For the months of February and March 2009, all AHL staff and their family & friends can see ANY movie, ANY time, for just $7* at any of our Greater Union or Birch Carroll & Coyle cinemas.

Tickets will only be available to pre-purchase until midnight January 31st 2009 and can only be used throughout the months of February and March 2009. To get all the details now, and to come back and buy tickets just click on this link:

Don’t forget to share this offer with your family and friends so they can take advantage of this very special limited offer.

Pre-purchase tickets for just $7 (includes $1 booking fee) during our sale period ending midnight 31 Jan 2009. Come back online during February and March to redeem your pre-purchased tickets to the movie of your choosing!

So hurry! This offer is for a strictly limited time and only for family and friends of AHL staff members.
It's simple, here's how it works:
1. Select your cinema and the number of tickets you would like to pre-purchase
2.Enter your credit card details and pay for these tickets and you will be issued with a unique code for each ticket purchased
3. Come back online during February and March and redeem your unique code for tickets to the movie and session of your choosing.
4. Once you have redeemed your pre-purchased tickets, you will be sent your print@home confirmation email and that will be all you require to collect your tickets at the cinema - no ID is required!
A few things to note:
This $7 offer (includes $1 booking fee) is valid for purchase online until January 31 2009 only.
You must select a cinema location (one per transaction) and can purchase as many $7 tickets as you like until the allocation is exhausted.
Upon transaction completion, you will receive one code per ticket. This code can then be used to book a seat online for any movie session from February 1 - March 31 2009. You cannot present your codes at the box office.
There are no blockout sessions or dates, but some sessions may fill fast, so book your seats early to avoid disappointment. Seats are subject to availability at the time of booking.
Complete the online transaction with your code and present your print@home ticket at the box office.
Tickets will go on sale each week by 5pm Tuesday for sessions from that Thursday.
This offer is not valid for use in GMAX, Gold Class or Silverscreen cinemas. Not valid for use for 3D, marathon or special event screenings. Not valid with any other offer, voucher or discount.
There will be strictly NO refunds available.
Anyone who has access to this page is able to take advantage of this offer.

  • Sounds like a good deal, kinda like buying Cinesavers but for a 2 month period instead of 12 months.

Hate the "in the middle of this economic crisis" crap though..
Whay can't people just have a sale without a "reason"?

    • SSsshhh I think that "economic crisis" stuff may have been added by the OP!

  • basically its $8 per ticket because you're only entitled to book online in order to redeem.
still good in any case, fortunately having a 'good' friend can you in for free :P

    • says this:

"Pre-purchase tickets for just $7 (includes $1 booking fee)"

Shame the Greater Union here in Melbourne CBD is the biggest run down piece of s… ever.

    • Good deal but I don't think I'll be rushing into Melbourne CBD for this one. Haven't seen the cinema conditions for a while but I believe they are not good.

      • The only Greater Union cinema available in Victoria seems to be the Melbourne CBD one.
        What's the condition like?

        • Seats dating back to the 1970s. Thin with hardly any cusion and back support.

Carpect & decor all from the 80's (i,e, thin red carpet with 2 decades of accumalted coke stains, popcorn and bodily fluids). No stadium seating.

Oh and the place smells like curry. I best not elaborate on that.

  • "So hurry! This offer is for a strictly limited time and only for family and friends of AHL staff members."

We need to be a member or staff to get this ?

    • From the web page:

Anyone who has access to this page is able to take advantage of this offer.

    • No, becasue we're "Friends" of an AHL member

This is a VERY attractive offer.
We took our young Miss to the pictures at the Garden City Megaplex (Brisbane) during the week with another family, and it cost $42.50 for 2 adults + 1 child!!! I nearly fell over when I bought the tickets. To add insult to injury, the seats where b100dy uncomfortable. It left me feeling that BCC/GU are only any good for the rare Gold Class special treat (purchased with redeemed banking loyalty points).
The local AMC is about 30% cheaper.
Brisbane's Hawthorne/Balmoral/Southbank chain are about 1/2 price of BCC/GU, or comparable with this Family And Friends offer.

    • One of the best things about Brisbane are the Southbank Cinemas. I mean >$6?! You can't get that anywhere else. Also if you're a uni student, all Greater Unions should offer $6.50 tickets.

      • Greater Unions in BRISBANE that is. Namely Indooroopilly. Not sure if other places do it.

  • Great Offer I'm sure this is one that I'll use…..

  • Probably no use to students since we get tickets for $7 anyway, with movie saver card but its less than half price of an adult ticket so a great deal indeed.

  • What movie saver card? how much is it for a student and where do you get it from?

    • +3

Its a student movie saver card you can get free at greater union cinemas and lets you get your movie ticket for $7 (not valid for movie marathon and gold class). You just ask for one when you buy a ticket. They are normally available near the start of the year and are valid for a whole year - so you can use it over and over again. You just need a uni or TAFE ID card and present the movie saver when buying tickets. It also allows free candy bar upgrade, large coke/popcorn combo for the price of a medium.
Its one of the few ways us poor uni students can afford to go to the movies.

      • thanks for the tip

      • Thanks oprafan, never heard of this before.

  • Great find, sure beats the 13.50 student prices.

  • Thanks for sharing this BrisFashionGirl.
    Ordered 5 tickets; great!

  • These don't seem to be working for W.A. cinemas ??
I,ve emailed them but no reply as yet .

  • Doesn't seem to be working for me either in NSW. I think there is a problem with their website.

    • The offer has expired. It finished at midnight last night.

      • +1

I realize the offer has expired ….
I am unable to use my already purchased codes to book my tickets .
Tried ringing the local cinemas but they are constantly engaged . Pissed off because I've organized a babysitter for the 12 midday session and I'm not paying full price after already purchasing tickets .

        • +1

Bugger. I see what you mean. I went through the steps of booking some seats and there is no place to enter the codes. All I could see is a spot to put gift cards in. They mustn't have it ready yet…

          • +1

@loveyoulooongtime: I tried a "dry run" at redeeming the codes for seats when I bought the coupons, but there wasn't an option to enter a code. I put it down to the fact that it was still January and the instructions stated "during Feb & March".
            Obviously this still isn't activated.
VERY poor, as it should be available from today 1st Feb as stated!!!
Please advise if/when others have had success or otherwise redeeming these pre-purchased coupon codes.

Well I gave up on line and just rang the theater this morning . They were very good about it admitting there was a problem online and booked my ticket over the phone .

  • hmm..
Greaterunion charged me twice for 10 tickets -.-

who do I call to get this thing sorted? I only got 10 codes, but got charged $70 twice!!!!!!!

  • Has anyone been able to use their ticket codes online? If so, where did you enter them?

  • +1

I did another dry run this a'noon.
There's an option for "January Family & Friends vouchers" built in now.
At Step 2, Please select your ticket quantities…
Click 'here' if you are buying tickets using the January friends and family offer.

BTW, it looks like you can also get points on your CineBuzz Card.

    • Thanks teaearlgrey! I was going too fast to notice that :-)

  • Hey,I found another great deals website, check this out:

    http://www.best-value-deals.com

  • Were anyone able to book The Internationals? I tried to book it for Geater Union George St, however, even I click on Book for January Family and Friend code I can't select any tickets.

The only thing I've found is that the movie has NFT (not Free Ticket) icon attach to it. But surely I've paid for the ticket ($7.00) each so it's not a FREE ticket right?

Trying to call Greater Union George St and all I get was pre-recorded voice mail which does not let me speak to any live operator.

    Anyone tried it already?

    • I see what you mean SpotDude.
Maybe they're not valid for "Gmax"???
      edit: See T&C from OP…
