    • LOL, came here to post just that and wondered if anyone had beat me.

  • +4

But is it just the price, or is it really an OzBargain?

    • +3

I dunno it gets kinda philosophical, if they made it $69,980 but 50% OFF SALE!!!! Now $34,990!!! Would it be a deal just because of a fake discount that every other industry does now?

My measure is the final price notably/historically good? That is all that matters. If this is cheap/good value for a new SUV with good features then yes it is a deal.

    • I’d say “FranceBargain” but it’s really Romanian

  • +6

NEW RENAULT DUSTER IS A DISTINCTIVE SUV THAT OFFERS A UNIQUE OFF-ROAD EXPERIENCE.

    🤔

    DUSTER EVOLUTION 4X2 FEATURES

Well, that would certainly be a unique experience 😭

  • +1

    Duster…what a name…

    • +5

Next one will be the Dacia Chalk, followed by the all new Dacia Blackboard.

    • +2

There was a Plymouth Duster in the early 70's. https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=b2c6ee92b0af8145&sxsrf…

      • -1

yep… certain folks did not like how it used an american muscle car name

in fact they made a show about it

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duster_(TV_series)

      • The same car masqueraded as a Dodge in Married with Children.

  • +2

    Dacia

  • It will be left in the dust by the competition.

  • will be dusted in an year, its the cheapest in the European market and for a reason

  • They throw in a free feather duster

The Renault Disaster coming to a garage near you

  • +3

It's got a lot of well thought-out features at a great price and comparable to the Chinese and KGM.

I wouldn't buy it though because of the dual clutch and because it's a Renault (finicky vehicles that lack support in Australia - I've owned one).

  • "Renault don't make cars, we create cars"

  • 😂 You have the Duster and the Suzuki Fronx..
Some of the names are comical.

  • I thought they were placing it up against the Jimny?

  • -3

i'm almost a million percent sure these cars use the wet oiled belt engines that are shit in everything and also in ford rangers??

    • +2

Well you'd be a million percent wrong because the 2WD has the 1.3 turbo also found in the current Mercedes and Nissan lineups, and the AWD a 1.2 3cyl introduced only 3 years ago. Both use timing chains - Peugeot was the one using wet timing belts years ago.

      • +3

        They did say almost.

        • +4

I think almost a million percent is still 100%

      • Ford also use wet timing belts and they are also a complete disaster.

  • Apparantly they're selling out of this model

    • Then they should have made more than 8.

  • -3

Don't be fooled by the Renault name - this is actually a Dacia, which is the low cost budget brand division of Renault. Imagine if Audi badged a VW Polo as an Audi Polo and tried to ask Audi money for it.

    • +5

That's interesting as the VW Polo was originally a rebadged Audi 50

    • +3

      You mean like an A1?

    • +1

Renaults are normal cars to your everyday Frenchman, so are Peugeots. As are VWs to Germans. They're not comparable to Audi. Dacia sits below Renault as a budget brand, VW doesn't really have an equivalent offering.

If anything, this Dacia would be more trusty because they get the chassis, parts and switchgear from Renault products after they've already been used and refined for a few years.

    • Oh no! Anyway, last week…

It's crazy that to sell a car these days, all that is mentioned is carplay, wireless charging, usbc ports, display size and alloys.

Not much about the actual car like the engine, suspension, how it drives etc.

    • +5

      Android 15 fixes the suspension

      • its because in the class people have no idea what is going on with the engine and dont have any idea how suspension works nor do they care how a car drives but they need to charge their phones

    • Look at the Youtubers reviewing cars. No idea of anything on the underbody or quality and brand of components. Anyone watching their stupidity just end up going by what they talk about. Which is usually how comfy their bums are in the interior.

  • And if you put a deposit down before the the end of the month, the very nice salesman will even ask his Manager to see if they can throw in a pack of chalks for free.

    • Name checks out

  • +3

    It isnt a bad deal

    Thanks OP

  • That giant phone holder on the dash will be great for viewing OzB on the run.

The new Renault Duster in Australia comes with a 5-year unlimited kilometre warranty that transfers with the vehicle to a new owner.

that might not be such a good thing when 7-10 is common these days

  • -1

    These are everywhere in Europe

    Nice cars for the money

Wouldn't own one in australia though
It would fall apart in two seconds

    • +1

one might ask how long renault are committed to this place and how long theyre around

    • Why would it fall apart?

      • -1

        it wouldnt fall apart

they sell these things in russia and south africa and other shitholes

i just dont believe ateco at anything

      • Anything euro is built to survive European conditions, not Australian. Plastics all through the engine bay that get brittle fast.

French are good at 4 things: cheese, wine, rioting and surrendering.

Making reliable cars is not one of them

Having said that I'd buy one before I buy a vw, Audi, BMW or a Mercedes

        • Oddly I see old VW campers that disprove your theory.
This 'Australian conditions' you mention is a con simply to get people to service their cars more regularly. Go live in Spain temp varies from +47c to -35c, roads in many areas are poor. Had a 14 year old Citroen when I was in the UK, never gave me an issue for the 40 off thousand miles I drove it after I bought it used.
Engine bay in the Duster looks very much like any other modern car, not sure where you get your information from?

  • always a stinky small engine

Duster vs. Landcrusier Why expensive SUVs are pointless! CARWOW

Fun little video …. but this is the 4x4 one…

    • +1

It wasnt the LandCruiser. Hate that they kept referring to the Prado as a LandCruiser. The difference in 4wd quality between the Prado and the LandCruiser is quite apparent.
Anyway if you plan on doing proper 4wd there's no way you would consider the Renault.
