Free Google One with 15 Months AI Pro (Gemini Pro, NotebookLM + VEO Video Generation) @ Google US (VPN & Edu Email Required)

4250

Hello Ozbargainers ! I found this awesome way to get 15 months of Google Gemini Pro for FREE, You probably need to use a VPN and create a US google account or try which one is eligible for you , my VPN was on throughout the whole process and only 1 out of 3 emails worked for me.

you need an education email to verify your student status, I used a temporary student email service https://tempumail.com and you generate a temporary email that you can use it once only to verify your student status. you need to use a valid credit card as well for google so don't forget to cancel after 15 months.

Enjoy!

    [US student email required]

    • you mean in title ?

      • technically isn't. if you just say 'VPN / Edu Email Required', it implies that applies to the country in which you reside.

  • +1

Worked for me i used vpn .Thanks

    • +1

enjoy it! did you get VEO 2 or 3 ? I somehow got only 2 but heard some people are getting monthly 1000 credits and veo 3

      • +2

using vpn before using gemini again gave me VEO 3 access

        • How do you check whether you got VEO 2 or 3?

          • +3

@xers: on pc when you hover over the video button on gemini it says Generate videos with veo 2 or 3

            • @Sr1993e: Thanks for that. Looks like I only got VEO 2 as well.

              • +3

@xers: I'm using VEO 3 now after closing the google tabs and activating USA vpn and reopening gemini . it's awesome man I can't believe what we're going to witness in a couple of years. don't know if I should be scared or happy about it lol

No need an edu email, just create a US google account and claim the offer, worked for me.

    • but it asks to verify student status?

      • +4

No, I just clicked on the claim offer at the bottom of the link above, and that's it.

        • oh ok !

        • +1

          No need an edu email

          Note:

Must reverify student status by August 2025

Creating a Google account requires a phone no especially when connected to VPN. did U enter one?

      • I still have the US phone number Google Voice gave me many years ago

        • I tried with my google voice number and it wouldn't allow it, probably because it's already linked to my main account.

  • +2

    Worked for me. Thanks op.
Do we still get the 15months if we cancel sub straightaway?

Is anyone finding Gemini useful? It seems much worse than Claude or ChatGPT when I've tried it. They seem waaaaay behind.

    • +1

From a coding perspective (mostly JS) I was using ChatGPT and when 2.5 came out I found it solving more of my problems and less going around in circles that I'd have with ChatGPT free user. Once it was able to be added to VS Code in a similar way to co-pilot, it has greatly increased my productivity. That is using the free versions of both, can't speak for what paid versions are like.

      • +1

Agreed, I found 2.5 being far more accurate and effective

    • Only tried Gemini given it came with my Pixel 9 Pro. Works fine for my basic needs.

    • +6

Quite the opposite. ChatGPT is a bit of a crapshoot day to day as OpenAI keeps updating the model for 'safety' nonsense. While Claude has only really been good at coding.
Gemini is great at pretty much everything I've thrown at it so far, and it keeps getting better with the latest Pro and Flash models

    • +5

Gemini 2.5 Pro was the leader up until the release of Claude Sonnet 4.0 less than a week ago.

It is very good for large context window requirements. There is so much more you can do with these models than asking them what to cook for dinner.

      • +2

I just use them as my psychologist. Works great for that, although Claude I've found is the best for that.

Gemini Pro gives me one sentence answers lol, has been completely useless.

      • Claude feels like asking follow up questions is wasting tokens, and therefore need to ask small clarifying questions elsewhere that's free Chat/Deepseek. It's good but too good for conversation.

    • The image generation is a lot quicker than ChatGPT.

    • +1

Gemini has caught up considerably with ChatGPT and Anthropic. Gemini 2.5 Pro is state of the art on the same level as ChatGPT o3 and arguably better than Claude 3.7 (I think comparable with 4 Opus as well) while being significantly cheaper.

    • +2

Geminin is actually regard as the basically the best model around these days. With all their access to data and sevrers, Google is likely to dominate in the future.

      • +3

Interesting. Comparing the free version of Claude with the paid Pro version of Gemini I still prefer Claude.

Just has more natural and correct answers based on random queries. Looks like Gemini has caught up a lot but still just feels like an AI bot.

        To each their own.

        • Thanks i'll have to play more with Claude. I have access to all the AI models through my Raycast and Alter subscribtions. Google definitely has some great capability with their 1M context window and tools like notebookLM. The cost also seems lower than all the competition

    • You can goon with it if you use the pyrite jailbreak and it’s awesome. Unless you can recognise its slop speech patterns haha

    • -1

for me, Gemini is far more accurate that ChatGPT for engineering, and Gemini is way better with deep research and resources and finding things for phd for my wife, however for her ChatGPT was better in some analysis.

each of them has its own area, but generally speaking, and also with a discussion with a friend of mine who works as a PM for microsoft copilot in Australia branch, he said that Copilot is rubbish, and Gemini is one of the most advanced of them all. however he is more impressed with Deepseek and Qwen on his deep study comparing AI's, they are taking lead.

all of them have free trials, or are free for number of searches in each month, so pretty much depends on your usage and need, and then will be a personal preference. it is becoming the area which is better IOS or Android, while both are used to make a phone call 5g.

    • The free version gives me significantly more accurate and better written responses than (paid) ChatGPT lately.

When I try the same prompt in both Gemini and ChatGPT, Gemini tends to be more aligned with the prompt too.

  • +2

Were you guys prompted to verify your account with a US number? If so, is there a work around?

    • +1

Temp/disposable numbers don't work with Google anymore as they're blacklisted.

    • +3

You can use an Australian phone number, as long as it's not registered to any other Google accounts

  • +3

Google asks for phone number when creating a new account.

  • +6

Come with 2TB of Google One storage shareable with family

    • Is this true accurate? Then it's worth the headache to go find a VPN etc.

      • But what happens after 15 months?

        • +3

The world is taken over by Gemini

          • +3

@easternculture: Right, after all the free training interactions we've provided through this deal. Its prime directive will be to provide bargains everywhere, crashing the global economy

        • Serious question actually… after 15 months, wouldn't you being hooked into 2TB of storage and need to keep subscribing?

          • @wildstone: Only if you use the storage. I personally won't be using a Google account I made specifically for this to use the storage. I have my main Google account linked up to a family account for storage.

            • @Whatisthatvelvet: Yes, but I am responding to faraz4oz where he/she mentions that it's worth the headache to get this for the storage. But it is going to be good for only 15 months no?

  • Does this include notebook lm pro

  • Does it need to be a US email?

    • I believe so, I have 3 accounts and 2 of them said i'm not eligible for the subscription, maybe if you have a spare email try changing the region and use vpn again.

      • +1

Signed up for new email via VPN, said not eligible?

Edit: Refreshed and it now comes up

        • could you please answer the others who are asking about verifying without a US number? unless you have one:)

  • Any way to convert this to a family sub to use on primary account?

    • It is the family plan it seems, it's allowing me to share it

      • but the accepting account has to be a usa one as well i think

        • Hmmmm I feel like there was some sort of workaround for this

          • +2

@snoopydoop: To update the country associated with a Google Account for Google One family sharing, family members must create a new Google Payments profile for the correct country. You cannot directly change the country on an existing payments profile; you must create a new one and then switch to it, according to Google.

Here's a breakdown of the process:
            1. Create a New Payments Profile:
            .
Family members need to navigate to their Google Payments profile and create a new profile for the country where they reside, according to Google Help.
            2. Change the Country/Region:
            .
Within the new payments profile, they should update the "Country/Region" to match their current location.
            3. Add Payment Method:
            .
Ensure they add a valid payment method that is compatible with their new country, according to Google.
            4. Switch to the New Profile:
            .
In the Google One app or other relevant Google services, family members should switch to the newly created payments profile to reflect the correct country settings.
            Important Considerations:
            Google Family:
If family members are part of a Google Family group, they cannot independently change their Google Play country. The manager of the Google Family must delete the group to allow individual members to change their Google Play country, according to Google.
            Time to Take Effect:
Allow at least 48 hours for the changes to be fully processed after creating a new profile, according to Google.
            Payment Methods:
The payment method associated with the new profile must be valid for the new country.

            • @freelife: when you say the payment method with the new profile must be valid for the new country e.g. USA - are you saying Aussie credit cards wont work? What's the alternatives?

          • +2

@snoopydoop: Quick update. I added a US profile along with my original AU profile. And thinking add to family would work after some time (waited 24hrs), still didn't work. So I deleted my AU payment profile completely and just left with US profile. Joined family again and worked immediately. Workaround solved :)

        • I’ve shared from a Turkish account to an Australian one, but there’s reports this gets you flagged quickly

  • +5

Must reverify student status by August 2025

    Note this

    • +1

any idea on how we're going to do this?

      • Might be doable if we can change the linked EDU email from our US google account somehow.

      • By using Google Gemini Pro of course. If ChatGPT can generate fake reciepts for the ATO… then what's stopping this from making some sort of transcript at Harvard? (Pls don't do this, it is not legal)

      • I’m hoping you just have to reverify email address

        • 🤞

  • +2

Thank you OP! You don't need a US phone number, just an Aussie one do.

  • -1

You want Google to spy on you.

    • +2

Because they won't do it without signing up for thos?

  • +7

Success! Used a temporary icloud email for google account zip 90210 + tempu email.
Windows computer, microsoft edge, with dallas VPN.
Was able to cancel right after too.
It says i'll keep everything until August next year.
Thanks OP, I have grok from a very discounted premium+ last year.
The $600+ a year for that is impractical to afford, so this will be a good free option if I have to lose access.

  • One account worked, one didn't. Happy enough with that

One account has an active sub (didn't work), other has used the 1 month trial before (worked)

  • I'm not sure about using Gemini on Windows if it works in any way, but installing on Android it asks access to all pieces of your activity on Android. Prefer to use ChatGPT. And Perplexity.

    • You're referring to the "Personalised" training model which is entirely optional.

      • No, the application has not started if you do not agree to it.
It only works with full access to all your data.

    • Yeah I wanted to use it on Android but not sure if it'll work.

    • -1

Concerned about privacy and using perplexity lol

      • They even simply allow to use its services by just login, you can any email.
        Didn't see why lol?

  • +12

Sign out of all google accounts or go incognito
    Use a VPN
Click on the link and itll prompt you to create an account first
Make an account using whatever email
Phone number can be australian, yours, your siblings, wife whoever
    Make the account
Then youll be taken to the main page again saying youre eligible for the gemini AI account once you verify student status
Use the temporary email address linked above, create a student email, punch that email into the google page, itll send you a verification email, go back to that temporary email website and youll see the google email there. Put the verification code in
And afterwards itll ask for your payment details
paypal didnt work because it said its in a different country, my citibank card worked

  • +4

i got through to the credit card part, tried to add my aus card and now i get a 'This account isn't eligible for Google AI Pro plan' - suppose would be better off using a temporary revolut card here or something

    • I am having the same issue. I wonder how others have bypassed this. The card transaction gets declined if I put my zip code in the US.

    • yeah, same

    • Odd, my Citibank card worked fine

Note I clicked the “one” button to go to the main page, then the back button, and suddenly things worked?

    • Same, gave up.

    • both ID same, gave up too

    • I used egift card from coles and worked. Bought long time ago but expiration date still valid. This type of card is not issue by country I guess.

    • Revolut works very well for me

  • Worked for me tempu email
Already have a usa google account lol
Used prepaid card with 5c balance

  • Is gemini pro better than the free version you get when you do google searches? I've been using chatgpt plus to study and I find it's much better than the AI generated answers in Google search.

    • Yes it is, and you have the deep research option.

  • Worked for me with the new US google account on an AU phone number and temp edu email. Did the payment details with the WISE card and kept the billing address as US with a random post code

  • +2

haha used the mainland giftcard details for payment & worked a treat thanks OP

  • Thanks. Worked perfectly.

  • +1

After connecting to US VPN, this worked with an existing burner Google account I was already signed into, just had to create a temporary student email (thanks for that site!) and add payment info (Aus credit card)

Edit: Can also confirm Veo 3 only when connected to VPN otherwise Veo 2

  • What do people use this for?

  • Worked for me!
    Used WISE.

Now we need to crack the code on verifying in August.
