Metro Tasmania Fare Free Weekend, Free Bus Travel From 9th-11th FEB

240

My first post, be kind :)obviously only useful for residents(and tourists)of Tasmania
Great for people attending the Hobart Cup on Monday, leave your car at home If you want to have a few drinks at the races.

Metro is offering everyone the chance to travel free on its buses on the weekend of February 9 to February 11. The free fare weekend is a chance for more people to use Metro services to experience bus travel.

This particular weekend is packed with major events and travelling on Metro buses provides a safe, convenient and enjoyable alternative to taking your own car. Events over the long weekend include Festivale in Launceston, the Hobart Regatta, Hobart Cup and the Wooden Boat Festival.

Metro is encouraging people to use buses not just to go to and from major events on this weekend, but to use regular services between other destinations – to see family and friends, go to the beach, go to shopping centres and so on.

The availability of the free fare services varies from region to region. As Monday February 11th is a public holiday in Southern Tasmania, the fare free services extend to this day in Hobart and surrounds. Standard fares apply to Metro services in Launceston and Burnie on Monday February 11th.

Due to the number of events being held over this weekend, Metro has extended the number of services operating in Hobart and Launceston and is operating a Saturday timetable in both regions on Sunday February 10th. A Saturday timetable will also operate in Hobart only on Monday February 11th.

    will try on monday

  • Caught 4 buses this weekend for the first time in about 5 years. Suprised by the cleanliness and modernness of the buses, won't hesitate to catch them again if needed.

(FYI foreigners - our public transport is shite compared to yours)

  • Anyone else find the Metro website shite?
Only way to view timetables is on a pdf.
    All sizzle, little sausage imo

  • why not in NSW?

    • ?Because Metro Tasmania doesn't have any services to NSW, or my suburb :(

But seriously, this weekend there were 3 relatively big events on in Hobart and 1 up 'norf'. Tasmanians tend to drive anywhere no matter what which makes parking ridiculous.
