i just upgarded from 16GB 1st gen to 16GB 2nd gen. The speakers are a good feature and it fits better in the hand.
Perhaps something is wrong with the speaker in mine, its pretty faint and tinny, can barely be heard - much softer than in the iphone.
Can't you buy a new 2nd Gen 16gb for about $329 these days, I'm pretty sure thats what I paid - this almost seems a little too expensive. Wasn't apple doing these refurbed 1st gen for $199 a while ago?

It'd be interesting to get one of these and run a recovery program on it to see what files you can pull from it…
