    Just got off with customer support after I got the hair dryer today.

    They wouldn't price match with the black GPU as they said the price difference was too much. But they did say that new stock should be in within 24-48hrs and I would be notified and sent a replacement.

    • Wonder if it's just CS agents far too detached from what's happening here.

    Mine was "delivered" today. But it never came to my home. Upon checking the delivery photo, it was someone else's house. So I never received anything. Got the refund from Amazon straight away. I am tired of the whole saga and may be high end of gaming is not for me. Always had to settles for low-mid range. This was my first big ticket GPU close to the top end with AMD universe. Oh well.

    • Would be the ultimate tragedy if this was an actual gpu that was sent to someone else

    • I mean a 9070xt will come down near this price in future and performance is better when factoring in fsr4..it's already pretty close to this price

  • Received my smart hair dryer today. Customer service offered full refund, no other options (apparently).

  • Mine still haven't shipped yet, ordered pretty early

    • From the sounds of it, best to cancel the order to avoid any hassles

    • If you haven't been charged yet, cancel it ASAP. If you have been charged and the order progress hasn't changed, it means it's in the packing and shipping phase, nothing can be done.

        • Same as mine. I complained about it to CS a couple of times, they just keep giving me Amazon credit, and say that the return will be free.

            • @RichardF89: Just what's been going on here. Say something like: I'd like to cancel this, because people have been receiving the wrong item etc. etc.

              They given me $30 credit in total so far, just from whinging.

              Jump on customer support and exhaust the prompts 'til you get a representative. Mine said it won't allow them to cancel because it's too close. or in the next phase, even though my side is still showing "ordered".

        But have to say I did not have the chance to choose it. I just ask her to find similar model and if not choose 5070ti or 9070xt. The agent chose it not me.

    For those whose orders have not yet been shipped or are still in transit, I wanted to share that my order for the black version (priced at $1800) weighs 2.7KG according to https://parcelsapp.com/en/tracking/. If your parcel weighs less than 2 KG, it is definitely a hairdryer.

      Mine got denied the price difference request.
      What an absolute shitshow from Amazon, currently in the chat and requeting to chat with the supervisor, and when the supervisor connected, chat has been paused due to inactivity and now it's saying getting help…

      • I think those that got it and returned it early were able to finesse a little bit. Now that everyone's trying to do it here and in the US, they've clocked what's going on.

          Clocked on to the fact they sold a GPU and delivered a hairdryer. Isn't unreasonable to expect Amazon US to not scam you.

            @Aureus: I get what you're saying, I'm bummed about it too! However, people have essentially been trying to exchange a hairdryer for a 5080 (or similar) instead of a flat out refund.

            Get it how you can, I'm all for bucking the system, but there's some serious bouts of entitlement that's come out of all of this… it happens, life goes on.

  • So I chatted with support and asked what my item's weight is, and they said it is 1.6 kg, which is almost the same as the real one. According to this video at 2:40, the GPU weighs 1.5 kg.

    So hopefully the ones who haven't received their GPU will receive the correct one.

    • That’s what Livechat told me from their system showed a shipping weight of 1.65kg, but when the package arrived, it only contained a hairdryer, as I’ve linked in the comments. I have returned it and waiting on the refund to bounce back. however I was able to get a store credit to make another purchase for another GPU to offset the costs of my original purchase for the hassle and delay.

      • How much store credit did you get for it?

        • I ended up receiving the Sapphire Pure RX 9070 XT as a replacement. They credited me $320 from my original purchase, which was $775.07 for the 7900 XTX under my Amazon Business account. So, essentially, I got the Sapphire Pure RX 9070 XT for $775.07 instead of the 7900 XTX.

          "According to Amazon policy, you are eligible for a price difference refund on your Amazon gift card balance for this item. Once you receive the new one that you reorder, you will need to contact us to issue the refund, and it will be reflected the same day in your Amazon gift card balance."

          However, regarding the statement above, I told Customer Service that I didn’t want to place a new order by paying the full amount upfront again, and then receive a gift card balance of $320 afterward. I asked if they could provide me with store credit or an Amazon gift card balance first, so I could make the purchase immediately, rather than paying the full price upfront and then having to follow up to get the gift card or store credit balance later.

          CS chat gave the green light and was approved by the manager. So what's left now is the refund pending from my original purchase to be processed. Other than that it was good result in the end.

          • @ATB: Thanks for the info i was told it has to be the same card(white) and if its different they will cover up to $100.

            • @Stahh: Often, for cases like this, past purchase history can impact the resolution options. My guess is those with say $5k spent over the last year are more likely to get better options than those who spend <$1k on Amazon products and services per year. Just something to maybe keep in mind for those receiving different responses.

              • @CallumS: Yeah thought so ive spent around 2k in the last 3 months with amzon so would say im a valuable customer it seems it depends on the agent and prob their supervisor telling them to low ball an offer as they kept changing their offer.

            Maybe I should have pushed through the support to get the Amazon gift card balance first. Now I'm out $2.5k+ waiting for the black one to arrive and will need to push through the chat support again once I received the black one to get the price difference refunded

          I ended up just accepting $262.81 of credit and an advanced refund to buy a Sapphire Pulse AMD Radeon™ RX 9070 XT. While I think more could have been an option, I'm happy enough and figured it a reasonably fair card for $836 plus some messing around.

      My order hasnt arrived yet (expected 11 october). Agent i spoke to on live chat confirmed thst they will do a price difference with the black 7900 xtx power color hell hound if i receive the hair dryer. Might request a rtx 5070 ti.

      • If I have my time again. I'll take the price difference with black 7900 xtx. You get $950+ in refund and you can easily sell 7900 xtx for $900+. With that money you can buy 5080 and still have change.

    Got a hairdryer.
    Contacted amazon support. Got no as an answer for anything more than a full refund + 10% cash. I repeatedly tried them, escalating to managers as needed. Eventually got a manager who wanted to get rid of their headache (me). They credited 50% of the difference between this deal and the last Asus 5080 Prime from Amazon AU as a gift card immediately, and are going to return the other 50% on delivery of the GPU once it arrives.

    Tempted to try and get the 10% extra refund on the Hairdryer once I return it as well, but feel I may well be pushing my luck.

    I'm very likely to try and just sell the ASUS Prime 5080 and use the money to buy some white 5080 as I have an all white build.

      Im going to try the same thing if i receive the hair dryer. I have chat records of all support agents reassuring me that I will receive a gpu and that delivery gets checked at each stage of the shipping process.

      Oh ASUS Prime 5080, what a dream card you got, basically the best option for a SFF build. Just forget about the 10% extra refund, you already got the biggest win.

      • Yours is as good a deal too. Once you get the price difference and sell the 7900xtx, you can easily buy a 5080.

        Im afraid you need a bit of persistence and the gift of the gab. Escalate to supervisor once grunt exhausts their limited options.

  • I had no luck even after trying to escalate the issue. They told me to contact them after the 3rd to ask for a refund if the card does not arrive. The agent clearly could not understand that I did not order a hair dryer, the packing slip also says GPU , but that there was a hair dryer in the box.

    Very frustrating - the agent was pretty much completely unhelpful and basically just emailed me a shipping label. He also made a stupid comment about "trust us your money is safe with us" and I can ask for a refund later, but need to return the item now. Have only had to send a small $15 broken item back once with Amazon so don't ever return anything, but man this was bad experience.

    I feel bad for the people that recieved the incorrect item and this has happened in the past for me as well.
    I am hopeful there is still a chance as my order shipped an hour ago today, was placed on 17th around 6:30pm AEST.
    It has been a rollercoaster of emotions and I guess time will tell.

    • Unfortunately, there hasn't been a single report yet of anyone getting the GPU. Our only hope is to just keep complaining to customer support to hopefully get a replacement GPU of similar or better performance.

    Amazon has offered to give me a cash refund of the difference between the 7900XTX and a 9070XT - so a good result and effectively $330 off.

    Just want to wait for the refund first - Auspost is showing that they delivered the hairdryer back to amazon so hopefully I’ll get that refund soon!

    • Was the 9070XT your idea as comparable or theirs?

      • Mine - when I brought up an alternative on Monday they were very hard-pressed against it and wanted me to buy the $1800 card instead and get Amazon credit for the difference, so I didn't dilly dally around this time and brought it up as a direct replacement with a cash refund instead.

        I thought asking for the difference on a 5070 Ti would be pushing my luck a bit so didn't try that.

  • They're using fake tracking. I have 2 parcels on the way and both transfering to another carrier for delivery on both 7:00pm but different days. These hairdryers might be shipped from China

          As far as I know, these were shipped by Amazon US, so highly unlikely they got shipped from China.

          Also, buyers in US started receiving their hair dryers on 18th September. Just 1 day after buying from the listing after it was posted on their bargain website. You don't get next day delivery from China.

    After being on chat support with 2 people

    The first cutting me off after giving a return slip. and the second support person telling me they can't offer a replacement or equivalent as it was sold internationally even after i iterated that other customers with the exact same issue as I in the same country have in fact been offered other gpus and credit as an option.
    Offering me nothing more than a refund upon return and a $10 promotional credit. I told them the matter is unresolved as i'm not happy with the outcome and i have other appointments. I'll continue it another day.

    First service rep told me to order another one and they'll refund the difference which I did.

    Jumped back into support for some dumb reason and they said that's not right, logged a ticket and told me to cancel the order.

    HAHHAAHA I got the hairdryer now 🤣🤣🤣Even though three support staff reassured me that I received a GPU.

    • One of the agents said he will refund me, and of course I said no and I want escalate this to manager but even though I received it already, in their system it still hasn't been delivered yet, so they can't do anything for now, lol.

      Will try again after it's marked delivered.

    • From your previous comment about the package weight, it's already 100% a hairdryer. There's no way you have 1.5kg card and only 0.1kg package box lol. Support staffs can say whatever they want cause they don't bare the responsibility in this case

  • How long does it take for the refund to process? Auspost marked my return as delivered yesterday 2pm and I haven't seen anything from Amazon.

    In the past, all my previous returns have been refunded as soon as Auspost scanned it in - didn't even need to wait for delivery in the past. Must be too many hairdryers to process.

    • Mine was marked delivered back to them at 2PM yesterday too. No update on my Amazon account though.

      • Mine is showing as 'return started' despite Auspost scnning the return.

        • I gave amazon a call. They confirmed they received the return and refund will arrove between 3 - 5 business days. App is still showing "return started"
