YoWindow Unlimited Weather Desktop App - FREE - Usually US $19.98

90

No idea if this app is any good but came across this deal. If you were to buy the product direct from the developer then it would cost US$19.98 but Cnet has a deal on at the moment and you can purchase it from them for Zilch. Expires 11:59pm PT, Tuesday, March 5, 2013

Developer website: http://yowindow.com/download
Cnet Link: http://download.cnet.com/8301-32471_4-57571857-10391713/excl…

There appears to be a free version but this is for the paid version. No idea of differences.

I generally only bother with Australian weather tools, as most of the international ones don't source from BoM and are wildly inaccurate.

Would that be the same BOM that habitually lists Gold Coast temperatures taken at the Seaway, when the population centres are generally 10km away and >5 degrees warmer?

Weather Underground is massively more accurate than anything the BOM releases, that includes severe weather warnings.

      • how could they be better than the BOM?

        • They get the info from the BOM, then have one of their computer's analyse it, and spit it out as their own data. There's no chance that weather under ground would have put their own weather machines in every small town in Australia.

Well…it's free. I'll give it a go. Thanks.

    • I just tried it. It's not what I would call a wallpaper. It's basically a weather app that can be viewed fullscreen (but still windowed) and it's using flash activex (which is bad for computer resources)

But yea, still giving a positive because it's free.

  • work computer wuldnt let me install .exe file :(

  • Ill try it out. Thanks

  • SEEMS PRIMITive
    uninstalled it

  • SOLD OUT!

Says "Sold Out". Tried the copy from the authors site. BoM says current temp for my closest observation point in Melb (10:45pm) is 25 (Program says 27). Forecast is 33, 31, 32 for next three days. This program says next three days 30, 30, 31. WUnderground matches BoM forecast in this instance. Uninstalling.
