  • Isn't that a saving of 5 bucks?

    Great. Valentine's Day is sorted!

    • Breakfast At Tiffany's is the Valentines Day movie. Thoughts?

      • +2

It's the quintessential classic chick flick… hard to go wrong.
Just take some 'V' to stay awake.

  • The Intouchable is a good movie

Is it free for kids under 5 years old? Can't find any reference to this on the site

    • +20

please don't bring a crying kid

      • Especially don't bring a child if you're going to watch skyfall, unlike a couple of charming parents when I went to see it

    • +3

I don't think it's appropriate for kids under five. They aren't likely to enjoy it at that age.
Besides, it can be quite crowded…and everybody is lying down. A child would be far more distracting than the normal cinema.

I'm thinking about going to the one in Melbourne some time soon when I visit on holidays.

Question for the people who have been, is Gold Grass any good? Is it in a decent position to the screen?

Also seeing as it finishes fairly late where is the place to grab a taxi?(Possibly where most people head after the movie?)

    • +2

Gold Grass is good in terms of the view, and the 'bean beds' are pretty comfy… however, you can actually get a better view if you just show up early and buy a regular ticket.

    • +2

For Melbourne, Gold Grass is right at the front, which is the best view as the screen isn't huge. The bean bags are shaped like chairs. The other seats are behind Gold Grass, and are on the grass. So you need a rug or something to sit on… the hill is sloped so the view isn't too bad.

It would be easy to grab a taxi along St Kilda Road afterwards; although I'm sure Taxi's will be waiting for the movie to finish. Parking is quite limited.

      It's a nice evening.

    • Bear in mind that Gold Grass doesn't guarantee a better position - in fact, people with standard tickets can sit right in front of you.

Last time we went we were just the other side of the makeshift 'aisle' (rope and pegs) from Gold Grass and had a great view of some old bird who was cracking it because a bunch of hipsters sat in front of her in Gold Grass. Good pre-show entertainment :)

  • How does the seating work, is it first come first serve?

    • +2

yes, first come first served. Get there early (1-1.5 hrs before) to rent a bean bag (recommended), which are $7 each.

      • +2

A true ozbargainer would bring their own bean bag.

        • +3

a true ozbargainer would put the tv out on the porch

        • A true ozbargainer would sit outside a drive-in cinema and tune in. I remember you could definitely do that at Bass Hill in Sydney, the Coburg one in Melbourne might be a bit tricky.

  • +1

if you buy from event cinemas online, its 4 for $44.

  • If for some reason moonlove doesn't work (expired by the time you read this?), rydges1 is an alternative code for $14 tickets instead.

  • its not working with the code.
can someone help me out please.
    edit
dw, I found out the change in the top.
    Cheers to op!

    • Hi, I tried to purchase them on my tablet but it didn't seem to work either. I then tried it from my laptop and noticed there was an 'Moonlight Special Promo' option in the Tickets section. Click that and enter the code word and hopefully it should work.

  • I've gone through the instructions with the code for the movie, 'A Good Day To Die Hard' and the discount doesn't seem to work. Would anyone be able to help?

    • Nevermind, it worked on my laptop after I found the 'Moonlight Special Promo' link (following the codeword input). It's actually $11 each including booking fee.

  • Great- i grabbed 2.

Make sure you type the code first, then a new type of ticket will be able tonbe selected. It doesnt just add the discount to your current selection.
