  • That looks more like a L420 to me.

    • Second gen i5 CPU
    • Proper keyboard, whereas L430 should be spill-resistent island-styler keyboard
    • Hi Scotty,

It is an L430 with the spill-resistant island style keyboard.

    • The pic shows classic keyboard, not island.

      • Will send a note to have the image corrected, thanks for the heads up. It is definately the Island keys though!!

    • Hi Scotty,

Fixed it on our website - might take some time for OzBargain to refresh the image though. Thanks for your feed back.

      • It has been refreshed. Still a 2nd gen i5 though, so might have been produced at the beginning of L430's life cycle.

  • Does the Powerbuy cash-back apply?
    http://www.powerbuy.com.au/lenovo-thinkpad-l412-l512/

    • Hi mskeggs,

There is no cash back on this unit that we are aware of. I've also checked the Lenovo website and it doens't mention this exact model for a cash back so i'd say no unfortunately.

  • The lenovo website has the Thinkpad T420s clearance, it's only about $760 after the 15% discount (code:WSMM0313) . if it expired, you can ask the help to give you a discount directly.
But i don't know whether the T420s better than the L420?
    http://shopap.lenovo.com/au/en/deals-and-coupons/outlet-clea…

    • The T-series laptops use premium materials, and so are lighter than L-series laptops. Internally, there may be some components that are better in the T-series. Otherwise, both series pass various military grade stress tests.

430 models have replaced the 420 models. 420 models cannot use third gen processors, whereas 430 models can use third gen although some 430 models come with second gen processors.

  • Just a warning to potential customers and the advertiser about the "13hrs of battery life".

The model listed as 24652zm comes with a 57Wh battery according to http://www.vps.com.au/computers-and-servers/mobile-computers… . The is NO WAY in the world a 57Wh battery will get 13hrs of battery life. The system would need to average 4.38Wh power consumption to achieve that. If it had a 93Wh 9-cell battery then it would have more of a chance.

    • Hi Ruraro,

If you refer to Lenovos website + marketing material for the product it is advertised with a 13 hour battery life. We've had one in the shop since 9AM playing videos on loop and the battery is still doing well and looking like it will make the 13 hours.

      • What capacity battery do you have in it? Is it 57Whr 6-cell, a 9-cell or some sort of sheet battery? The windows power meter estimates are not at all indicative of total battery life. Need something that records historic data like BatteryBar or BattStat.

        • I would take any marketing materials from vendors with a grain of salt, especially battery life. In any case, L series laptops are a good compromise to the T series. I wouldn't touch their E series.

        • +1

It's in standard power mode playing videos on repeat. Was turned on around 8:50AM this morning when we set up the shop, 6 hours later it's on 54% battery remaining. We do also have the WiFi connected too. You've got the shop in a stir, we're taking bets on how long it will last.

      • virtually all battery figures which advertise the longest battery life will be idle runtime, i.e everything low(eg lcd) or off(eg wifi) i checked this model and similar models with same 57whr battery and I5-2520 & 14.1" lcd, wifi browse time is average 4.5 hr
re model, chunky, heavy, dated specs but you can't argue with Lenovo build quality!

      • Does the battery stick out the back?

        • Hi octagonalman,

The battery sits flush in this unit :)

  • A Lenovo Deal not posted by Scotty.. I'm tempted to give this a neg!! :p

    • Scotty only post genuine Lenovo deal directly from Lenovo

      this is a replicate/fake/pirate deal! :P

      • -1

it's legit :) come buy one if you're in doubt.

    • Does it count that Scotty was the first to comment on this deal?

      • He's probably wondering why there's Lenovo deals being posted that he was unaware of :P

  • Bought one today (Friday), very friendly customer service and even threw in the mouse despite the expired deal. Looking forwards to testing out the 13hrs.
