Was looking for an Ipad 4 (or Ipad 3 or whatever they call the latest one these days). Went to BIG W = Highpoint VIC and saw it for $468 (normally $498). Thought this will be a good price as Apple is hardly on sale, and BigW is usually the cheapest one around. Asked the dude, said had no more left. Went to JB Hifi for a price match, told the guy that Bigw were doing it for $468, guy said ok no questions asked

Have also uploaded receipt for my JB Hifi Purchase (though it says Ipad 4?) for anyone that wants to use it.

    I think ipad 3rd generation is the new ipad, not ipad 4, you are lucky get it price matched with JB.

    I think this is the one with the "old" 30 Pin connector and slower CPU.

    4th gen is better investment for not much more $

    Two things.

    a) You somehow managed to get JB to 'price match' Big W's iPad 3 with an iPad 4. $468 for the 4 is a good deal.

    b) The actual original deal, $468 for the iPad 3, is not a good deal, considering a) the 4 isn't much more, and b) Apple sell refurbed 3s for $418.

      If you are correct, then scamming JB (accidentally or not) via a pricematch hardly constitutes a 'deal'.

      Generally staff errors or mistakes wouldn't, all depends if the above conclusions are correct which at a glance they appear to be.

    Actually it's Big W's fault for naming it "iPad 3rd generation", as to why you're all confused.
    Unlike the "iPad 2", the 3rd generation iPad was discontinued long ago, no longer in stores (as new, only refurbs) and replaced by the iPad 4 which is just named "iPad with Retina Display".
    And yes I bought the same iPad from Big W for Christmas last year for $498, it's the 4th generation one with the new connector, so this is a pretty good deal, if they're in stock.

    Hi Guys,

    Just bought my Ipad 3 from Dick Smith Broadway for 389.60 as they were having 20% discount on ipad 3's. Not sure how mine is different from the ipad 3 listed above, As flying overseas in March so will be able to claim TRS of 10% which will bring down the price to 350.64. Also whats the difference between the one i bought and this one??

        other than the new CPU, the old connector should be cheaper to replace……
