  • seems like a good deal…

      • Rep can you do a deal on larger capacity 2.5" drives? also what brand hdd does toshiba use inside?

        • Will have to do some work on the larger capacity.. are you referring to 2tb in particular?
As for what drives toshiba uses, we have no idea, as we never opened one before and it might different on each batches?

        • 1.5tb or 2tb

2tb would be a bit overkill!

And brand wise, toshiba or WD is prefered

Do you have other deals running that we can combine postage with?

        • 1.5tb or 2tb And brand wise, toshiba or WD is prefered <== ok, will take this request into consideration. Let's hope we can work out something for future promotions for ozbargain soon.

Do you have other deals running that we can combine postage with? <== hehe which product are you referring to in particular.

  • better buy the dse 1.5T one by giftcard 10% off one from last dse deal

Can you say that again in English?

    • not everyone has the 10% off card

  • Anyone know the specs of the drive inside? Can I crack open the case and use the drive in a laptop?

    • I don't think you can use the drives inside separately but correct me if i am wrong, all canvio drives in the past had fused USB controllers and not sata ones.

You can generally tell by the shorter length of the whole thing

Just letting everyone know : ACT FAST - even though the votes are not particularly high atm (slightly disappointing), but many orders are coming through and more than half of our stock have been depleted.

  • Hi rep, I am just wondering why you didn't go for http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/hitachi-touro-mobile-m… .. What is the difference, except the manufacturer and appearances?

Also, this Toshiba one works with Apple, right?

    • hehe…we have more stock of the Toshiba and reckon we want to offer some to ozbargain this week. If you use them as external drives, should not have much difference.

As to working with Apple - i did read somewhere it might have issues plugging to MAC with Lion O/S, but works fine with older MAC O/S. Not too sure if it has been resolved yet. If your MAC is using Lion, i advised you to stay put first, until someone that owns both can clarify.

    • I tried the 500G version of this & it worked OK in a newish Mac desktop once I reformatted it to FAT32.

  • Looks good, thx

  • I've missed out on a few recent deals, so will jump on this one!!!

  • Tried to cancel my order after reading about Mac compatibility issues, but just received a shipping notification. :(

These drives supposedly draw a non-standard amount of power from the USB port, which leads to issues with some Macs: http://www.phonenews.com/toshiba-acknowledges-macbook-woes-c…

    • damn i got a mac too..and got my confirmaiton as well!!
