So When Is The nbn FTTP Speed Upgrade Kicking in?

I'm with "More" through Commbank Yello rewards on a 250/50 plan and just ran a speed test expecting to see 750 down this morning but haven't seen a speed boost yet. Is this going to be rolled out in stages or has someone at NBN co just not pushed the big red speed boost button yet?

Edit after checking their (More's) website: Delays expected for nbn®orders
nbn® system enhancements are scheduled for 13/09/2025-15/09/2025. Orders will resume once the upgrade is complete.

With arctel hfc. Its kicked in already for me

  • +1

On Superloop HFC here. It has kicked in for me

  • 6pm today

  • +3

If you aren't noticing any speed boost yet, try to restart your router. Otherwise you may just have to wait

    • +1

I restarted my NBN box and router, speed increased from 100 to ~450Mbps immediately

  • +3

Superloop upgraded today from 1000/50 to 1000/100. But no updates on website or new 2000Mb plan prices

  • I'm on 100/20 plan, ran a speed test and my download speed is 106. Not what I was expecting, could it be my modem holding me back?

    • +1

Probably because your speed hasn't been upgraded yet. I'm with Optus and they claim that they're starting to upgrade customers from the 15th of September.

      • +2

Leaptel said early hours of 14th September.

I'm consistently getting 102-106 on speed tests which is better than before but I guess I was expecting closer to 500.

      • i got that email, and got a speed bump i wasn't expecting, i was expecting to get nothing, like, the plan retiring but got 250/80 from 100/40.

I'd looked previously and it said 100/20 got a bump but not 100/40

*edit, speed bump doesn't appear to have kicked in yet either. Optus Email mentions, "a over a few weeks"

    • +2

I'm on 100/20 with Spintel and just ran a speed test for a whopping download speed of 36..

Maybe to go fast they must first go slow?

  • Im on More and it has kicked in within the last hour.

    • +1

Do you get email or something to nofity that effect?

      • No just checked once I read this post then again a bit later and it had been upgraded.

    • Did you have to restart router to take effect?

      • +1

        No.

  • +1

Lol just ran test im still on my old plan.
    45.6 down
    16.9 up
Yes im on 50/20 so jelaous with the above posters

    • 50/20 isn’t getting a speed boost is it?

  • +1

Superloop FTTP here. No upgrade yet.

    • Same on Superloop HFC. Account also still says 250/25 so not sure if that's supposed to have changed by now too.

    • My speed has been updated now.

  • +1

    yesterday night superloop

  • +1

I’m with More and it was live when I checked around 8am. It’s only an upload speed change for me tho, on 1000/100 now. No email notification, no router restart required.

    • for 1000mbps you only get 50 to 100 Mbps upload upgrade
      no download upgrade

      • Yeah I know, sorry if that wasn’t clear. I was saying it more out of disappointment. Although they’ve kinda got to force people to pay more for 2gbps otherwise there’d be loads of people wanting a free NTD upgrade.

  • +1

On AGL in Melbourne and it’s already kicked in

  • Exetel HFC Melbourne, still 107/19 which is normal here. Guess they are doing it in chunks until 6pm.

  • No change on Leaptel yet. Just restarted my router, no luck.

    • +1

Change has been applied after kicking my connection via the Leaptel Portal.
Testing with Ookla was 106/19 last night, and now 505/46.

      • Just tried this, it's going faster now but only max 170/46 and I'm standing right next to the modem.

Edit now 210, maybe it will catch up at some point.

  • +5

I am with more and can confirm only upload speed has been changed.

  • Exetel Melbourne 533/48. Happened while surfing, no interruption or reboot needed.

  • With Superloop, got the upgrade from 100/20 to 500/40, no router restart needed. Didn't have it at 8:30 this morning

  • +1

With More in Perth 6055. 495/48 kicked in about 15 minutes ago. Initially I was just getting the higher upload. Needed to restart the router

  • +1

Also with more HFC in SA, already kicked in 542/42, not sure what time, but initially just getting the higher upload speed, got the higher download speed after restarting router.

  • +1

Got the upload increase around midday today from 19 to 47 but download still at 100 in Sydney

  • Got the speed upgrade in a weird rollout with More in Melbourne SE.

9am, upload had increased to 50, download stayed at 100.

    2.30pm, download went to 500.

    • Are you on hfc? Did you have to restart the ntd?
In SE area as well. Had speed upload increase since 7am this morning. But download still at 100. Have restarted ntd and router but no increase in dL speed

      • FTTP, I didn't do a thing.

  • Am with Moose NBN in SA. No cigar yet.

  • I'm with Aussie FTTP, It says new speed/plan "Scheduled for 2025-09-15" under my account.

    • The plan on my account has been updated to 500/50 from 100/20, but after restarting nbn and router devices, still no speed change from before.

      • +1

My AussieBB HFC upgraded, but I had to speed test it on my Xbox as that's plugged into the ethernet. Comes up close to 500/50.

Both my WIFI and my PC (connected over powerline) seem top out at 100/50. So if you're not having any luck I would try ethernet directly if you haven't already.

I think I'm gonna finally get my house wired properly now. 😋

        • +1

I got the 500/50 speed shortly after I posted around midday! It's such a huge boost!

  • With Superloop and my account shows I've already upgraded to 750Mbps from 250Mbps but speedtest still shows under 250. I tried restarting the router (and making sure I turned off VPN) and it still seems to not be any faster. Anyone else in Melb on Superloop getting upgraded speeds already?

    • 100/20 plan, I was just testing mine, had 60Mbps next to router, saw comments about restarting router so I did, now 230Mbps.

  • Aussie Broadband
    Still only
    * 709 D
    * 46U
    :(

  • I'm on FTTP with more, 100/20, SE Melb.

Upload got to 50 this morning, but download still on 100.

    100/50 at least its something…

  • Still waiting over her at Buddy. Their website has the 500/50 plan rather than the 100/20. Not update on the plan name in my portal though. I guess I will check tomorrow.

  • With more, mine kicked in at 12:01 this morning when I checked.

  • My gigabit looks slower than ever. About 600 right now

    • +4

Probably because of everyone doing a speedtest with their new speed plans

  • Hey folks, I am on FTTP with TPG (100/20 plan) and my speed increase started early Sunday morning, at first I was just getting upload speed increase, I reset the router (Flint 2) and the downloads speed increased after the reset. Speed is good, 540/48Mbps that was taken early morning. It's a bit slower right now, 533/47Mbps.

I also want to add if you are using 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi connection, you may not be able to get the full speed increase across the 2.4Ghz band. You may need to use the 5Ghz band. My test is a wired connection to a pc using a 1000Mbps connection. Even with the Flint 2 I only get 190Mbps on 2.4Ghz.

  • Aussie Broadband, still only 929/43mbit

    • Same here, but a bit higher. Where's my upload Aussie!

  • superloop here

got my 750/50 around 3.30pm ACST

  • Try restaring your modem and router. It worked for me

  • Didn't notice any diff as I was already on 1000/50, I noticed the bump to upload from 50 to 100 after testing.

  • +3

Morenbn here, I had to restart the modem for it to kick in. I noticed upload speed has increased from yesterday

  • More nbn, was on 100/20, now 260/40, south Australia

    Http connection

    • +1

      I suggest https

  • Aussie Broadband no changes here yet. Still on 1000/50

  • Telstra here, nothing has changed yet

  • If anyone is getting less speed than they expect, especially if jumping over 100mbps for the first time, be aware that some cheap routers limit the connection to 100mbps, like the TPLINK I had. Would only negotiate a 100mbps link with the NTD box (green light not orange). Had to upgrade to unlock the fast speeds. Annoying.

    • I wonder if this is the case with me, I'm with Superloop and it seems I've gone up to 500 now, but speed tests showing 100 still. I have an eero router, which should be fine with the speed, but I'm wondering if it's got something to do with my Netgear switcher that is connected to 🤔

      • Check the indicator for the NTD line you’re connected to - orange means it’s connected at 1000mbps, green not. Alternatively you can check your network adapter settings to see what it’s negotiated its speed to be. Mine was stuck at 100mbps due to the cruddy modem router.

  • Just tried another speed test and it's come through for me. Now I just need something to download.

  • Aussie BB ON HFC gigabit, still havent got my upload increase.

  • More NBN has switched over for me with a restart of the modem

  • PSA for those on 100/40 at Aussie Broadband like I was, you have to manually change your plan, which I've just done. Faster speeds and $14 less per month, yes please!

  • Is FBB will also do the speed upgrade to FTTC clients?

    • No only FTTP and HFC. Just apply for the upgrade though…

  • I'm with Superloop in SA. Noticed the speed increase had already kicked in for me when I tested it yesterday morning.

  • oh wtf, this is awesome. I didn't even know about this and just ran speedtest.net, 1000/40 is now 1000/100!

  • It appears that Optus has not yet upgraded the NBN speed for my area. It's still showing 270/20.

  • AussieBB in North Queensland - restarted my router and it kicked in.

  • I’ve spoken with More, and they have confirmed the upgrade process will take around two weeks. To help speed things up, I encourage all users to contact More directly and request that they apply the NBN speed upgrade urgently. The more requests they receive, the faster we’re likely to see progress.

    • +3

yeah the more you swamp support with requests the faster things will go… makes sense…

      • +1

sometimes you raise the pressure and things go faster, yea it makes sense

  • Aussie BB ticked over now to 1000/100

  • Upgrade from 100/20 -> 500/50 started working this morning. FTTP, Moose NBN, SA. If for some reason you didn't want to reboot your router, you can simply disable and re-enable the WAN connection (or re-plug the WAN cable).

  • Does it also apply to business nbn or just residential?

    • Should apply to both.

I can see my max speed has gone up.

      • Thanks

OK, I'll reset the router after hours.

  • +1

More still 108/36 expecting 500/50 (no reboot, just vpn from work)

    • Likewise, just tested now. Dunno if the 40mbps upload is the half-implementation, or if I’ve always had it overclocked vs advertised 20mbps

  • -2

I'm with Leaptel and signed on with their 500/50 service, I contacted them today and they told me I wouldn't be receiving the update - pricks.

    • +1

      That is the update..?

  • Superloop here and plan shows as 1000/100 now. Have yet to do a speedtest though.

  • Update on Buddy. My plan was updated to 500/50 this morning but speed remained the same. Checked again now - DL has been upgrade but UL is still 20mbps.

  • +1

Aussie BB HFC user (1000/50) here, I had to power cycle both my NTU & own router for the new upload speed (100 up) to kick in.

  • I'm with Superloop - FTTP 500/50, the new speed kicked in last night after 6 PM.

  • Received an email from Tangerine saying upgraded. Meant to be on 500/50. Upload has doubled to about 44 mbps but download is still around 85 mpbs.

  • Aussie Broadband: had to go into my account and change the plan manually. Was on 100/40, now on 250/100 with no change in monthly price.

People with older iPhones / iPads, you might see a max download speed of 100mbps because of their Wi-Fi NIC bottleneck, even though the theoretical speed is like 800.

My 2nd gen iPad pro only gets 100mbps download, but my PC on the same wifi now gets 260mbps

  • More Internet here. Rebooted the NBN modem around midday today to get the higher speeds. All ok now. 500/40 is sweet as. Ookla tested as 540/47.

  • Is this upgrade thing for fttp and above only? Not for fttn?

  • Aussie Broadband 250/25 (750/50) and still no upgrade as of yet. I've reset my NTD/Router several times in hopes that the new speeds kick in but not yet.
