      • Some ISPs have minimum cancellation notice periods which are practically a cancellation fee.

  • Ultrafast 1000/100 for $105pm not too bad with this deal.

    • After 6 months it then jumps from $105pm to $129 :-(

Others are doing it for around $105 on-going.

      https://www.neptune.net.au/
      https://www.buddytelco.com.au/ (static IP $5pm)

      • +1

And other telcos are doing 500/50 for a lot less. This deal is only good for the first 1 month, then cancel.

    • 89 AUD with Superloop on 1000/100 FTTP

    • I'm paying 69 a month for ultra fast with telstra for 3 months atm

  • Is the symbol next to NBN PLAN on the poster two plus signs, a crucifix with an extra crossbar, or a hashtag missing a line?

    • +7

It's a railroad track. Just don't forget to get off the train at the 1 Month Station.

  • Does anyone know if the Telstra employee discount can be used on top of this offer?

    • JB/TGG plans are no longer eligible for a staff discount.

      • what about asking for a bundle discount ? i have an existing Telstra home phone line i used to be able to hit them up for $10 discount via the chat , does anyone know if thats still possible?

  • +4

Even at the honeymoon rate the Telstra NBN plan is $10 per month more expensive than it needs to be, so definitely cancel after the first month unless you want to see any financial gain from the deal being eaten up.

  • +4

does it run a credit check and impact credit score?

    • I would think no if it's prepaid. But then again it is Telstra so would not be surprised either way with the signup flow.

    • +1

I think it triggers a credit score

  • I am with leaptel using tp link ax 5400 set to dynamic. Will telstra work on that setting for the router or will I have to change it from dynamic to something else?
    T

    • Leave it on Dynamic IP.

  • Does anyone know how this would work if you’re already with Telstra?

    • You're not a new customer then. No deal for you.

    • +1

yes worked for us with fttp. just asked staff at jb hi fi during sign up not to churn another provider on unid port 1 and to just add on service to different port so now activated unid port 2 but in wifes name.

  • Can you schedule a future start date?

    • +2

Yes, I think I could choose a month or so in the future

  • so we can cancel after 1 month and still retain the benefits?

    • +1

That’s the question on everyone’s mind here

      • The sign says you get the benefits when you switch to the plan, and the minimum plan cost is $95 — so not sure why this would be in doubt.

        • Minimum plan cost applies to Telstra NBN, JB GC and Ring could have different terms.

          • @lightfoot: I'm just reading the words on the sign. Receiving the GC and Ring 'When you switch to [the plan]' combined with 'Minimum plan cost $95' means you should receive all benefits without spending more than $95, unless the sign is wrong.

            • @Ozybargdias: Yes, I read it too. But just wondering if they'd have another fine print elsewhere that you need to accept. Or will they need to adhere to what's on the sign itself? e.g. if they don't exclusively mention that the Ring should be returned if cancelled early?

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

              • @lightfoot: I just went to JB and was offered the Ring and GC on the spot after signing on to the plan (with start date scheduled for 23 October). Didn't ask them about early cancellation, but I'll have already sold the Ring and spent the GC by the time I cancel the plan in December.

Not worth their hassle to try and get anything back at that point, even if they say they're entitled to under some secret T&Cs that weren't shared with the customer at the time of sale.

    • +2

Yes. I did it on the $1 plan previously when JB was offering $100 gc

  • Damn just signed up for iinet fttb offer. I'm guessing there's no chance of having both this offer to churn in 1 month and keeping the FTTB on the same place right?

    • +2

      FTTB… Fibre to the Boat?

      • +1

        Fibre to the basement

      • Fibre to the Building

  • Damn I
I got 3 months free fro optus after I complained about free flubuys offer where the CS signed me up without the flybuys offer.
As they couldn't add flybuy points optus offterd 3 months of free service.
It is still on second month.Otherwise I would have signed up for this offer.

  • I live in an apartment, anyone know if this will work for FTTB?

  • Anyone know if it’ll be possible to just return the camera? I know in the past with “free Pixel 9” or whatever it was possible but hit or miss.

    • Likely not. Flog it on gumtree.

    • Always wondered this too, in the past they’ve used a “gift card” to pay for the free item so wonder if they’d give you a gift card back if you returned it?

      • Probably but it might be tied to the bundle based on parked sale receipt. YMMV.

  • I'm currently on more NBN and own the eero routers. Does anyone know if I can use eero instead of Telstra modem?

    • +2

      Yes

    • +2

Yes you prob won’t even notice the change over

  • +1

Question, I'm with Superloop and just started my next billing month, Will I effectively lose a month if I change or will I get back some money from Superloop as I'm only 3 days in?

    • +1

Yeah probably. But you'll end up on top with this deal and GC though. Worth it!

    • any one know if you can get it start at a specific date?

      • Yes you can set future churn date.

    • +1

You should be able to tell them what date you want then new service to go active upon signup.

    • +3

You need a 30 days cancel notice for Superloop. If you change it now you will lose 2 months. They don't provide pro rata refund.

      • +1

Telstra is being set up from the 15th of October and Superloop is disconnecting on the 24th so not to bad, only costing about $30 extra.

  • I've cancelled my Superloop service and it's due to be cancelled on 21/10, anyone knows of how delayed activation works with the gift card? The Good Guys have the same promotion.

    • +1

I got a call to pick up my gift card when my service was activated, last time.

  • Has anyone tried this instore ? How soon can you get the goodies ? Good deal if it there and then if not amaysim $40 deal is better for 2 months till we have something for Black Friday.

    • +1

      Got it immediately.

      • Thanks for that. I will head in tomorrow.

  • -1

even with the free door bell its to expensive, why are so many people still using the big telcos for internet? Telstra Optus and vodafone are sh!7

  • I'm with superloop at the moment. Can I schedule an activation date (30 days cancel notice with superloop)?

    • Yes

    • Yep I did. Mines pencilled in for 12/10. I'll grab this for one month before moving to someone decent

      • Samesies where you headed? I might do Leaptel NBN2000 for new NTD

  • +5

Just came back from JB to sign up onto this plan. I have started the cancellation process with Superloop, so this was great timing to switch to while I am serving out the 30 day notice period.

Just to help answer a few questions:

    • You can schedule the service start date, which I needed per Superloop's notice period.
    • I got the gift card now - I have it in my hand as I write this. YMMV based on some people's experiences.
    • You can opt out to not receive the Telstra Smart Modem, but cannot for the Ring Video Doorbell.

    Thanks for the deal!

    • Does the contract stipulate that there are no minimum period or any cancellation fees to be paid if you cancel after one month?

      • +1

I did ask them if there was any ETC, but that wouldn't be applicable given it's a month-to-month plan as the plan is basically what is on the Telstra website, and says minimum term is 1 month.

There weren't any JB specific T&Cs apart from the gift card terms.

I plan on cancelling just before I get billed for another month.

    • How is the ring doorbell processed? Do you have a receipt saying it was paid for with a gift card?

      • +1

The store I was at ran out of stock, so they put in a backorder for it

They tried to update it in their system to process the $200 GC + Ring Video Doorbell out but was getting errors, so they just overrode the order with a gift card.

I do have a receipt for that transaction. Sadly they couldn't give me that gift card lol. I can share the receipt when I have some time.

        • +1

I just signed up. Ring is processed as GC that is issued and must be redeemed against the Ring. Same as other bundle deals with JB in the past.

$200 GC in hand. Ring in hand. Future churn to Telstra. Happy days.

          • @FerreroRocher: So could be a case of YMMV for returning it onto a gift card?

            • +1

@Winny182: Yes I think so. I am willing to risk it later. Otherwise flog it on Gumtree/Marketplace.

    • I just signed up as well with future date.
Got Gift card in hand but ring doorbell as back order. They generated $149 gift card and processed it for ring doorbell order

You can however choose to opt out for Ring doorbell. They have an option in their system to specify just $200 gift card and not Ring Doorbell. But why would you? If you don't need it, you can always sell it

      • is future date max 30days?
wonder if this deal will be out of stock if sign at last day…

        • It could be 30 days. The latest date was coming as 24th October when I ordered on 24th September.
What do you mean out of stock, the deal is based on GC. If the run doorbell is out of stock, it can be back- ordered there and then.

They can either mark it to be installed ASAP or future date, but couldn't give any guarantee that it will be switched in the next 2 days or not. So don't wait till the end of your current billing cycle.

  • If I’m on some sorta $109 nbn Telstra plan at the moment, can I sign up for this?

    Just checked my Telstra app:
    Connection HFC
    Standard Plus Evening Speed

Tragic $109 plan which has gradually gone up over the last 6 years. But it just works.

Will hand in my ozbargain license

    • No. You're a current customer.

      • Thanks

  • +1

Thanks OP. Signed up no problems. Ring supplied to me and can set future churn date. Can also opt not to receive modem. GC issued no problem.

If they have no Ring stock it can be backordered.

    • What’s the longest future churn date you can do?

    • Did you have to provide ID to sign up?
There's a current FTTP connection on port 1 at my folks house, but under someone else's name. Can I still port that over?

      • +1

Yes ID is needed. AVC/invoice needed from ISP.

      • yes ask for a add on service if you have fttp so that they active unid port 2. we even did our 2 different addresses vice versa. any one try activating more than 2 services on fttp at same address and get this offer? in theory NTD can have 4 active ports

  • Any chance 5g Broadband included? (Telstra only offers 5g at my FTTB address.)

  • -3

Not gonna neg but you couldn't pay me enough to go on Telstra nbn. Painful to get anyone to help you in a timely manner when you have a problem

    • +2

Pretty sure folks here who jump on this (including myself) is in for the GC and Ring. Otherwise we'd all hop on other recommended providers.

      • Try to return Ring camera unopened. Should get $149 GC issued as they used redemption GC against it to give it out. YMMV.

        • Wait you can do that? I was about to post it for sale for $80 😅

          • @zacsg1: Try to do it. And let me know if it works, so I can do it.

            • +1

@FerreroRocher: I'll not be going near a JB for a few days now so hopefully someone else can try for us.

              • @zacsg1: I will ask next week. If they say no I'll just flog it elsewhere. Don't need Ring. Just wanted JB GC.

        • Would they take a return on non-faulty "gift with purchase" item like that?

          • +1

@Ryven: If they are smart, no.
If they are dumb, yes. I am hoping they are dumb.

  • +1

Thanks for the deal. Good timing to cancel my Optus NBN!

  • +1

Am with SL, maybe time to give my 30days notice

  • +2

Just noticed ring doorbells flooding the fb marketplace. Word travels fast I guess 😂

  • +2

Thanks OP. Signed up too but my local JB will only issue GC and doorbell when my connection date is activated - so I’ll have to come back and collect it later

No issues in terms of “new customers” either as I did the $1 pan recently a few months ago too
