A quick summary/specs list of each item below. I don't know much about phones in general as I'm very outdated in tech but these look great value for money.

Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2 (11" 2.5K 90Hz, 8GB/256GB, Widevine L1, G100 Ultra) - credits to Clear

My wife is holding onto her P30 Pro for dear life. Still works okay but the camera is busted, might be time to get her an upgrade.

  • +4

Finally! Glad to see Xiaomi stepping foot in Australia officially. I think finally the folks at Xiaomi HQ had the brains the realise that third party distribution just doesn't work. Oh boy wasn't Panmi and all other that followed a huge ass disaster. Also really happy to see they are bringing their whole suite of products from powerbanks to screwdrivers and not just the phones. We badly need more competition and variety of products to choose from and hopefully Xiaomi setting up shop in Australia is a great pathway towards that.

    • +1

Yes! Every China trip I go to.. Xiaomi shops are my first visit lol

    • Ironically PBTech seems to be doing fine in NZ, as a Xiaomi authorised distributor and retailer.

  • +2

Oh please please bring the poco series into Aus ! Best bang for buck phone.

  • Which one is better for value, 15t or 15t pro? 1000 I feel it quite expensive

  • How's the camera compare to a pixel 10 pro I can't tell which youtube reviews are shills.

    • See if a site like petapixel has samples. Pixel pro has excellent telephoto if that's what you're after. I use the tele lens more than the others

    • I can't tell which youtube reviews are shills.

none of them? or at least none of the OGs as I don't know the new gen channels. It has been well established that Pixel Pros take great photos every year

  • Havent been in phone market since buying s21 ultra and after looking at some recent reviews isnt oneplus better than xiaomi phones overall?

Asking as oneplus 13 is selling in the same price range and may drop close to this deal amount once one plus 15 is released.

    • OnePlus 13 is leagues ahead of Xiaomi 15T Pro. It's a proper flagship that is comparable to the China-only Xiaomi 15 Pro.

T series has always been mid-range and sub-flagship.

      • But is it…

    Dual Sim? What type?

    Gsmarena says:
    Nano-SIM + Nano-SIM + eSIM + eSIM (max 2 at a time)

Edit: found it, it's the above which is great to see

    • Funnily enough the Chinese versions can't have eSIM.

      • Because Chinese market don't support esim.

        • Think you mean the chinese gov.

          • @vawiyoci: really ?! so those are false advertising?

            https://www.getnomad.app/china-eSIM
            https://www.airalo.com/china-esim

most of the huawei/OPPO phone supported eSIM, so the chinese gov ???

            • @samelight: They are most likely Hong Kong eSIMs with roaming support in China.

Chinese domestic phones never had eSIMs before the iPhone Air. Chinese phones do have eSIMs, but only for model sold globally, outside of China.

              • @nguyenlucky: Not sure about the roaming,
but HarmonyOS always got eSIM enabled not just the global version,

                https://consumer.huawei.com/cn/support/content/zh-cn15818775…
                https://www.honor.com/cn/support/content/zh-cn15846632/

those are the eSIM apply and setup guaid for Huawei and honer phone and smartwatch, .cn pages not for HongKong or global.

              • @nguyenlucky: https://support.apple.com/en-au/101569?choose-a-country-or-r…

also in apple's website, China mainland telecom do support esim.

                • @samelight:

                  1. Honor and Huawei are showing the eSIM dual terminal method for watches only. Their domestic phones never support eSIM due to regulations.

                  2. non-Air Chinese iPhones never support eSIMs either. Air is the first Chinese iPhone (and first Chinese domestic phone) with eSIM support. Chinese iPhone Air cannot add non-Chinese eSIMs while physicially in China, and foreign Airs cannot add Chinese eSIMs in any circumstances. This is a major compromise imposed by the Great Firewall. Source: https://support.apple.com/en-us/123879

                  https://www.apple.com.cn/iphone-17-pro/specs/
If you look here, you can see the Chinese 17 Pros indeed don't have eSIM

                  SIM card
                  Dual SIM (nano‑SIM)

                  • @nguyenlucky: I'm confused,
                    when you say

Air is the first Chinese iPhone (and first Chinese domestic phone) with eSIM support. Chinese iPhone Air cannot add non-Chinese eSIMs while physicially in China, and foreign Airs cannot add Chinese eSIMs in any circumstances.

You are telling me the Chinese eSIM do exist, you just can't use it interactively with the global one, it just sounded like a roaming issue to me.
If the Chinese eSIMs do exist like you just said, then it's hard to believe no phone supporting it.

                    • @samelight: Chinese eSIMs are banned on phones until the recently announced Chinese iPhone Air (but with heavy restrictions). I have been talking about eSIMs on Chinese domestic PHONES specifically. Chinese iPad Pro M4 also has eSIM, but it's not a phone.

Find a Chinese domestic phone with eSIM capability (beside the Air) then.

I never said Chinese eSIMs don't exist. They just don't exist on domestic phones until the Air.

  • how does this compares to Xiaomi 17 pro max?

  • Xiaomi 15T pro or Oneplus 13r/13T

  • +3

It maybe a great phone but low re-sell value in a year. Samsung / Apple tends to have better re-sell value and you can also trade-in. Samsung/Apple/JB/Officeworks won't take Xiaomi as trade-in (at least not yet).

    • +3

When you are buying the Xiaomi phones you usually aren't looking for resale value. You get great phones at reasonable prices that last a long time.

      • Yeah you're getting the better resale value after already paying a ~$1k premium during the initial purchase.

    • +3

where do I buy MAGA phone?

      • +7

MAGA phone is actually made in china.

      • +1

        Nice try Epstein

  • +2

I thought id never leave apple than s23 ultra happened. The xiaomi 17 pro might be the one to get me off samsung.

Enough of the iterative updates for too much $$$. Give me specs and cool shit, damn it for a decent price.

This is what samsung used to do. Best specs. Latest bluetooth, wifi, screen.. now all the other brands beat it.

    • +1

Samsung hasn't been releasing the top specs for years now. Huawei's cameras were the best until they stopped selling them here. Samsung has excellent software though

  • +1

1.1k for the Xiaomi 15T Pro (which seems comparable to the S24 ultra?) and a Redmi Pad 2 seems pretty good. About the same as Samsung's preorder sale if you managed to get a free Galaxy Watch 5.

  • +1

Malaysia had the preorder order too, cheaper price and they get a watch S4 for free with 15t pro. Wish we had the same deal.
The pad is not the best for my needs

  • how good is this phone's processor?

  • Instead of the 17 Pro Max, I'm curious if they gonna release 17 Ultra later this year

  • +1

Bought a poco x7 pro few months ago same processor as 15t ( Dimensity 8400 Ultra) as a work phone from Amazon only aud 550. Very impress with the quality and speed. Battery life is great and speed is as fast as my iPhone 15 pro max. end up using it all time as it’s a lot lighter and thinner and will never pay apple tax again, only downside is the camera not great. I guess 250 extra you get a better cam but smaller battery. HyperOS 2 is pretty basic though not much customisation but version 3 coming few weeks. Really hope they will release the Xiaomi su7 car here in aus.

    • +1

If you buy the excellent Xiaomi SU7 they should give you their best smartphone, so you can "show off" to iCult users. Ford CEO drives Xiaomi SU7 for 6m & ‘I don’t want to give it up’
      https://www.drive.com.au/news/ford-ceo-drives-chinese-electr…

Weeks before Xiaomi launched SU7, Apple cancelled its 10y EV plans > au$15 billion
“Everyone’s talking about the Apple car … but the Xiaomi SU7 is fantastic – they sell up to 20,000/month, sold out for 6 months,” Ford's CEO Farley said.
He doesn't care for RESALE value when it's so good. Only iPhones are for resale ;)

  • Are they supporting security patches ?

    • +2

4 years of major Android system updates and 6 years of security updates.

  • Do they have the higher storage versions here? The 12gb with 1Tb storage?

  • +1

Those Mediatek chips are going cheap everywhere probably because of all the tariffs with them not being a US company.

  • +2

Spending over 1k on a xiaomi phone is mental. They've lost their value proposition entirely.

Ive used their products for a decade. I'm wearing one now and my house will be cleaned by one later. But that's too much for one of their phones. I stopped buying their phones after the mi9 because if I was willing to spend Samsung flagship prices I'd just buy the real thing.

  • Do we know any details on the warranty and duration?

  • +3

i personally think xiaomi is the best china brand, love their vaccum robots and electric scooter

    • -1

No way! This is just a trash company that copies everything they make. Lenovo and Huawei are like 100x more creative and innovative

      • +2

never tried lenovo and huawei but once i tried xiaomi i cant stop…

      • I believed the whole world relies on the compass, a revolutionary tool originally invented in ancient China.

        any comment?

        • that's a tool, not a brand

      • Thanks for the laugh of the day, even I don't agree this post for the dearer price comparison in china.

  • seems so good, too bad it's Xiaomi. had a Xiaomi phone before and well, the hardware was good, but the software was TERRIBLE

    • -1

With this one it is vice versa.

  • Im actively considering whether to upgrade my s23 ultra to the 15t.. one factor is a tiny crack on my s23 ultra screen and the cost to fix it. I do like the stylus of the s23 but do rarely use it.

  • Sorry maybe I am just overcome by excitement by this deal, but how do I get access to the $100 launch coupon to be provided later on 10/10?

If i understand correctly is it as simple as registering my interest and then wait for the coupon to be emailed to me on 10/10 before I make the purchase?

    • What I read from the earlier post, yes the $100 will be provided at launch and applied during checkout.

Just wonder, in regards to the pre-registration, was it just simply a one-click process for everyone ? doesn't look like any upfront payment is required ?

Did anyone receive any confirmation email (or SMS) to show the pre-registration was successful ?

I didn't receive any confirmation email, but I don’t want to miss out on this deal, so would be good to know how it worked for others.

      Thank you!

    • +1

I think you have to collect the coupon from this page (which will then appear under your coupons and can be applied during checkout).

      https://www.mi.com/au/event/offer-exclusive-deals/

      • I see! Thanks !

      • Yes i saw that after I registered my email. Thanks!

  • +1

I was in China just couple of days ago and saw the 17 pro and 17 pro max. They are really good! I hope they release the global version!

    • And expecting probably $500 dearer

  • +3

Remember, Xiaomi T Pro is never the "flagship" product like some may think. It's a subflagship model with a lot of cost cutting (USB 2.0, worse build quality, etc).

Only Xiaomi 15 and Ultra are their true flagships for the global market. Unfortunately 15 Ultra isn't available yet, unlike our neighbor NZ.

And while Xiaomi 15 is available, its price is atrocious for an already superceded product (1599 AUD). I guess Xiaomi isn't pushing their true flagship model yet to wait for the launch of 17 series globally.

  • +1

i'm a long time xiaomi user, but for anyone that considering this and want to unlock the bootloader and/or root it, just note that it's so incredibly hard to do it as they put a limit on how many can do the unlock request everyday and it resets on 12am china time
I stopped trying to unlock the phone after multiple failed request attempt

  • How good is it, better than Google and Samsung flagship models?

    • +1

the battery will be that's for sure

  • Has anyone bought a mobile physically in China
How much cheaper are they compared to Australia
But, of course - nil warranty cover, as it was bought directly in China.

    • +1

Don't bother with it. You get Chinese domestic apps and no Google. Depending on models, bands will be a problem too.

  • +1

Gsmarena review dropped. Looks great. Battery life a real high point:
    https://m.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_15t_pro-review-2888.php

    • Useful review, though the writing is atrociously edited…

      • Yes I skim through them usually for the data haha

    • Dropped down to 60W from 120W 14T pro

  • Anyone reckon now that they're selling officially in Aus, there'll be better deals (maybe also for the 15 (non T) by Christmas?

    • +1

@I Smell Pennies Hey, I think this might be worth updating the post for, but I was checking out the Xiaomi 15

      https://www.mi.com/au/product/xiaomi-15/buy/?gid=4223720566

and saw a coupon for $500 (valid between 10/10/2025 - 31/10/2025, so same sale as the 15T series), which should bring it down to $1099 - same price as the 15T Pro.

      And I believe 15 > 15T Pro > 15T.

      Although, no additional goodies.

      • +1

You can submit a new deal, the title is already so full lol

      • +1

Good find mate. And great post :)

Yeah as CodeXD said above, my post title is full. And I was more focused on just the 15T version.

      • Really? I thought 15T Pro is the newer model so should be better?

        • +2

Yeah, the naming and stuff confused me as well.

As far as I can tell, 15 is the flagship line, T series is like the midrange 'flagship killer'.

          If you compare the two,
          https://nanoreview.net/en/phone-compare/xiaomi-15t-pro-vs-xi…
          https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=14178&idPhone…

They're quite similar, but the 15T Pro compromises on some things.

copy and paste from a diff comment of mine:

          15T Pro has usb 2.0 while 15 has 3.2.
          15T Pro has 5500mAh while 15 has 5240mAh.
          15T Pro has 5x optical zoom, 15 has 2.6x.
          15T Pro has 12MP ultrawide, 15 has 50MP ultrawide.
15T Pro front camera can record 30fps, 15 can record 60fps.
          15T Pro has 3 mics, 15 has 4 mics.
15T Pro is AMOLED, 15 is LTPO AMOLED.

        • +2

          T: midrange with good camera
          T Pro: sub-flagship all-around, with flagship-grade camera
Number: Actual flagship, not too big, OK camera.
Ultra: Ultra super duper ultimate supremacy

    • Yes they started from 30/09/25, and ripped OZ off with $200 extra price.

  • Was prepared to buy the 15T Pro tomorrow but the deal for the 15 has confused me a little.
I only use my phone for general surfing, watching videos and playing silly games.
Been using the Samsung Note 10+ for the last 6 years and it caters to all my needs. Should the 15T Pro suffice? Or I should go for the 15.

The extra goodies on the 15T Pro deal were obviously a sweetener for me.

Also, any other tips to bring cost down. E.g. cashback, discounted gift cards, etc?

    • Xiaomi 15 is a smol-ish phone so it might not appeal to you, as you're used to a big Note 10+.

    • +1

15T probably better for your use case. If you don't care as much on camera

15 uses snapdragon chipset. Which isn't as good on battery life. Dimensity is the best these days and we don't have any high end flagship at all for any other brands locally except Xiaomi. This is the truth

  • Doesn't look like it comes with a case, any recommendations on a case, or places people have bought decent quality cases before?

    • +1

Bottom of the specs page says there is a Protective Case included in the package

      • Thanks, hopefully there is something with all of them, even if it's a cheap TPU case in the interim.

  • What is the camera on 15T Pro like compare with Pixel 9 Pro XL?

    • Slightly worse don't bother the zoom is only usable at 20x and pixel does better job

  • Google …AI will let you know

  • -1

Out of stock on Xiaomi Australia website. Say whaaat?

    • +2

It's been like that since the page went up. Based on the coupon dates, it doesn't launch until midday.

  • -1

What are updates like for Xiaomi. They can't do 7 years I bet like Google

Also Pixel 8 pro camera is still better than Xiaomi 15t pro according to AI

    • With a quarter of the storage

  • You can get same deal for just under $900 overseas, or with even 1TB model for just under $1000, and same gift, unsure why they don't have 1YB version in Australia even if we are happy to pay $200 on top

    • Warranty and local support if you forgo those sure
