Odd - some sites list it as a 5900rpm and others 7200rpm. In reading some of these it seems there has been a change at some point. Seagate spec sheet no longer list the rpm and the sustained transfer is lower than the lower capacity models leading me to suspect it is the 5900rpm model "now"????

its almost impossible to nail that down… from what i believe its actually a 5900 and now and then i spend some time trying to find a real answer

however this is worth a read, cause you wont get an official answer out of seagate in anyway (that i have seen)…

If you go thru the various product literature about hd's on seagate you'll only ever find it listed as a HDD.15 drive (where you would normally find rpm). Its also worth noting that any literature that talks about barracuda drives and 7200rpm never lists the 4tb drive…

      for eg: http://www.seagate.com/files/docs/pdf/en-GB/whitepaper/7200-…
      and: http://www.seagate.com/files/docs/pdf/en-GB/whitepaper/mb538…

Both of those list barracuda (7200 rpm) drives as being no larger then 3tb

The only people who seem to make a connection between this drive and 7200 rpm are online retailer who (much like myself) assume barracuda meant 7200rpm.

  • I've made many purchases through Megabuy. Only ever had one issue (ordered a UPS that did not ship for months despite being in stock at the time of purchase) however the majority of my purchases have arrived without issue. Despite the one issue, I will continue to purchase through them for their decent shipping times and more-often-than-not cheaper prices. My two cents.
