    Guess I’m going home

    • Go Bigor go home?

So torn! I may or may not have a 7900XTX coming from amazon…but this seems like a good deal. Anyone wise think prices will drop further in coming months?

    • +1

      buy twice think later?

    • +3

Stick with the XTX for now (assuming you got it from the ~$830 deal), when the Super series drops at the end of the year or early next year you have the option to upgrade to a discounted non-Super or grab a Super with more VRAM - if you feel like you need it.

    • +1

I missed on the XTX and would prefer that instead.

    • +6

Unless you had a very specific reason to get this card, the 7900xtx was a MUCH better choice.

So good, that it was probably a pricing error haha.

      • +3

Im still so skeptical that theyll actually ship it

        • Waiting on my hair dryer

Value wise the 80 class has been plummeting since the 3080 (relative to its 90 class counterpart).

Today's 80 class should have been at best a 70 class card, with a better offering for the 80.

I've been hodl'ing since the release of the 50 series but hearing that the 5080 super isn't getting a boost in cuda cores or memory bandwidth was pretty disappointing so I might just bite the bullet on this..

      • the price of the new cards if they come out would also mess up the entire market for a while, would be a safe bet getting this card at this price point i think.

        • +1

Just realised this probably won't fit in my case 😩
3cm longer than my 3080ftw3 and a cm wider… I think the only option that will fit is the 5080 shadow x3 🤔

          • @DeToxin: ah well, my case can fit up to 335mm max without one case fan, gives me 4mm clearance. close one

      • +2

The 5070 super is going to have more VRAM than this thing. But if you've waited this long, you may as well wait for a node shrink on the 6000 series. Will be pretty marginal gains for the next decade or so after we step down to 3nm.

Check XTX thread, it seems to be a scam.

Can the code be used on any other cards?

    I was eyeing a 5070ti

    • +1

      doesnt look like it unfortunately

    • Me too, centre com still have the cheapest 5070ti's on the market at moment according to Pgrid, there are 2 (PNY at $1,289 and a Zotac at $1,299)

    • Me too. Do you need a new motherboard to use it? I'm wanting to play Borderlands 4. It is an UNREAL game..

  • +1

only if it was sff ready

  • Where /when was the 7900xtx deal? Not finding it in a search

  • +2

damn, why did this have to be 16GB

    • Because $2000 5080 super 20gb may be coming…

    • +2

      Planned obsolescence.

  • +1

Tempted but have a Red Devil 9070xt, so net cost wouldn't be worth it still… but very tempted.

    • +1

Same here, my Hellhound 9070xt seems to be running games at 4k fine (esp with FSR4).

      • Looks like 5070 ti is a step up from that one. Is it worth it? Not much difference and 9070xt is cheaper.

        • 5070ti is about 5-10% better, so if it's 10% more in price then 5070ti is a good option, 9070XT is very good though and mines been a great experience.

  • Is this a result of China banning NV from their tech market?

  • This or used RTX 3090 for AI?

    • used 4090 but it costs $3.5k still..

      • +6

For that price why not just buy 5090?

        • +4

$3.5k will take you a very long way with AI subs, API tokens, cloud GPU renting (if you need to do training). I'm a big AI user myself - but still can't understand why people fork out so much for local LLM setups when cloud is so available and so cheap.

I have an M4 MAX with 64GB, tried running a handful of different models locally with LM Studio - it was cool, but the frontier models at full precision are simply way better, way faster.

          • @kristiantt: Privacy for your AI prompts and outputs is very much invaluable.
Also, you aren’t reliant on someone else providing the services, and you don’t need an internet connection for it.

            • @FujinShu: You can get full enterprise level privacy using AWS Bedrock (e.g if you are using Claude models, the prompts and details don’t go back to Anthropic). Bedrock is how most enterprises are rolling out foundational models across their orgs.

Remember to claim your free copy of Borderlands 4 if you are purchasing this GPU: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/921165

  • Borderlands 4 requirements are going to require us to dish out $ it looks like..

    • +1

Lol even then it doesn't run that game well… The 9070XT is near the 5080 performance because the game is broken (Bitchford optimised) … Server farm full of GPUs has no hope of running this game well.

  • This is why I stopped PC gaming.

  • +1

Thanks OP placed order for one, consider the free Borderlands 4 and the price, makes this a good deal.
PS: I was this close to spend $1400 for a 5070 Ti and already were going to pick one up tomorrow, I know all over the internet it says the performance difference between 5080 and 5070 Ti just isn’t big enough but when the price gap this small I am more than happy to get this instead.
