50GB Free Dropbox Storage (2 years) for Registering Samsung Galaxy Device

180

This might be a repost but I recently installed a new OS on my galaxy s2 and installed Dropbox and was awarded an additional 50gb extra storage. Did a quick search and found this offer but it works on more than just the galaxy s3.

mod amended title per member's assistance. Additional 50GB Dropbox space is free for 2 years only.

    Link doesn't work

Just tested, works for me. Don't really need a link anyway. Just install Dropbox if you have a galaxy.

I have GNexus but it didn't work :(

My understanding is there a time limit for 50g; it will reverts back after a year.

you get it free for 2 yrs, then you pay $100 per year.

Dropbox and Samsung have joined forces to offer a maximum of 50GB to each new Samsung Galaxy S III user. The storage space will stick around for 2 years before you have to pay to keep it.

      • "You get it free for 2 years" exactly… Cheers.

By getting creative with the 50GB Samsung bonus, plus using the Adwords trick to get more referrals, plus doing the normal startup bonuses… you can get a decent amount of free storage

Cant really think of any more free ways to boost that - anyone else managed to get a bit more?

Whats this Adwords trick you speak of friend?

      • +1

It's where you utilise the free Adwords coupon of $50 on signup to link to your own dropbox referral link and this maxes out your referrals overnight. I've done it and it's really effective :D

      • As froz3nflam3s touched on below (above?), it's where you utilise the free Adwords coupons you get offered every so often to create an Adwords advertisement for storage, with the target URL your Dropbox referral link. By offering 10 cents or so a click and using fairly specific keywords (well, as specific as you can be when trying to target 'file storage' traffic) you can get your ad to appear near the top of the promoted links and receive a metric dickload of traffic to your referral link.

Mine pretty much blew through the $50 worth of credit overnight and netted me double the maximum number of referrals that count towards increasing your limit. I'm hoping those extras remain in credit and should Dropbox allow more referral bonuses it will just tack on the end of my existing credit.

There's another trick which is certainly what you'd consider against the terms for referrals and if busted will probably get your whole account disabled… Use fiverr.com to get someone to sign up a whole heap of accounts using your referral link.

Does it work on the Nexus S? Thats made by Samsung.

Pitty they take your 50GB back after 2 years unless you want to pay to keep it. Box.com may not be regarded as good by many but at least my 50GB there will still be 50GB in 731 days time.

    • You also get 50gb free on kimdotcoms mega.co.nz might be worth a look.

    • FWIW, although you lose the 50GB of storage allowance they dont delete your old stuff. You just cant upload anything fresh. Your data is still accessible which means that even in a worse case scenario, you can just utilise 50GB of Dropbox for 24 months and then upload it to box.com once it runs out. Dropbox works everywhere (places like random third party app's allowing you to back up settings to 'the cloud' is a good example) so it's a fair bit more useful atm than box.

Does not work. I was using my S2.

    • Post from "highwind85" confirms that this is true - it doesn't work on a S2 with factory ROM.
Not sure why all the negs.
It didn't work on my S2 either.

You then have to log into dropbox, and download the application onto your PC add files to your drop box account and refer some friends, may have been a facebook like as well.
Only after doing that do you receive the additional 48GB of space.

This has been around for ages. If you don't own a Samsung find a friend or relative that works in say a phone store that has demo devices ;)

  • +3

It's only works with dropbox what comes with the samsung galaxy out of the box…
eg: Galaxy note 10.1, Galaxy S3…..
However, if you flash a custom rom which has dropbox on other samsung galaxy phones (eg S2), you will receive the email for the offer as well…

    • +1

      That's what I did ;)

      • what ROM, if you don't mind me asking. Using ParanoidAndroid but thinking of trying another one

        • Was using chameleon but just flashed Samsung official jelly bean rom cause battery life is meant to be great.
