Why is that a bargain at $20kg? Harris Farm currently has tenderloin (eye fillet) for the same price, $20kg.

    Your eye fillet is $40kg

    • Just went to Harris Farm's website where ALL their stores are located in NSW. This deal is for Brisbane metro.

    • Hi there,

A similar product to what we're offering, on their website "beef sirloin steak" is actually marked at $24.99/kg.

I just checked the Harris Farm website as well and it seems as though beef eye fillet is actually marked at $26.99/kg not $20/kg?

The big difference to what Harris Farm is offering is that the eye fillet (for example) is being sold as a primal cut (i.e. one large long piece of meat). Then during preparation (trimming off excess fat, silver skin etc) there will be quite a lot of wastage, resulting in a lower amount of meat on your plate.

Our portions are all cut exactly to size, so what you pay for comes to your door, ready to unpack and cook without any preparation, or any waste. Hope this helps.

  • At Harris Farm in Bondi Junction they are selling it for $20Kg. I will take a photo tomorrow.

You are missing the point $20kg is not a bargain, for that cut of meat.

    • Hello XIOXXIO thanks for your interest, and let me say that I empathise with your concerns. Meat is something which many customers experience some level of confusion over. I think it's important here to give you some more information as to the difference in yields and beef grades. If you are allowed to photograph the product in store, please ask what beef "category" the fillet is being promoted as. "A GRADE" is not an acceptable description as this description does not exist in our industry as a technical term. In fact it is used to dupe people into believing they are about to purchase a high grade product, when in fact the trade description "A" is considered a very low grade in our industry. It can be sourced quite a bit cheaper than our beef range YG (young beef).

"Beef" as a category of meat can potentially include any and all qualities and ages of meat, but more often than not tends to be on the lower end of the quality scale. However when YG is specified (for example) you are guaranteed that the meat you are purchasing is from animals no older than 30 months or 2 teeth (meaning the quality is far higher).

We are also offering eye fillets with a high degree of trimming so what you purchase from us is a finished product ready to cook in whatever fashion you choose. Is the tenderloin to which you refer a whole primal which includes silver skin (basically inedible) and quite often the sidestrap muscle.
Some of the photo's of the meat on the website are also incorrect compared to their description. The "Scotch Fillet" photo's are wrong as is the pork leg roast which is a rolled loin.

For the user who mentioned MSA grade beef, this can potentially (and often is) any age of meat up to 8 years which obviously is less desirable than YG.

This reply is not designed a slur on the retailer, more a statement of fact and reply to your comments, but thanks for your interest. The more information we can provide the shopping public, the better armed you will be to make informed, value for money choices.

I got 4kg of Black Angus MSA rated Rump from Jack Purcell's (Brisbane) today for $28.00. Yep, $6.99/kg.

    • hi there KLoNe

our offer is designed for people who prefer portioned meat as opposed to bulk buys. when you put the yield into effect , (are you familiar with yields ?) particularly with a rump where there is quite some trimming to do to get it to the equivalent stage as our steaks are presented in MEATCART.
there are many equations that affect meat pricing which include :
      animals age & dentition
      feed regime
      breed
weather conditions and extreme events such as floods, large scale fires & drought
supply & demand (usually determined by the Major supermarkets and export contracts)
the age of the particular cuts at purchase. we suggest anything chilled older than 3 - 4 weeks is nearing it's shelf life

thanks for your comments KLoNe, feel free to ask any questions you may have,
      regards & bon appetite

the meat in the picture looks really good. How come theres no such service in melbourne?

  • Hi there,

We're glad you think so! All our meat is export quality which basically means that it is held to a far higher standard than meat which is sold domestically.

We're planning on expanding down through the east cost very soon so stay tuned and you'll be able to take advantage of the service soon!
