed up for next month (mid Oct) activation but my CC has alrady been charged for first month fee. Has already come out of Superloop and now enjoying Buddy's first free month 1gbps connection. Hard to to pass on this offer. Picked up activation date afrer couple of days of Buddy's free trial, just because activation will fail otherwise (1.3 gbps limitaion on NTD) will fall over to Launtel for stop-gap for those days. I hope the AVC ID of my terminated Superloop will sufice for this guys to be able to activate my service. Lets see how this plan turns out be…

  • Looks like you can't sign up for more than 7 days in the future now

  • +4

Hi Rep, I was looking to connect next month as my plan finishes but while trying to checkout it shows signing up cannot be greater than 7 days while it was 30 days before !

    • Hi @Team Triforce - i'm in the same boat…I am trying to signup for connecting early Oct…guess I'll have to pass then and go with somebody else who offers 30 days connection? Not sure I can miss the Spintel deal and leave it for too late

      • +2

Yep had already given my notice and discovered this. Spintel is $65 but I figure losing a whole month is going to offset this anyway.

Plus spintel is a known quantity at least whereas these guys are just starting out. Shame though - was willing to give them a go

        • well, Arctel's loss I guess…I have gone ahead with Southern Phone and getting an eero7 for no cost (hopefully internet is good and I don't switch for 12 months)…seems like a no-brainer and in a way good that Arctel introduced this restriction….

even though my modem supports 1 Gbps, I realized that my mesh is on older tech and would be restricted to 100mbps due to the LAN restrictions, so even if went with Arctel I would have had to spend another $125 or so even to get a cheap Tplink mesh

          • @zooter: ah right, so how does that work?

u get the modem but u have to give back to them if you don't stay for the whole 12 months?

I was considering southern phone too cause their deal is 12 months instead of 6? I don't actually know if I need another modem though - I have an Asus RT-AC68U so will just need to see if eero7 is actually better than that.

            • +1

@witsa: you will have to pay prorated fees - $10 per month plus 1 month cancellation fee…so if you go with $65 deal, then you pay $185 if you cancel immediately, $175 if you cancel 1 month down the line and so on….I still think it's a good deal for 1 Eero 7 as it retails at $299 in Amazon

Based on Google search your router seems pretty top of line, but note you have to check with your model specs on max wifi speed because older routers don't support more than 300 Mbps wifi…also, my use case is different…Eero 7 increases coverage across the home for me as my router is pretty old and basic model…if you have sufficient coverage across your home and router can handle 500 Mbps, then no need to get the Eero 7

            • @witsa: marketplace the eero 7 - easy and quick $100 bucks

              • +1

@angelkulit025: did a bit of research, sounds like my rt-ac68u whilst working fine, is probably due for an upgrade anyway, so the eero 7 is probably worth it even in extreme case that southern phone is really terrible and i have to quit within my first month. Still get the eero 7 for $185.

                • @witsa: signed up last night with activation dated 7th October. Seems pretty good with the few clarifications i made with them regarding CGNAT.

          • +1

@zooter: thanks for this, i might go with them as well just for the eero modem, i'm currently using eero 6 btw from Superloop

    • +1

      In the same boat +1

Just canceled my Superloop and looking to connect ealy Oct and found the date is not available to select…

    • Same here. Sigh….

  • +13

    @ARCTEL

Please extend this offer or can we have a delayed start greater than 7 days.

Unfortunately a lot of us are with providers that try to impose 30 day notices and it's a bit of a stuff around getting them to waive it

  • Signed over from exetel.. hopefully no dramas. Cant really complain about exetel, been bulletproof but its expensive

any tips on best setup for ZTE H1600 modem?

    • I just configured the modem and blow me down its already connected at 1000 ! unreal..

  • What’s the plan once the new NBN speeds are released in a few days?

    • It's provisioned as a 1000 service until the 15th and then will revert to the 500 stipulated in the deal.

  • +2

So it was allowed to signup beyond 7 days before? They suddently changed it?

    • This prevents me from signing up now. I guess I'll look elsewhere.

      • +1

        username checks out

  • What connection type do they use? Do I keep my router settings on Dynamic? Or do I need to use PPPoE? I'm currently on Buddy and wondering if I'll likely to have change any settings or if it'll just work?

  • There might be a genuine reason for limiting it to 7 days. Since the speed upgrades take effect on the 14th, other NBN providers could introduce new offers. Users who have already signed up with Arctel but whose service hasn't yet been activated might then ask for refunds, prompting Arctel to issue them. This could lead to additional costs on their end, money that otherwise would have gone to genuine Arctel customers. Can't really fault them; it's just business. I could be wrong, just my two cents.

    • +3

looks like Arctel is unable to handle the influx of customers…even though rep seems to have gone AWOL, I can see them answering questions to other people, always sidestepping how we can get this deal in Oct….my guess - they have more customers than anticipated and must be rethinking their business model and whether they have left money on the table by offering this deal when they could potentially be getting more $$ by increasing the cost after 14th

don't believe there is any cooling off period for NBN connections, so refunds is out of the question…but who knows, maybe people can cancel service before it is activated

      • That makes sense. And interestingly enough, if they're unable to handle the influx they should stop offering the $50 plan. It seems like the more people sign up, the more of a loss they're making at this point (if they are really losing money and this wasn't planned that is)

  • +3

    Ordered today at 9:15AM
    Activated at 12:20PM

Speedtest showing 1gbps down / 52 up. Seamless churn from Leaptel.
Props to Leaptel for their solid service / no 30 day cancellation BS.. and issuing pro-rata refunds. I'll likely hop back once this deal's over.

So far so good with Arctel!

    • I am pretty happy with leaptel as well and therefore thinking about it. A few dollar extra in the pocket will really help

  • +3

I signed up yesterday, ported from Leaptel. So far so good.

I provided my AVC, therefore no changes were required to my Asus router. I did perform a reboot of both the router and NBN NTD.

    Please Note:

    Modem Setup Checklist -

    1. Router configuration is set to DHCP / Automatic / Dynamic IP on the WAN / Internet Port.

    2. You have enabled the 5Ghz option for Wi-Fi for optimal performance.

    3. In the case of FTTP, where you have not provided an AVC, your service has provisioned on the next available port - example if existing service is on Port 1, your ARCTEL service has been setup on Port 2.

For more information around modem setup, please click here https://arctel.com.au/byo-modem-nbn-setup-guide/

If you have any questions about your new nbn service, feel free to reach out to our friendly support team.

  • Ordered with a connection date for today.
Old service from buddy was disconnected at 2am with an email from Arctel to supply AVC.
Sent this through and got a response saying it was incorrect. Sent through a copy of the last bill confirming it was correct and heard nothing back.

Called customer service today and was told they are working through a backlog

    • Could you update when you've been connected? thanks

    • Hopefully all sorted, otherwise DM with a ticket reference / order ID & happy to try escalate.

      • Ended up needing to call tech support.
Seems to be a problem with coming from buddy with 1000/50 connection.
They needed to move me onto a different port on 250/50 temporarily.

My Experience: Exetel → Arctel Changeover (Perth)

    Setup Details:
    - Changed from Exetel today
    - Scheduled changeover with AVC provided to Arctel on initial signup
    - Total downtime: ~5 minutes
    - Network gear: TP-Link Deco S7 (3 units in mesh, WiFi 5)
    - Testing device: iPad Pro at main AP, ~2m distance

    Speed Test Results:

Server/Location Provider Ping (ms) Download (Mbps) Upload (Mbps)
    Sydney Aussie Broadband 54 634.24 47.17
    Melbourne Aussie Broadband 66 617.64 47.13
    Perth Aussie Broadband 100 618.36 46.77
    Singapore Singtel 146 177.77 45.25
    San Francisco, CA Comcast 198 124.14 43.74

    Overall Experience:
Seamless changeover from Exetel. Speeds are excellent and likely limited by my WiFi 5 mesh setup rather than the connection itself. Don't have ethernet devices to test wired speeds unfortunately. Pings don't bother me as I don't game, and haven't noticed any delays in day-to-day browsing.

Very impressed overall - happy with the service for $50/month.

    • Did you happen to know Syd, Mel pings when with Exetel?

  • +1

I thought you could schedule up to 30 days. It only allows for 7 days. I wanted to churn in a couple weeks and still take advantage of this offer

    • +1

I think they must have changed it recently, my brother was able to set his 30 days later on the 6th, but when I signed up on the 9th I could only do 7 days.

    • oops was planning to switch at end of month, now have to find another deal

  • +1

Anyone elses internet out ? They also aren't answering their usual tech line…

  • +1

Signed up yesterday at 1pm, but I gave an out-of-date AVC on the on-line form (I didn't realise they change when you switch ISPs) and the switch didn't happen.

I called today to try to fix it and they answered within 10s after a short navigation menu. The person on the phone told me to e-mail support, so I did, and had a response to that within 45 minutes to say that they had passed on the correct AVC to the team, and less than an hour after that the switch happened with less than two minutes of downtime.

Very impressed with Arctel so far, given how well they handled my error on the form.

    • What option did you use to talk to them?

I missed to provide AVC, sent them email but no response. When I try to ring them, it goes to voice message.
